HCA General Board Meeting February 11th 2013
Board Members Present: Nicole, Holly, Lesli, Melissa, Jeanine, Marina and Cindy
Others Present: Wendy Fiedler, Carrie Parsons, Monica Ortega
Call to order: 6:38pm
Discussed the IRCA meeting that Nicole & Melissa attended
*Went over IRCA sponsored events for 2013
*Went over qualifying numbers for 2013 season
*State Championship is December 6-8th 2013
-Friday starts at 5pm with the parade/6pm competition starts
-Saturday starts at 8am and will end at 6pm and Sunday will start at 8am
*IRCA keeping twisted dismounts
*No more notes about ADHD athletes
*IRCA Super CDA Camp for 8th graders-- The Grand Bear Resort in Utica IL, June 7th-9th 2013, $250 per Cheerleader (includes lodging, camp, and meals)
*Keeping the Large trophies for state
*DVD’s are being done in house this year
*Order Spirit wear ahead of time for the IRCA competitions (can order online and pick up at competitions)
Competitions:
*Agreed on these Competitions for the 2012 season, they are:
-Rolling Meadows 10/6/13 (More info to come)
-Jacobs High School 10/20/13 (Cheer Revolution)
-Sears Centre 11/2/13 (Solid Gold Cheer)
-Sears Centre 12/6-12/8/13 (State Competition)
Registration:
*Good turnout, 104 girls registered including the Sparkle squad
*Last minute Registration to be done at uniform sizing May 11th 2013 with an additional late fee $30 added on top of registration fee
Sparkle Squad Update:
*Voted Carly onto the Board of Cheer as the Sparkle cheer liaison (Voted was taken at the Feb 9th 2013 registration)
*Practices will take place on Tuesdays for 1hr (Place TBD)
*The Sparkle squad will cheer every week
*Touch Base with Deb from Crystal Lake’s Sparkle squad
*Talked about getting sponsors for Sparkle Cheer (NISHRA, Huntley Fall Fest, etc)
*Discussed uniforms for the Sparkle Squad (getting them a size bigger, elastic waist??)
Sponsors:
*Check out Wal-Mart, Costco, and Culvers for possible Sponsorship
Uniforms/Body wear:
*Uniform Sizing set for May 11th 2013 from 9-12pm at the REC center
*225 uniforms inventoried
*Staying with the same body wear/ Changing the socks (white with silver stars)
VOICES clinic:
*Call and see if you can reserve spots/Add people at a later date ??
Jr. Coaches:
*Talk with Jr. Coaches early
*No Jr. Coaches are to coach their siblings
*Applications, Letter of Recommendations (2 teacher, 1 outside- non cheer related)
*PCA-Positive Coaching Alliance
*Service hours??
Music
*Have it in place on the website
*Schedule a definite date to sit down
*June (Music Month)
Squad Assignments:
*Meeting in April / Date is set
Winter Season:
*Discussed doing a Winter Season (Feb-April)
*Ask for Jr. Coach Volunteers
*3 Competitions possible (Wisconsin Dells, Milwaukee ??)
Coaches Class:
*Talked about doing a 1 day Coaches/ Jr. Coaches class
Senior Squad:
*Set Price, Create a Flyer, Competition only, Adult coaches
Insurance:
*Need to make sure that Marlowe Middle school, Union Special, and Huntley REC Center are added to the insurance policy
Spirit Wear:
*Getting some more additional youth sample sizes
*Discussed the possibility of getting some Cheer Dad spirit wear and Rain ponchos
*Discussed the possibility of switching vendors for Spirit wear (Varsity)
