Email from Coach Tanner - September 24, 2009
Northeast Soccer Players and Parents;
U of Md. Vs. N. Carolina:
1. Didn't realize this but this game tomorrow is a rematch of last year's national finals.
2. The stadium holds 7,000 people and will probably be sold out.
3. I took a poll yesterday and 10 JV players indicated that they wanted to go + 6 parents and 16 varsity + dates
+ a couple unsure and perhaps a couple more dates. Therefore, I'm ordering 40 tickets.
4. Because we're ordering over 20 tickets they will be only $4.00 each.
5. We need drivers so let me know who's driving and how many people you can carry. I know that so far the
following parents are going and driving (please let me know how many your vehicles can hold):
Flanagan
Woolsoncroft
Sierra
Hess
6. We need to leave by 6:00 P.M. so be at Northeast before that. All seats are general admission so first
come first serve. If we don't get there early we won't get good seats.
7. No varsity practice tomorrow.
Survivor Night: The varsity seems to lack the spirit, fight and desire to win so necessary to compete at this level or any level for that matter. Towards the promotion of the development of that characteristic I'm proposing something that I've never tried before. No varsity practice next Friday but instead we will spend the afternoon at my house participating in a variety of challenges. These challenges will be completed by teams of 4-5 players and new teams will be created for each challenge. Friday evening the players will camp out on our lawn so we'll need camping gear (my idea of "roughing it" is having to sleep in a twin bed in a Sheraton). Please let me know what camping gear you can provide. Parents will be welcome to come over Friday night and observe these activities. Please let me know if any of you will be coming by so we can plan on Friday's dinner and/or Saturday morning's breakfast. Saturday morning players will participate in the completion of the remainder of the tasks. Varsity players need to let me know ASAP if they cannot participate in any part of this event.
Thanks!

Soccer Players and Families;
We are about to start our season: our Labor Tournament kicks off this weekend. Please note the following:
1. Concessions: Parents: you are the best! Of the 60 1/2 hr. blocks of time they're all filled but 13 of them. Please check it out by going to www.NortheastSoccer.org and selecting "Concessions Schedule"
2. Field Trip: Julie Peak has organized two field trips as you know. She is collecting money tomorrow and this weekend
3. Golf Tournament: Northeast is sponsoring a golf tournament on Monday, Sept. 28th (NO SCHOOL). I'm not a golfer but I will be participating and would love to get as many foursomes representing the soccer team as possible. They need 100 golfers and it's $100.00/person including food, drink, golf and prizes. I'm hoping we can get at least 20. Let me know if you'd like to play.
4. Pre-Season Labor Day Party: 4 people still haven't opened the eVite and 12 have opened it but haven't responded. Please do so ASAP and if you have responded make sure you're signed up to bring something: you can check the complete list by selecting: "View Responses" in the "Reply Here" box.
5. Game Announcer: We need someone willing and interested in making announcements during our home games. Please contact me immediately if you're interested.
6. CD Sales: We sold about 75 CDs and have extended sales until Tuesday. Would like to set up a display during the tournament in the concession booth and perhaps pass out flyers at the gate.
7. Program: We're still looking for advertisers in our program. Contact me if you have a business that would be interested.
8. Scrimmage Vests: please turn in your scrimmage vests ASAP
9. Uniforms: please bring both home (white) and away (black) jerseys to the tournament games
Thanks!

