8th Grade 13u Falcons - Season Recap 2004
'04 Record ~ 19-1

2004 was a very rewarding year for the Falcons. As summer workouts started in late June we had noticed alot of our players had been recruited away to a new start-up team. We welcomed many new faces to the team. After two early scrimmages Falcons was looking good (especially on defense). Second week into practice coach Josh decided to move then wing back/receiver Jock Stinson to quarterback - for mobility and passing purposes. Stinson was one of our better athletes and we wanted the ball in his hands as much as possible, as Coach Josh sees it there's no better position to get the ball to someone alot than QB. He'll touch it every play.

As usual we opened play w/ the traditional early bowl game at C.B.F.O. We didn't play well offensively our execution was poor but in the end we won the game 12-0. Our defense didn't even yield a first down all game long, very stingy. The following week we played in the 2nd Annual Eagle/Falcon Jamboree @ Inskip Field. We defeated the host Eagles 22-0 in one quarter of play. Darius Jackson made several crushing hits from his middle LB postition. QB-Jock Stinson threw a 40 yard TD pass (all in air) to Keith Turner standing in the corner of the endzone. The young season was off to a great start.

Our first league game matched us with the newly formed all-star team - Knoxville Ravens coaches by former Holston coach Mike Chambers. Our kids were excited about the challenge as the trash talking had been going on all summer long between the two teams players. We accepted the challenge whole heartedly. Chucky Andrews took the opening kick-off to the house for the games first score. Our "D" stuffed star Raven RB Adam Hickey time and again. JeMichael Williams played a great corner making several open field tackles. QB Jock Stinson threw a long pretty TD pass and the Falcons ended up winning the game 20-6. The Falcons ended league play undefeated after defeating Catholic 21-0.

On the season we were led by rocket arm, star QB Jockqueze Stinson who ended up throwing more touchdowns than some high school QB's. Stinson hooked up with many WR's throughout the year (Martez Simpson, Daruis Jackson & Keith Turner caught the most passes). Nose guard - Micah Bolden, Def. Tackle - Vincent Johnson, LB - Daruis Jackson, LB - Keith Turner & CB -JeMichael Williams anchored a very greedy defense. Bolden led the team in behind the line of scrimmage tackles; Williams led the team in interceptions (over ten on the season, with three coming in one single game). Our offensive line did a wonderful job all year long protecting our QB and making hole after hole for our speedy RB's (ol: Jordan Phillips, Kadeem Blair, Alex Hatfield, Vincent Johnson, Micah Bolden & Mikey Driscoll).

To open the play-offs we drew the revenged minded Knoxville Ravens. We knew coach Chambers and his staff would have his talented athletes ready to play and boy were they, the game was a WAR as the Ravens wouldn't go down easy. Falcons opened the game up w/ a fumble deep in our own territory but our defense stuffed the Ravens 'O'. DB JeMichael Williams intercepted the Ravens three times yes that's correct Williams had three picks in one youth game and recovered a key fumble late that the Falcons capitalized on for the games lone score from RB Martez Simpson. Jock Stinson completed several second half passes to WR's Darius Jackson and Martez Simpson. The Falcons won 6-0 in a VERY tight game which is the case every time Coach Josh and Coach Chambers' teams meet especially in the play-offs. In three play-off meetings against Coach Chambers each game has been decided by a TD or less.

The championship matched us up against the EXTREMELY big, fast and talented Austin-East Roadrunners. The Roadrunners looked like a H.S. team as they had many kids standing over 6 feet tall and weighing over 200lbs. It was a great game played by many Falcons in the pouring rain. The Roadrunners ran the opening kick-off to the Falcons 4 yard line. The Falcons greedy "D" would hold the rivals four straight plays and then take over on downs. RB Chucky Andrews ran the rock well (in the 2nd half), the first half provided very little offense for either team, somewhat due to the field conditions and the rest due to the teams great, fast and physical defenses. The Falcons put in a new formation at halftime and ran just three different plays the whole second half out of the same formation (the formation fit us better in the rain). The halftime adjustment proved to be a great thing for the Falcons as on our first second half possession RB Chucky Andrews took a mis-direction hand-off and out-raced the defense 70 yards to the endzone. Nose guard Micah Bolden lived in the Roadrunner backfield disrupting things all night. CB JeMichael Williams had several hard hits, made the crowd go ewww and ahhh several times. DT Vincent Johnson made several tackles as well. The Falcons defeated the rival Roadrunners 16-0..

Next up would have the Falcons facing off against a local league all-star team in the 1st Annual "Slobber Knocker Classic" played at Karns High School. The coaches felt this would be a tune-up before heading to sunny Daytona Beach for the Nationals. It was a great game played by the Falcons, QB Jock Stinson hooked up with Martez Simpson for the games only score. Falcons won 6-0!

Next the Falcons would board the chartered coach bus in the freezing cold at 4:00 AM and head to Daytona Beach, Florida to play in the 32nd Annual first class event. After arriving at the National Youth Football Championships the day before Thanksgiving, the Falcons learned they played a 13/14u team, Londonberry Lancers (New Hampshire) on Thanksgiving day. The Falcons were all 13 and had to leave behind a couple would-be starters (due to academics). The Lancers were big and physical and ran a power version of the Wing-T, we outscored them (had three TD's called back) we just came up short on the score-board that matters most (14-12). After a day off to relax at the beach and enjoy our trip, Saturday matched us up against a very athletic team from Roanoke, VA. The Falcons played their best game of the season. QB Jock Stinson took to the air early connecting w/ a couple receivers to get the Falcons on the board early and often. After it was all over the Falcons defeated this solid ball team 39-6. We finished 3rd place in the National Youth Football Championships in Daytona Beach, FL. We were only 2 points and three called back touchdowns away from playing for the National Championship.

Overall the trip was amazing, the kids will remember this trip for the rest of their lives. We concluded the trip Saturday night by attending the "Awards Show" where we were called upon stage in front of 1,000's to take a quick team photo and receive our five foot 3rd Place Team Trophy.

This was a very exciting and rewarding year, this Falcon' team paved the way for the future. Congrats everyone going onto high school.
