     About Us Guestbook | Weather

The NYC Mets is an 18+ adult baseball team who currently compete in the Pancho Coimbre Baseball League in Central Park. The team was founded in 1994 by Ralph Medina.

In 1994, 1995 and 1996, the NYC Mets participated in the United Youth baseball league in the Bronx. The Mets were playoff contenders all 3 of those seasons. In 1997, the NYC Mets participated in the Francisco Pena league in the Bronx and the Columbia Athletic Association in the Bronx and Manhattan. The Mets pulled out of the Francisco Pena league due to the lack of organization and remained in the Columbia Athletic Association until 1998. The Mets were eliminated in the 1997 playoffs by the Green Machine and in 1998 were eliminated in the playoffs for the 5th consecutive year.

In 1999, the Mets once again competed in the United Youth league in the Bronx where they once again made the playoffs and were eliminated. In 2000 and 2001, the Mets moved to the YMCA league based in Queens and made the playoffs both years and again were eliminated both years.

In 2002, the NYC Mets joined the Pancho Coimbre league where they went 15-2 during the regular season only to be shocked with a first round playoff loss to the D-JaXx. That offseason, the Mets were courted by an upstart league, the RBi (La Milagrosa) Baseball League to join for their inaugural season in 2003 and the NYC Mets defected and joined RBi. They went 10-3-1 and advanced to the first RBi Championship Series where they again were eliminated.

In 2004, the Mets again made the playoffs and in one of best playoff series in the RBi League's history, were eliminated by the eventual league champion Green Machine. In 2005, the Mets shocked the league by making it all the way to the league championship series with their young team. 2006 marked the first regular season in team history that the Mets did not make the playoffs. They played in the NYCMBL fall league where they went 14-2 and again were eliminated from the playoffs. In 2007, the team went 16-6 in the RBi League en route to another early playoff exit.

The NYC Mets re-joined the Pancho Coimbre League in 2008 with a completely rebuilt roster and former Green Machine manager and nemesis Ron Gilchrist at the helm and went 6-10-1 failing for the 2nd time in their history to make the playoffs.

In 2009, the NYC Mets once again altered their 2008 roster with some quality players from their past and planned on making the playoffs in the Coimbre League but due to injuries, instead went an abysmal 4-11 missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year.

In 2010, the NYC Mets will have a new manager as Ron Gilchrist was dismissed at the end of the 2009 season. The Mets plan on getting back to their winning ways by putting a competitive team on the field by stressing quality pitching and solid fundamentals on offense and defense.