Parents and Players;
When given a task I have a tendancy to sprint before I can crawl. Unfortunately, I only know one way to do something and that is with 100% of my energy. I can't do something half-hearted. So, if I'm overwhelming you and your children with all of these soccer related activities I apologize. Please keep in mind that many of these activities truly are optional for the players and parents. I just want to provide the opportunity for everyone to get the most possible out or our soccer program. Things should calm down from here on out while we focus on our games.
Right now please note the following:
1. Emails: We would like to get both the parent's and the player's email addresses so that we're sure that the info reaches both. Players: if this email is yours please make sure your parents read this. And likewise, parents: if this email address is yours please make sure that the info gets passed onto your children.
2. Friday (tomorrow): JV plays in the stadium (they must set up the field) and the varsity follows.
2. Uniforms: any JV players missing uniforms and all varsity players should get theirs tomorrow before the scrimmage
3. Saturday: As you should know player/parent/coach conferences are scheduled for this Saturday, August 29th. This date was established way back in June when we first met with players and parents and handed out a schedule of events. Granted, many things have changed on that schedule, but this is one thing that never has. We are allotting only 10 minutes per player, so things must move smoothly and quickly. You cannot be late. We have coordinated these times with the car wash that we’re conducting. The players working each hour of the car wash are scheduled for their conference during that time. Please bring with you to the conference:
a. your handbook: we have some things to add and/or replace in your book
b. your coaches evaluation: it’s in your handbook: bring it and submit it anomynously
c. your parents (if possible and if desired: this is not mandatory)
d. your CD sales package and any orders that you took.
We are asking for parent volunteers to help with the car wash and we're only asking for about one hour of your time. Go to our website at www.NortheastSoccer.org to sign up to help. THE CAR WASH is being held at Autozone on Mountain Road. Each player is assigned only a one hour slot.
If you can't make the time you're assigned please call or email another player to make a swap and let us know of the change.
4. Study Hall: For those players on academic probation there is a mandatory study hall starting this Monday in the media center and every Monday and Wednesday. Please note that all players are welcome and encouraged to participate. I would like to offer a study hall every day and have a classrom but need a monitor. Please contact me to volunteer if you'd like.
5. Labor Day Party: An eVite was sent out. Please respond ASAP. The eVite should provide for a list of possible items to bring to share. Please select an item from the eVite (as you do it disappears from the list).
6. CD Sales: Please make one last push to sell a couple. Certainly there must be a couple of people in your family or circle ot friends that are hard to buy for and would find this a good gift. If we sell 200+ you'll get all of the crabs you can eat at the Labor Day weekend party.
7. Field Trips: Julie Peak is organizing a couple of field trips. One is to D.C. United on Saturday, Sept. 12th. Although not yet confirmed, tickets will be $22.00 each. On Friday, Sept. 25th the U. of Md. plays N. Carolina at 8:00 P.M. and tickets are only $8.00 each. We encourage all players and parents to go. Info to be posted on the website soon. If you want to go but are broke (like many of us) please let me know.
8. Concessions: Please check out our website where you'll find a sign-up for concessions for the Labor Day weekend tournament. WE NEED LOTS OF HELP.
9. Boosters: need everyone interested to come to the next boosters meeting. Only one parent was there last time. Very disappointing.
As always: thanks for your involvement and your support. Check your email daily. Use our website at www.NortheastSoccer.org.

Coaches, Players and Parents;
Many things are happening and we want to keep you informed:
1. Tournament: Although I'm waiting for one last final confirmation from every school involved the schedule has been finalized for the tournament:
Friday, Sept. 4th: JV plays in the stadium vs. Queen Anne's at 5:00 P.M. Varsity plays after that game vs. Queen Anne's at 7:00 P.M.
Saturday, Sept. 5th: Varsity plays Northwestern in the stadium at 4:00 P.M. JV plays after that game against Bowie at 6:00 P.M.
2. The schedule has been revised at DigitalSports.com and should (or will very shortly) match our schedule on our website at www.NortheastSoccer.org.: I will print and hand out revised schedules this Saturday during the car wash and player/parent/coaches indiividual confereneces.
3. Car Wash: schedule attached; Fred Engel is adding it to our website at www.NortheastSoccer.org.
4. Player/Parent/Coaches Conferences: schedule attached; to be conducted while we're working the car wash and again Fred Engel is adding it to our website.
5. Field Trips: Julie Peak is organizing two field trips and we'll get these added to the website. They are:
Saturday, Sept. 12th: D.C. United vs. Seattle at 7:30 P.M.
Friday, Sept. 25th: U. of Md. vs. N. Carolina at 8:00 P.M.
6. CD Sales: If you HAVE NOT received the CD sales package info get it immediately. They are to be turned in this Saturday during the conferences. REMEMBER: If we sell 200 CDs you'll get ALL YOU CAN EAT FREE CRABS at the pre-season party on Sunday, Sept. 6th. That means each player only has to sell 5! That should be easy: Grandma and Grandpa; one Aunt and Uncle; one for your brother or sisters stocking; one for a teacher and one for a friend. SEE! Wasn't that easy?
7. Academic Probation: Mandatory meeting tomorrow with academic adviser at school.
8. Study Hall: for varsity players will start Wednesday (if time allows) or Thursday. Parents that want it to be mandatory attendance need to let me know.
That's it! I hope that I'm not overwhelming you with all of this. Things should calm down from here. Thanks for your patience, your enthusiasm, your involvement and for all of your wonderful kids.

