Coach Plowden and assistant coaches Kowaleski and Adams along with the entire boys basketball program would like to thank our parents, families, administrators, webmaster, custodial staff, game workers, concession volunteers and tremendous fan base as a whole for an exciting first year. We have taken our lumps, but I can definitely say that our boys competed continuously with great effort and sportsmanship. We understand that we are in the process of building but we also can feel the Panther spirit and tradition establishing itself. We did a great job of putting everyone who came across us on notice that the “PANTHERS are on the PROWL” Again, thanks to everyone who helped make this season a success. We could not have done it with out you.

Basketball Banquet
May 12, 2011
Hello student-athletes and parents. The boys and girls basketball programs will have their end of the year banquet at Ci Ci’s Pizza located at 4127 Highway 6, Sugarland TX 77478 (next to Laser Zone) on Tuesday May 24, 2011 at 6:30 pm. We want to have an informal type banquet where our kids will be able to have a bit of fun while eating and interacting with each other. We have reserved space at the restaurant and will have the use of the video games as well. The banquet will begin promptly at 6:30 and will end once all the fun is over. The cost of the dinner will be covered for all student-athletes and coaches. Parents and any siblings that attend will have to pay for their meal, thus we tried to find a place that was economically feasible for families. Hope to see you all there!!!

June 8, 2012
Ladies,
I hope your summer is treating you well. We have arranged an opportunity for each of you to attend an open gym next week so that you can meet out new Head Basketball coach, Coach KC Onwuchekwa. In addition, we are inviting all of our incoming freshman girls so that they can meet and get to know each of you. The open gym will be Tuesday, June 12th, from 12:00-2:00 pm. Let's have a strong showing in spirit and numbers as we welcome our newest members to our Panther Family
- Coach Sexton
Hello Lady Panthers!
I wanted to take time to introduce myself to you.My name is Coach Onwuchekwa (pronounced On-woo-check-wah).I’m extremely excited to be coming in as your new basketball coach.I’ve heard of the pride you all have in your school and I hope to continue on in that tradition.
Let me give you a little background on myself.I am a graduate of Kempner High School, where I participated in many extracurricular activities including basketball, track, National Honor Society, choir and theatre. My first year at Kempner, our freshman basketball team won district. Our varsity team also had a successful season and made playoffs. I was moved up to join them during their playoff run.Bush High School opened the following year and our team was severely impacted.Even though key members of our team were lost due to zoning, the team members that remained at Kempner kept working hard to continue our winning legacy.
Sports are a big part of my family. All four of my siblings played sports throughout middle and high school. Two of my older brothers went on to play basketball on the collegiate level, at Sam Houston State and Baylor University.I ended up taking a different route.Although I received offers for basketball from many different schools, I decided on the offer from Texas A&M University to be a part of their track team.
While at A&M, I became a 3 time All American shot putter and am still the current school record holder. I worked as a volunteer assistant coach for a year while training for the 2008 Summer Olympic Trials.I competed for Nigeria in May 2008 at the All African Championships, a track meet showcasing the best track and field athletes in Africa. The competition took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and I came in 2nd place. I then competed for Nigeria at their Olympic Trials and came in 2nd place as well.Due to circumstances beyond my control, my Olympic dreams ended.Less than a year later, I began my career teaching and coaching.
For the past three years, I have been teaching science and coaching basketball and track at Karen Wagner High School in San Antonio, Texas. We have had many successes with our girls basketball team despite the fact the school has only been open since 2005.For the past three years, the team has made it to the Regional Finals twice (2010 and 2012) and got 3rd place at the State Tournament in Austin in 2011.
Sports have always been a passion of mine and I used that passion to open the door to many life opportunities.I look forward to working with the committed and proud athletes I have heard so much about to help do the same.I hope to see you all at Meet the Coach on June 12th, 2012 from 12 to 2 PM.
Sincerely,
Coach Onwuchekwa

The Ridge Point boys basketball players know how close they came last season.
Despite playing without seniors, the Panthers went into the finale of their first district campaign knowing they were in the playoffs with a win. But they lost to Texas City on a buzzer-beating shot.
They ended up .500 overall and one game out of the postseason.
"It was disappointing to be so close and not get in, but it was definitely promising from the standpoint that it gave the kids something to be hungry for," coachTerreance Plowden said.
Halfway through this season, they're still salivating.
The second-year Panthers won 10 of their first 14 games going into the District 22-4A opener against Willowridge last week, their only district contest before the mandatory five-day Christmas break.
