Tenaris Bantam 'AA' Wildcats Win Gold in North York

The Sault’s Tenaris Bantam ‘AA’ Wildcats captured their third tournament title of the season this past weekend blanking the Whitby Wolves 3-0 in Sunday’s final of the North York Storm Tournament in Toronto. Cody-Lee Deevey earned the shutout while Jenna Mitchell, Lydia Murray and Jana Headrick supplied the goals for the winners. The tournament victory was the first ‘AA’ title of the season following earlier ‘A’ division victories.

The Wildcats advanced to the championship final following a dramatic 2-1 overtime semi-final victory over the Willowdale Redwings, who had tied the game with less than one second left in the third period. Defenceman Edie Levesque had both goals for the Sault.

In earlier round-robin action Danielle Watling fired a hat-trick while Kaylee Hill and Megan Turcotte had single markers in a 5-1 victory over the hometown North York Storm while Mitchell had the lone marker in a 1-1 tie with Willowdale and Logan Carrick, Evra Levesque, and Murray scored in a 3-1 victory over Whitby.

Other key contributing members of the Tenaris Wildcats include Taylor Smith, Jamie-Lynn Anich, Rebecca Julien, Casie King, Briley Gregory, Darcee McCaig and Lauren Rimmer.

Next action for the Tenaris squad will be April 13th – 15th when they will close out the season at the OWHA Bantam ‘AA’ Provincial Championships in Toronto.

Tenaris Bantam ‘A’ Wildcats Strike Gold in Whitby

The Sault’s Tenaris Bantam Wildcats captured the Whitby Tournament of Heroes title this past weekend with a 5-2 victory over the London Devilettes in the championship final. Evra Levesque fired a pair of goals while Lydia Murray, Jenna Mitchell, and Darcee McCaig added single markers in the contest. The Sault club advanced to the final following a 4-0 semi-final victory over the Oshawa Lady Generals. Murray had a pair of goals while Mitchell and Megan Turcotte had solo markers. Taylor Smith had the shutout.

In earlier round-robin action, Murray fired a hat-trick, Turcotte added a single marker and Cody-Lee Deevey had the shutout in a 4-0 victory over the Bluewater Hawks. Mitchell had a pair of goals while Lauren Rimmer and Murray added single markers and Smith had the shutout in a 4-0 win over the hometown Whitby Wolves. Levesque had a pair of goals while Rimmer, Mitchell and Murray added single markers in a 5-0 shutout over the Scarborough Sharks. Deevey supplied the shutout netminding.

The tournament title is the second of the season for the Tenaris squad who will resume NIHL league action on December 17th at home against Escanaba.

Tenaris Bantam ‘A’ Wildcats Capture Willowdale Tournament Title

The Sault’s Tenaris Bantam Wildcats went undefeated through five games this past weekend bringing home gold from their season opening Willowdale Redwing Tournament in Toronto. The Wildcats captured the tournament title stopping the previously undefeated Etobicoke Dolphins 6-1 in the championship final. Logan Carrick fired a pair of goals while Evra Levesque, Jenna Mitchell, Lauren Rimmer and Lydia Murray added single markers.

In Friday’s opening round-robin action, two goals each from Mitchell and Murray and singles from Levesque, Rimmer, and Briley Gregory led the Sault to a 7-0 shutout over the Barrie Sharks while Carrick’s hat-trick led the Bantams to an 8-1 victory over the Brampton Canadettes. Murray added a pair while Gregory, Mitchell, and Darcee McCaig chipped in with solo goals. Taylor Smith earned the shutout over Barrie.

Saturday’s action saw Mitchell fire a pair of goals to lead the Wildcats to a 3-0 shutout over the Leaside Wildcats. Smith earned the shutout while Carrick added the single marker. The Wildcats completed round-robin action on Sunday morning with a convincing 10-1 drubbing over the Kitchener Lady Rangers. Mitchell had a hat-trick, while Megan Turcotte added a pair of goals and Danielle Watling, Carrick, Levesque, Murray and McCaig chipped in with solo markers.

Other key contributing members of the Bantam Wildcats include Jamie Lynn Anich, Cody Deevey, Kaylee Hill, Jana Headrick, Rebecca Julien, Casie King and Edie Levesque.