Email from Coach Tanner - August 20, 2009
Players and Parents;
I am attaching the following documents:
1. The player cut list: Several of you are lucky that Coach O'Dea is a nice guy. He made the decision last night that he wasn't going to cut anyone from the JV team. So, congratulations to those of you on the JV. As a result, several of you varsity players are lucky because it softened my heart and therefore we're not cutting any varsity players. So, congratulations and count your blessings. I was going to cut several and I suggested that Coach O'Dea cut as many as six. There are two players that we haven't been able to evaluate completely and that's Jason Thomas who became ill this week and Michael Knopp who has sick the entire tryout. So, upon looking at those two players they will be placed appropriately. As a result our numbers are bigger than I'd prefer but not so much as to affect us. We're at 21 JV and 19 varsity (not counting Knopp and Thomas).
2. Calendar: A revised calendar is attached. Please note the following:
a. back to school night on August 27th was added
b. varsity practice for tomorrow morning from 7:30-9:30 A.M. at Tick Neck and in the evening from 5:30-7:00 P.M. was added (due to Spalding backing out of our varsity scrimmage)
c. varsity scrimmage Saturday, August 22nd vs. St. Mary's at 4:00 P.M. was added
d. Monday, Sept. 28th: practice was eliminated due to Yom Kippur
e. Wednesday, Sept. 16th: boosters meeting added
f. game vs. Meade on Oct. 13th moved to Monday, Oct. 12th (due to teacher furlough day on Friday, Oct. 16th)
g. game vs. Annapolis on Oct. 15th moved to Wed., Oct. 14th (due to teacher furlough day)
h. no practice on Friday, Oct. 16h (due to teacher furlough day)
i. Oct. 21st: boosters meeting added
PLEASE NOTE: We're still working on confirming our play days, times and opponents for our tournament. Please bear with us! St. Benedicts cannot compete so we're scrambling to find a replacement.
3. Soccer Club: attaching a draft of ideas. I was very disappointed that more soccer parents didn't show up for the boosters meeting last night. Read my draft attached and hopefully you'll see the value of establising a soccer club and I'll get back to you about the next meeting. I think that we'll have to do it way before the boosters meet again.
Boosters: We need people to help with the general boosters as well and hope that you can attend their meetings.
Concessions: We need to provide help with concessions so please get involved. Especially during our tournament when we may have games all day Saturday (from 10:00-10:00) and could make a lot of money at the stand. We would love to see varsity parents work during the JV games and JV parents work during the varsity games. With over 20 players on each team if everyone volunteered you'd only have to work about an hour each.
Coaches: Please note that we're working on adding two additional volunteer coaches:
Glenn Groh: Northeast goalkeeper that graduated last year
Mark Sutton: Northeast graduate that played for Coach Tanner previously
Tick Neck Turf: I'll be composing and passing around a petition to express our support of an artificial turf field at Tick Neck.
This is an exciting time for Northeast High School, Eagles athletics and the soccer program. Why do I say that?
1. the school is getting a multi-million dollar renovation
2. the athletic program is getting a new stadium with a beautiful artificial surface and the possibility of a second artificial surfaced field at Tick Neck
3. the soccer program is on the path to surprise some teams this fall
GET INVOLVED! For all we've done for your kids already we need your help in return for your kids to reap the greatest reward from our program.
Coach S. Tanner and the Entire Soccer Coaching Staff
P.S. My personal schedule looks like this:
Friday
7:30-9:30 A.M. Varsity Practice
4:00 P.M. I want to attend as much of the JV scrimmage vs. Spalding as I can
5:30-7:30 P.M. Varsity practice

