History:
The first boys golf team was fielded in 1972 and competed in the 27 team IHSAA Bedford Sectional. Records do not indicate who played or coached at this time. The first coach on record is Tom Traylor during the 1973 season. The first players listed are the 1975 team of Randy Edwards, Bill Martin, Jay Munk, and Dan Yost; coached by Keith Gaffney. The 1978 team, coached by Dennis Doutaz, was moved to the Floyd Central sectional and Henryville remains assigned to that sectional.
In 1979, Henryville won it's first Southern Athletic Conference championship @ Sandy Creek golf course (Shadowwood GC). Members of that team were Rodney Bottorff, Brian James, Jim Stewart, Fred Tucker, and Kevin VanMeter. They were coached by Tom Traylor. Henryville's first individual Southern Athletic Conference medalist was Vernon Ledford, coached by Tom Traylor, in 1981.
