The History of the National Wiffle Ball League
The National Wiffleball League began as a four team league in 2002. The Rox, Ivynators, Mustangs, and BlackCats comprised the league's teams in the first year. The Ivynators finished 9-2, but failed to win the championship. The Mustangs, who finished in second, won the championship 3 games to 1.

The Cannons followed in second with a 6-4 record. The two teams would meet in the championship where the Rapids would win the championship in a clean 4 game sweep.

The Rapids followed up 2004 with a better year in 2005. The Brook Water Rapids went 18-4 to post a league record best. The Cannons followed with a 12-10 record. The YellowJackets took over for the Ivynators and finished 12-10. The Mustangs finished 2-22, a current league record for the worst NWBL record. The Cannons and Rapids met in the title game, where the Rapids won 4 games to 3. The Rapids won two titles in their first two years.

After posting an aweful 2-22 record, the Wallace Mustangs were done. The Filippone Heat came in for the 2006 season. While the Rapids enjoyed success in 04 and 05, they finished tied for third with a 6-11 record. The BlackSox followed suit with a 11-14 record. The Cannons went 10-15 in third and the Heat finished last, with a 9-16 record. The Rapids and BlackSox met in the championship this year. In a best of five championship, the Rapids led the series 2-0, before they surrendered 3 straight games to the BlackSox. The Dowling BlackSox won the title.