Saturday:

10:30 A.M. I head to Annapolis to set up for a music gig at Rams Head in Annapolis. The music studio where I take guitar lessons has all 6 ensemble groups competing in a "battle of the bands".If interested you can get tickets online at www.RamsHeadOnStage.com. They're $13.00 and they've actually sold almost 200 tickets (the place only holds about 325 people). Come and support my band. The performances start at 12:00 P.M. and finish at 3:00 P.M. (we're last)
4:00 P.M. Varsity scrimmage vs. St. Mary's
5:30-7:30 P.M. JV practice
Good thing I don't have a job!

Northeast Soccer Players and Parents;
I hope that I'm not making you crazy with emails but I find that despite my multiple efforts to inform people about what's happening somehow people still seem capable of missing the info. So I will continue to send you emails. You should also check out our soccer website at www.NortheastSoccer.org. The complete schedule of events is listed. I will continue to work on updating the site and adding info that needs to be communicated.
CHANGES: Please note the following schedule changes: we just discovered that we cannot practice on Tuesday, August 18th-Thursday, August 20th before 2:00 P.M. (new Md. state policy): therefore instead of a morning session from 7:30-9:30 there will be an afternoon session from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at Tick and an evening session from 8:30-10:30 P.M. at Tick Neck. PLEASE CALL ME immediately if you think that I'm crazy to practice this late (remember, it's a non-school night) but I want to provide the maximum recovery time for players between session. Therefore, our schedule will look as follows:
Friday, August 14
6:00 P.M. Coaches will be lining the fields: not sure that we need help but you're welcome to stop by
Saturday, August 15
7:30 A.M. Parent/player/coaches meeting
8:30-10:30 A.M. Morning Training Session
10:30-11:30 A.M. Goalkeepers/Shooting (optional for field players)
5:30-7:30 P.M. Evening Training Session
7:30-8:30 P.M. Goalkeepers/Shooting (optional for field players)
Sunday, August 16th
6:00 P.M. Pick up game at Tick Neck
Monday, August 17th
7:30-9:30 A.M. Morning Training Session (Tick Neck)
9:30-10:30 A.M. Goalkeepers/Shooting (optional for field players)
5:30-7:30 P.M. Evening Session (Sunset)
7:30-9:30 P.M. Goalkeepers/Shooting (optional for field players)
Tuesday-Thursday
2:00-4:00 P.M. Afternoon Session (Tick Neck)
4:00-5:00 P.M. Goalkeepers/Shooting (optional for field players)
8:30-10:30 P.M. Evening Session
Friday, August 21:
4:00 P.M. JV scrimmage vs. Spalding
Varsity scrimmage vs. Northwestern
Saturday, August 22:
7:30-9:30 A.M. Morning Training Session
9:30-10:30 A.M. Goalkeepers/Shooting (optional for field players)
5:30-7:30 P.M. Evening Training Session
7:30-8:30 P.M. Goalkeepers/Shooting (optional for field players)
This will probably be our last double session.
TRYOUTS: We start with double sessions tomorrow Saturday, August 15th. Prior to the morning training session I wanted the kids to meet with us to allow us to hand out:
a soccer ball
a scrimmage vest
a water bottle
their player handbook
Since we were meeting with the players to hand out and go over some things I wanted parents to be invited to attend as well so that we can collect all remaining parent permission and physical forms, so that everyone understands what we're doing, what will be expected of their child and perhaps even of them, what the schedule will be like and to meet all of the coaches if you haven't done so yet. I know that it's early Saturday morning but just think: when the meeting is finished you can go back to sleep while we will be with your kids until 10:30. (and back with them again at 5:30). Please try to attend.
In the evening we will have another session from 5:30-7:30 P.M. The evening sessions will always end with a full field scrimmage. You are welcome to attend and watch any part of or all of our sessions.
Although no special equipment is required please be sure that you child:
1. comes well hydrated: they should drink plenty of fluids (not soda: water or juices) the night before and the moring of
2. although we will provide water they could/should bring their own as well
3. a gym bag: this will be helpful to keep their soccer, scrimmage vest, player binder and water bottle in
4. wear shin guards
PARENT PERMISSION FORM: Your child CANNOT practice unless this is handed in and they (Northeast High School) prefers that we get them before Saturday morning. You can take them to school this week or bring them to Tick Neck tonight.
PHYSICALS: Your child CANNOT practice unless they have passed a physical. Again, we need this paperwork ASAP (preferably before Saturday morning)
GOALKEEPERS: We are asking goalkeepers to stay after each training session to allow us to work with them individually (and will ask for any player that wants to help us to stay after practice as well). We have also ordered four brand new Adidas goalkeeper uniforms. They're nothing fancy but they look nice and we just thought that goalkeepers should get a uniform just like all the other players.
The excitement grows every day for us as August 15th gets closer. We can't wait!

