Volunteering
The Howell Sea Serpents are a parent-organized team. The swim meets cannot happen without the volunteers at home meets and away meets. The volunteers are what make the swim club. We need to try and make sure that we all do our part to make this a great team for the kids. Before each meet there will a sign up sheet for each available volunteer position on the bulletin board at the pool. Below is a brief description of each position. If you should have questions, please feel free to contact any of the HSS Board Members. A reminder: Each position is required to be filled until the end of the meet (except swimmer check-in), even if your swimmer is finished early.

You will be responsible for starting the watch when the start sounds and for stopping your watch when the swimmer touches the wall. You will record the time of your watch and your partner’s watch on the event card that the swimmer provided. The lane timers are used as a backup to any electronic timing that is available at the pool.

For each home meet, the team provides a concessions table for the swimmers and their families. You will be responsible for selling and preparing items as ordered. This usually requires up to 4 volunteers. If possible, you will be able to step away to watch your swimmer, swim their event.
