Coaches Meeting updated 8-10-09
The coaches meeting will be Sunday, August 16th 2:00 at Forrest Burdette.
FIELD WORK DAY updated 8-10-09
Through the years, we have always struggled with getting sufficient help to prepare the fields for play and getting all the teams represented at the Coaches Meeting.
This season, GTSC will refund to each team the cost of a single players registration to use as your team decides. To receive this refund – your team must be represented by an individual at both the Field Preparation Workday and the Coached Meeting. (Note: an individual cannot represent two teams and receive credit for both teams). How your team uses the refund will be decided by your team. Compensate the person who has attended both functions, use the money to purchase additional equipment or items for your team party at the end of the season – its up to you.
We need the help preparing the fields. We need coaches to attend the Coaches Meeting. We know many of you have been to the Coaches Meeting before, but this gives us an opportunity to discuss changes and the direction we are headed. It also keeps those who have been busy preparing rosters and getting coaches for every team from having to get with you separately. We know you are busy and very much appreciate you giving your time to coach. Please realize though, most of us are coaches as well and we also have other organizations we participate in the same as you do. This is a volunteer club, it will not work without your help. Help us make the carrot approach successful.
come on out this Saturday August 15th at 9:00 to help!!!!
(rain day is Saturday August 22nd at 9:00)

Game Cancellations updated 10-2-08
Coaches, PLEASE READ THIS
GTSC has received notice from the referee coordinator that there have been several requests to cancel/reschedule games. First, coaches should make every attempt to play games as scheduled. Players and parents sign up and pay for a season's worth of games, expecting eight games. Statistics show that only about 50% of canceled games are successfully rescheduled and played. Also, participants and parents expect games will be played on Saturdays and make their personal schedules accordingly, and when a game is rescheduled for a day other than Saturday, invariably some players are not able to make the rescheduled time and still miss out on the game through no fault of their own.
I have included the applicable language regarding game cancellations from the KVSL Rules of Play:
1.) Games may be canceled due to bad weather only by the field referee, the club or KVSL. If marginal conditions exist, the Referee at the field makes the final decision.
2.) A Coach may not cancel a game due to key players being unavailable (such as out of town for tournaments or competitive league play).
3.) The home coach must also notify the Club Referee Coordinator of canceled games in adequate time to cancel the Referee(s).
4.) If Referee(s) show up for a game that has been canceled, the home Club (not KVSL) must pay the referee(s).
5.)If a coach knows that he will not have the minimum number of field players for his age group available to play on the date/time scheduled, the game must be made up either the week prior to or after the scheduled date.
6.) The referee coordinator must file an e-mail report to KVSL-VP listing any games not played each week. An end of year report of home games not made up should also be submitted. GTSC needs the coaches of each teams to contact the referee coordinator if you are unable to play or a game is canceled.
7.) For U8 and below, non-played games should be reported to the ref coordinator as well, for inclusion in the VP summary.
Not making up games is a serious matter as children/parents have expectation of 7 or 8 games a season. Failure to make up game will result in disciplinary action. Our fields are very heavily scheduled for practices, with more than 30 teams using them weekly, many of them twice. It is difficult to find an open time on Greif Brothers fields, especially at the U9 and above level as we only have two game fields for those age groups. Finally, referees must be secured. The referee coordinator does a great job but it does require extra work on his part and a willingness and availability of the referees to take on the new assigned time. Please, HELP us by showing up on time and playing the scheduled games.
Names on Uniforms updated 8-10-09
The BOD of GTSC has been asked about adding the players name to the new uniforms. Here are the guidlines we ask each of the coaches to relay to the parents of the players that wish to do so.
1.) Only white letters are to be placed above the number on the back side of the uniform.
2.) The player's given first name or last name are the only acceptable name to be placed on the uniform. NO nicknames please.
3.) We ask that the team votes on this and the hole team or no one on the team add the names.
4.) We ask that NO extra patches or team names be added to the uniforms.
6.) That one person take up the uniforms for the team, delivers them and picks them up from Quantum Soccer.
Please HELP us abide by these guidlines so we may be more uniform in our apperance, as a team and as a club. The cost will be $?.?? a uniform. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact anyone on the board.

We Need HELP updated 8-10-09
As an all VOLUNTEER organization, we are always looking for help. As a coach you know how rewarding it is to help with a team. If you know anyone who you think can fit the bill as a coach or just to help out with a new team this year PLEASE, encourage them to become a VOLUNTEER. As always we greatly appreciate your help with our (yours and my) soccer club.