Email from Coach Tanner - August 3, 2009
Just a brief note about a couple of things:
1. Monday, August 10th: 7:00 P.M. is meet the coaches night at Northeast. I may be attending a St. Jane meeting at that time but Coach D. Tanner, Coach O'Dea (J.V. coach) and Coach Whipps (varsity volunteer) should be there. It is imperative that I attend the St. Jane meeting to promote our program, make them aware of our desire to acquire 2 more volunteer coaches (how about any of you parents out there?); the use of the practice field, ask about St. Jane teams playing at halftime of our home games, etc.
2. Thursday, August 13th: 6:00 P.M. (?) is 9th grade orientation
3. Charity CD Fund Raiser: keep working on them. Don't give up. I think that we've sold about 50 CDs.
4. Pick Up Games: Good turnout this past Sunday (over 20 players) and remember, since the summer league has ended we're putting Wednesday's back on the calendar. I probably will not be there this Wednesday (having a minor surgery performed during the day).
5. August 15th: First day of practice! Don't wait until then to start running. Spend some time every day if possible running some sprints and distance. Otherwise, you may regret it the first couple weeks of practice.
6. Individual Training Video: Sorry this has taken so long to complete. I'm at the mercy of my friend that's helping me put it together. The last step has been to add music and the dialogue. Many of you may find this helpful in improving your skills in a short period of time. I'll provide you with a copy as soon as I get them.
7. Summer League: Now that it's completed please take to heart what I said after the varsity's last game this past Thursday: reflect back and think about how quickly those 14 games went by and what you experienced was equivalent to a full fall soccer season. The point to be made is that you can't afford to waste any time: not one minute in practice and not one minute in any game. Cherish every moment that you get to play and take advantage of those minutes in practice to become the best soccer player that you can become. Don't wait until November and say: "What happened to the fall soccer season?". It'll be too late then.
Thanks!

Northeast Soccer Players:
A couple of items again tonight:
(1) Training Program: Thanks to Riley Flanagan, Cody Woolsoncroft and Evan Peak we completed the filming of the individual training program today. Now we need to edit the CD and add the audio. We'll get copies to everyone ASAP but meanwhile the program was emailed and there's no reason why you can't perform it starting now.
(3) Fund Raising: Everyone should make an effort to sell the CDs. Please send me a list of your sales as you make them and I'll post the list weekly. Consider trying to sell them:
a. to friends and relatives: call or email everyone you know and encourage them to support our program
b. at your parents work: give them the sales package to take with them one or two days
c. door to door in your neighborhood
d. door to door to businesses: the "Chillout" CD is great for a business that plays background music intheir store
e. at a local strip plaza or grocery store like Lauer's: you'll need permission but you could set up on the sidewalk with a CD player playing the demo CDs that I have and ask people to they enter the store if they'd like to support the Northeast soccer program and buy a music CD.

