BU Wins National Title. Perhaps the greatest highlight in the past year is Boston University’s incredible come-from-behind victory to capture the 2009 NCAA Division 1 title. Here’s a quote from BU coach Jack Parker after the game: “Wow. What a hockey game. What a finish. The finish made it an unbelievable game, obviously. And all I can think of is that it's the greatest comeback I've been involved in. The only thing I can say, we won that game because big-time players make big-time plays.”
NHL 2008-2009 Top Ten Saves. Sometimes we forget just how important our goalies are. They are our final line of defense. Here’s a quote from NHL Hall of Fame Goalie, Patrick Roy: “A goalie has to show he’s confident to his teammates, as well as himself. You are the last guy before that special red line. You have to make yourself confident. You make yourself hard to beat.”

"So who do you think you are, Bobby Orr or something?" Chances are most kids have heard a coach or parent say something like this. Sure, Bobby Orr first broke into the NHL more than 40 years ago, but he's still undoubtedly one of the greatest of all time. Check out this You Tube video to see for yoursef. By the way, we guarantee that if there is an adult anywhere in the vicinity they will be drawn in instantly by the theme song.

Know the Rules
In this section, questions from USA Hockey’s “Ask The Official” page are featured to help clarify the official rules of the game. Players who know and understand the rules can be a tremendous asset to their teammates and coaches.
Q. I have had many people questioning whether it is still tripping if a defensive player dives...knocks the puck off of an opponents stick...and while still sliding takes the opponents skates out from under them.
A. Rule 639(a) of the USA Hockey Rulebook states:
“Any player who deliberately leaves his feet and contacts an opponent with any part of his body thereby causing the opponent to trip or fall shall be assessed a minor penalty (Clipping).(Note 3) This rule does not apply to a player who has dropped to his knee(s) to block a shot.”
In the situation you describe, the player who dives, knocks the puck off an opponents stick, and then sweeps the opponent’s legs out from under them should be penalized for tripping. While other levels may have rules that allow this act to go un-penalized if the diving player made contact with the puck first, USA Hockey does not.
