Middletown vs Hagerstown Gold
April 19, 2009 --
Lady Knights,
Tough loss last week to Haagerstown Gold. However, we cannot define ourselves by this lost. We should use this as a learning opportuinity to identify the areas in which we need imporovment.
Our goal should strive to be a better team and, if we get to play this team again, show them our best game.
There were many positive elements to our game such as the 34 caught passes (Paige - caught pass leader with 8). Our goalies, Sierra and Peyton, played especially well with a combined 6 saves. Ground ball goblin goes to Katie closely followed by Rilee, Danielle, Megan, and Kristyn. Nice interception, leading to turnovers, by Chrissy and Ava. Way to hustle from Maggie, Taylor, Andrea, Meredith, Delaney, and Roxie.
Overall stats: 53 GBs, 1 assist, 34 caught passes, 16 shots on goal, and 3 goals (16% shooting accuracy).

Middletown vs Mt Airy
April 5, 2009 --
What do you call a team that had less than their optimal game and won by a goal? A very talented team! There is a lot that we still need to work on; however, we had a lot of good elements to our game as well as our first assists of the season. Total stats were 49 GBs, 3 assists, 19 shots on goal, and 8 goals.
It was a very physical game, and I know that many of you were telling Coach Erin how “pushy” the other team played. However, this did not deter you. I really liked how everybody was being equally aggressive and running the field.
Ground ball goblin award goes to Katie and offensive leaders were Paige and Rilee. Our goalies, Paige (3 saves) and Sierra (5 saves), were magnificent. We created many turnovers which allowed us to get the ball back. Turnover leaders were Maggie, Mallory, Taylor, Kristyn (nice draw control as well), and Ava. Good hustle (running up and down the field, running for the either the GB or the girl on ball) by Andrea, Rachel, Roxie, and Delaney (some very nice catches).
Defensive MVP goes to Danielle.
BTW, Chrissy is doing fine. Thanks to everybody who either came up to me after the game or called me up that evening. She’s looking forward to showing Mt. Airy our A game next time.

Spires vs. Middletown
March 28, 2009 --
The field was wet and dreary but our attitude was not! Terrific team effort by all players. In fact, every one of our players made in the stat book. Maggie in goal for both halves had 2 great saves. Attack lead by Rilee, Chrissy (ground ball goblin), Katie (7 GB – keep on practicing wall ball, your cradle is much better), Sierra, Ava (2 goals), and Kristyn (8 GB). First goal of lacrosse career by Rachel.
But what’s an offense without good defense. Great hustle by Andrea, Taylor (3 GB, not bad for a first game ever), Meredith, Delaney, Megan (some nice catches), Roxie, and Danielle ( defensive player of the game).
I also liked your sportsmanship. Clearly, we were a better team than the Spires, and I heard no complaints about increasing the pass count to 4-5 before shooting, and playing with your non-dominant hand.
Overall, a great first game. Final score: 13-1 (win). 69 GB, 19 shots on goal, 13 goals, and zero assists. This year, stats are being kept a bit differently. If a seasoned player has a good pass thrown to her, and she misses the pass but get possession of the GB, this will not count as a GB since the player should have caught the pass. If anybody wants to know their individual stats, send me an e-mail or talk to me at practice. I expect everybody to do much better as the season progresses.

LUYAA Scrimmage - Victorious Warriors
March 24, 2009 --
Our Sunday scrimmage was a good venue to test our skills which we have been working on so hard over the last several weeks. We looked good but there are areas in which we need to improve. Let's have a good practice week in preparation for our first game on 3/28.
