#4 Manager Dan Sanchez

The man who had the dream of starting a travel team and together with Ralph Liberatore turned it into the reality of this Delaware Blue Coats Organization. Dan grew up in New York, playing baseball for the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) League. He was a first baseman and pitcher for Saint John The Evangelist and Saint Thomas Aquinas. Dan Sanchez has been coaching for 17 years. Dan coached at Brookside Babe Ruth, Salem Woods Indepenent League and Canal Little League. Dan has coached All Star Teams for 10 years and managed the 2007 District II Senior All Stars who made it to the Final 4. Dan was very instrumental in the formation of the Blue Coats design and color scheme. Dan was the manager for the 2008 ECTB 18/19U National Championship Series Champions. Dan will continue duties for 2009 as Manager for the Blue Coats 19u team and President of the Delaware Blue Coats Organization.


#44 Outfield Coach Ralph Liberatore

Ralph Liberatore's last baseball assignment was being the Business Manager for the Delaware Dragons. Ralph and his son were with that club since fall 2003. During that time, Ralph also served as Co-Chair Fundraising Committee and a Board Member. Ralph played High School Baseball in Maryland and had the pleasure of playing against Cal Ripken from Aberdeen High School. He also played baseball in the United States Air Force. Ralph has coached/managed for 10 years including teams from Canal Little League, Bear Babe Ruth League and Catholic Youth Ministries. Ralph was a 3rd Base coach from Canal Little League/Majors in 2003 in which that team won a Divisional Title and a 3rd Base Coach for the 2007 District II/Senior All-Stars where they made it to the Final 4. He has coached or managed All Star Teams from Canal in 1999,2000,2002,2003,2007. Ralph was one of the coaches assigned to the 2008 ECTB 18/19U National Championship Series Champions. Ralph will now focus on working with the 2009 18/19U Blue Coats as the 3rd Base Coach, Outfield Coach and Vice-President of the Delaware Blue Coats Organization.


#42 Pitching Coach Mike Deshaies

Mike Deshaies joined the Blue Coats coaching staff in February, 2008. Mike will serve as our statistician and pitching coach. Mike was an all conference pitcher in high school and played college baseball at the State University of New York at Oswego, NY, where he pitched two no-hitters during his career. He played semi-pro baseball for several years in upstate New York and was named MVP of the Northern Valley Baseball League in 1980. Mike has coached youth baseball for many years from Little League to varsity baseball at the high school level. Mike was one of the coaches assigned to the 2008 ECTB 18/19U National Championship Series Champions.



# 40 Infield Coach C. Wayne Leonard

C. Wayne Leonard was a standout shortstop at St. Elizabeth H.S. accomplishing All-State status throughout his years there. He went on to play at Wilmington College. Upon graduation he began his career as a trooper with the Delaware State Police. Wayne took his infield experience to Capitol Little League where he coached and taught for 11 years. Wayne was a great help to the Blue Coats last year stepping in for some coaching duties at our last tournament at Mansfield University where we took home the 3rd place trophy and individual medals. He will handle the infield coaching duties for 2009. Wayne was one of the coaches assigned to the 2008 ECTB 18/19U National Championship Series Champions.


Batting Instructor: Ernie Spence

Coach Spence will focus on hitting instruction during the winter training sessions for 2008/09 and resumes that duty for 2009. Coach Spence has been a Head Coach for over 30 years and has managed several All Star Teams from Canal LL in the past. Coach Spence has been so active and well liked with Canal LL, there is an award named after Ernie for exceptional work for a volunteer in the league. Coach Spences March 2007 knee surgery is now behind him and is happy to be back for 2008/09. The Blue Coats are very happy to have his knowledge for our staff.
