What is the Pre-Travel Program
The goal of our involvement in a pre-travel program is to offer children the opportunity to play additional soccer at a greater competitive level then our intramural program. This program will also allow the children to experience some of the feel of “travel soccer” without affecting the POBSC intramural program.
This in effect will allow the children another venue to play more soccer at a higher level. While pre-travel is not intended to be overly competitive by nature, it will help the parents and children get a little better understanding of the increased competitive feel of a “travel” atmosphere.
The following protocols have been established by the Plainview Old Bethpage Soccer Club Executive Board; please follow each and every rule without change, unless voted on, approved and notified by the POBSC Executive Board.
The following rules have been established to offer each child, what we feel, should be only the finest soccer experience:
1. Both boy & girl divisions will adhere to the same rules (if applicable) as set by the POBSC Executive Board
2. The pre-travel program should be designed to offer a more competitive version of intramural's while allowing as many children to have an opportunity to play.
3. The pre-travel program is broken up into different levels of play (Major, Intermediate and Minor divisions); after conferring with the Intramural VP, the DH will place each team into the appropriate division.
4. A child will not be permitted to play “pre-travel” for any particular week if they did not play in their intramural game that weekend, NO exceptions.
5. Each child must play a minimum 50% of the game.
6. Starting line-ups will be on a rotation basis week to week.
7. Travel Directors, Division Head, Pre-travel Coordinators, Executive VP and VP of Intramurals should attend several games during the season to get a better understanding of skill levels of the children for use in regards to helping evaluate possible future travel aspirations.
8. Coaches will be selected by the appropriate Division Head's, and must be an an existing coach with their completion of Risk Management.
9. In NO way are these teams constituted for any purposes other then the pre-travel league format.
Associated Fees:
Registration & Fees- All teams will incur a $300 registration fee (split between rostered players), plus a $9 per player fee for insurance purposes.
These fees are completely separate from any payments made to POBSC for intramural registration. All fees must be made in full before any child can be able to participate in this program.
