    RB-Ryan Smith-Sr.-Urbana

    OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
    RB-Ryan Smith-Sr.-Urbana
This season Ryan rushed the football 205 times for 1,861 yards and 27 touchdowns. He averaged 9.1 yard per carry. He accomplished this while playing in only 9 football games. In many of Urbana's games he did not play very much in the second half. Ryan is the area leader in rushing yards and touchdowns. Coach Joe Polce used Smith only on offense for most of the season to save him for the playoff run. Ryan was all-area in 2005 as a defensive back. Ryan is an excellent student at Urbana High School with a 3.7 grade point average in Honors and AP classes. He is a member on the National Honor Society and is a positive leader in our school. Ryan works very hard at everything he does and always wants to be the best (classroom, weight room, practice field). He is well respected at Urbana by administers, teachers, and his fellow students. If you were to talk to Ryan you would never now he is a "star" athlete. He is very humble and always shares the spotlight we his teammates. Ask the coaches, Jeff Phillips in unblockable one on one, and does a great job against a double team. His combination of speed (4.7) and strength (300 lb BP) make him a great defensive player, and on top of that he has a motor that goes at a different speed than most! STATS: 104 total tackles (62 first hits, 42 assists) that's a lot for a down linemen. 10 QB sacks, 24 tackles for a loss, 10 QB hurries, 11 special team tackles. He led our team in first hits (unassisted tackles), QB sacks, QB hurries, tackles for loss, fumble recoveries.---Linganore Head Coach Rick Conner.

    COACH OF THE YEAR
    Ben Wright-Thomas Johnson
Led Thomas Johnson to 9-2 season after winning 0 games in 2003, 2 in 2004, 6 in 2005. Pats averaged 33.3 points a game while advancing to the Maryland 4A Playoffs.

Everyone from seniors to freshman lookup to his abilities on the field and his dedication to the weight room and football program. His character in the hallways of FHS are second to none. He is admired by everyone in the FHS community. He shattered three school records (tackles in a game, tackles in a season, and tackles in a career). Not too bad considering the pressure he had on him from home. The three records he broke were all held by his older bother and current Shepherd defensive end T.J. Taylor. Quentin has been named All Piedmont Conference first team Linebacker and to the Baltimore Touchdown Club All Star Game so far this season. He is looking at several D-1AA schools---Frederick Assistant Brandon Brewbaker.