To All Soccer Players;
I wanted to address a couple of issues. Although I went over the "Individual Training Program" that I designed and developed last night at Tick Neck with about 7 of you I wanted to send eveyone a copy of the program.
We are also just starting a fund raising program which was handed out to the 9 JV summer league players tonight but I wanted to send it to everyone. Even if you're not playing summer soccer if you participate in the fund raising program we will all benefit. If we sell 150 CDs we will make enough money to pay for the summer league and cover the cost of the Labor Day pre-season party including all the crabs that you can eat. So I hope you can use that as your incentive. That's less than 10 CDs each.
Please note the following:
1. Fund Raising:
a. Because my printer didn't work very well and also so that you can save the document to your hard drive in case you have to/want to give a copy to a potential customer I am attaching the customer cover letter including the song list
b. I am attaching your sales cover letter that describes the sales program that I forgot to hand out tonight
c. Checks are to be written to Northeast High School
d. My wife will hand out the sales package to the varsity after their summer league game tomorrow
e. I have additional packages available for parents that want to help sell the CDs
Please participate and help raise some money to pay for the summer league and other things that you will all benefit from.
2. Individual Training Program:
a. I am attaching the program including the chart.
b. I need help demonstrating and filming the program Wednesday morning at 10:00 A.M. on the game field at Tick Neck
Everyone can benefit from the program. Print it and use it every day or as often as you can. If you to improve your skills I'm convinced that this will help. However, I do want feedback about the program.
What do you like and what don't you like? Does it work? Let me know what you think.
3. Drop In Play: I know that the JV has a summer league game but the varsity and anyone not playing summer soccer is welcome to show up at Tick Neck Wednesday night. I probably will not be there. I'm thinking about going to the Gold Cup games at RFK. But you shouldn't need me to be there. Just go, pick up teams and have fun playing. I don't need to be there.
Thanks!

Just a couple of notes:
1. JV summer league: I'm having trouble revising our calendar on our website but keep checking it at: www.northeastsoccer.org. The JV changes are:
a. the game on July 22nd from moved to 7:00 P.M.
b. a second game was added on July 27th at 7:00 P.M. (that's right: that's in addition to the game that you're already scheduled to play at 5:00 P.M.)
2. Despite the JV playing on Wednesday nights so many players showed up last Wednesday to play at Tick Neck the drop-in games are back on for Wednesday night.
3. We couldn't get in a tournament this fall so we're hosting our own. It will include JV and varsity and will take place Labor Day weekend. That's the good news. The bad news is, without knowing who they were, I invited St. Benedict's from New Jersey. They accepted and are coming to town. I subsequently discovered that they are one of the best boys high school soccer programs IN THE COUNTRY. They have produced U.S. men's team national players Claudio Reyna and Tab Ramos not to mention that they graduate a handful of seniors every year that go on to play Division One college soccer on full soccer scholarships. So, be prepared! Queen Anne's is also coming and I'm looking for another top quality team. I'm hoping next year to bill this as a 4 state tournament and get the other 3 teams to come from 3 different states.
4. Grades are out. If you have below a 2.0 and/or have failed more than one class you are ineligible. If you fit into this scenario please contact me immediately. You must attend summer school. If you do and pass you will be eligible for the fall.
5. I'm working on an individual training program that I will distribute and go over with anyone that shows up at Tick Neck tonight. I'm putting the whole program on video on Monday so anyone interested can come to Northeast Monday morning and assist us and perhaps get in the video.
6. I have a fund raiser ready to go. I'll distribute it tonight at tomorrow night after the varsity game, Sunday at Tick Neck and Monday after the JV game. We're selling music CDs to cover the cost of the summer league first and then use for other items if anything is leftover. For those that have paid for the summer league will be able to get reimbursed based upon how much they sell.
Thanks!

I am attaching the updated player contact information once again. I added one last column that indicates those that have paid for the summer 8 aside league. If that information is not accurate please let me know. If you still owe please pay ASAP. I also started adding parents names under the players names. If possible please send me parents names so that I can add them to the list. To date I've focused on learning player's names and so far I think that I've learned all 40 or so that I've met. Now I'll work on the parents. Also note the "NEED" sections. I'm still missing some contact info for some players. Please help me with this missing information.
I'm working on updating all of the information on the Eagle soccer website. For those that don't know anything about it you can find it at www.northeastsoccer.org. It's actually a really good site. Check out the calendar that has been updated through August. Please note the following significant changes:
(1) No more "drop-in" play on Wednesdays until the summer league ends. We have enough going on with JV playing M & W and varsity on T & Th. We will continue the drop in play on Sundays.
(2) The U.S. men's national team plays Spain tomorrow at 2:30 P.M.
(3) All of the 8 aside league games have been added including JV and varsity. Please note the JV make up game from June 17th is to be played this Sat. June 27th at 11:00 A.M.
I have developed an individual training program that I may share with you soon. It's designed to enable players to work on their individual skills without anyone else. I'm considering taping a demonstration and posting it on the Northeast website. I'll let you know when that happens.
I'm also working on a fund raiser for those that participated in the summer leagues to get them their money back. I already owe the JV $5.00 each since you didn't get t-shirts.
Thanks!

Just got the word that we did get a JV team into the summer league. I would like to conduct a meeting Sunday night around 7:30 P.M. at Tick Neck Park after our drop-in play (which will probably be on the rear field). If you're planning on playing summer soccer in the 8 Aside league the cost is about $30.00 (if we can get 15 players on the roster) and you should be present for this meeting to sign the roster. Please call me or email me if you have any questions. The following is the current list of players that have indicated their desire to play. If you want to play and your name is not on the list please contact me (don't wait to come to the meeting because the roster might get filled by then). Please note: we need more JV members so help encourage those that haven't expressed an interest yet.
JV TEAM:
FRESHMAN:
Christian Sierra
Evan Peak
Nick Adams
Wayne Adams
Mathew Born
Josue Compos
Riley Flanagan
Brandon Hill (NOT SURE)
Cody Woolsoncroft
SOPHOMORES:

VARSITY TEAM:
JUNIORS:
Stephen Burgess (NOT SURE)
Shane Degreenia
Mariano Diaz
Robert Engel
Cody Koester
Josh Meekins

Northeast Soccer Players;
Great to meet with players and parents yesterday! The coaching staff is enthusiastic and optimistic about the season. I’m impressed with the number of you that are interested in playing summer soccer. That shows a true love and dedication to the game that is necessary to build a successful program.
Here’s the count on the summer league:
Freshman: 5 definite 1 undecided
Sophomores: 0 definite 1 undecided
Juniors: 6 definite
Senior: 7 definite
Unless things change dramatically I think that we should have just a varsity team in the summer league that consists of juniors and seniors. If the freshman and sophomores want a team they’ll have to show me that they have at least 11 players and preferably 15. I’ve also contacted Bob Thomas that’s running the league and told him our situation to see if perhaps there’s a group from another school that doesn’t have enough players for a team and would like to combine with our group for a combination school JV team.
I’m meeting again Thursday night at the school cafeteria with those players that didn’t make the meeting last night. Although I’ve called each one individually there were several that I couldn’t get a hold of so please help spread the word and encourage those players unsure about playing to at least meet with me tomorrow night to find out about our program, meet the new coaches and the direction for the program.
Incoming freshman can also help spread the word to other incoming freshman. There were only 9 at the meeting.
One thing that I forgot to mention last night was the establishment of a college placement system. I would like to work with each graduating senior that wants to attend college in finding the right school for them. And those that want to play college soccer we’ll be there to guide you in that direction as well.
Don’t forget your list of things to work on and do:
(1) Get involved in the summer soccer league, weight training, conditioning and drop in games at Tick Neck on Sunday and Wednesday
(4) Think about team rules, goals, fund raising and captains
(5) Be a soccer fan: go watch games live (DC United and Crystal Palace) and on TV
(6) Attend summer soccer camps
(7) Help us find another volunteer coach; team managers/scorekeepers; someone to film the games and study hall monitors
(8) Spread the word about our program and tryouts beginning on August 15th
Check the events calendar that I gave you. The U.S. plays Costa Rica tonight at 8:00 P.M. in World Cup qualifying. Tomorrow night DC United plays N.Y. at 7:30 P.M on ESPN2. Saturday the U.S. plays Honduras in World Cup qualifying at 7:00 P.M. Get together with friends and watch these games.
See you Sunday night at 6:00 P.M. at Tick Neck.
Thanks!
Coach Tanner and the Entire Northeast Soccer Coaching Staff
