God created this day for..
gain.. not loss,
success..not failure,
Positive actions not negative thoughts.
O Lord inspire us with desire for greatness,
To wisely use these gifts and talents you have
so generously given to us. They are tools to be used up,
not treasures to be stored up.
Create in these young Athletes:
The RIGHT ATTITUDE to excel in the classroom and life,
The attitude that says "I can reach deeper inside myself".
The FIRM BELIEF in God, themselves, their families,
their coach and their teammates.
The ENDURING COMMITMENT to persevere,
To never quit no matter what the score,
To never give up no matter what the odds.

As I prayed for you today
To guide you and protect you
As you go along your way....
His love is always with you
His promises are true
No matter what the tribulation
You know He will see us through
So, when the road you're traveling on
Seems difficult at best
Give your problems to the Lord
And God will do the rest.

Dear God,
As we walk through these gymnasium doors, give us the strength and the knowledge to leave all of our jealousies, attitudes, and petty arguments outside in the hallway.
God, as we come together in this gym, please join us mentally and mold us as a team. Not as individuals, but as one. Just like soldiers going into battle...Help us to fight for each other, protect each other, support each other, and stand up for each other.
Help each of us to find the desire that we all have somewhere in our hearts. Give us the endurance and dedication to work to achieve our goals. Help us to go onto that mat and face our opponents with pride, the pride that comes when we put on our uniform.
God, renew that feeling inside of us. Help those who have forgotten, to remember. We know that the only way to victory is through your guidance.
God, please guide us over the next couple of hours as we prepare to make this happen, here at this competition. Amen

Oh Lord...
Guide us Oh Lord, as we practice each day,
To begin with a prayer, and end the same way,
Help us Oh Lord, as a team to be one,
To offer to you, what is lost or is won.
Guide us Oh Lord, as we strive to succeed,
To keep you in our hearts, as we cheer and we lead.
Help us Oh Lord, be light for each other,
To respect, to accept, and build up one another.
Send your angels Oh Lord, to our bases for strength,
As they lift and they turn, their teammates at length.
Help them Oh Lord, our spots and our back,
To take serious their part, to guide and keep track.
For our team as a whole, may we learn how to be,
True children of peace, for our community.
May the St. James cheerleaders be one blessed by thee,
Keep us safe on our way, and lead us close to thee. Amen.

Team Traveling Prayer...
Almighty God, you have appointed your angels to guide and protect us, please direct them to be our attentive defenders as we set out for todays competition, to cover us with their protection on our journey, to keep us out of harms way during our competition and finally, having shield us from all evil and sin, guide us home safely. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Dear Guardian Angel...
Our Cheerleading Angel,
whose spirit lives on the sidelines,
holiest are your pom poms,
Your spirit comes,
your pride will be done,
on the sidelines, in competition, and at practice.
Lead us away from laziness,
forgive us our mistakes,
and grant us the strength to make every motion count,
every stunt stick,
and every routine amaze.
Give us daily discipline and self-confidence,
but deliver us from disrespecting those who compete against us.
May the spirit, the pride and the glory of Cheerleading live in our hearts always and forever!

The Cheerleader's Vow...
I am a cheerleader
I must wear my uniform with pride and respect or when serving in the role in which my uniform places me.
I must accept the fact that I am no longer a volunteer;
Obligations to the team means that I am punctual and never murmur when called upon to do the related duties that a cheerleader performs.
I will never allow my conduct, thoughts, attitudes, or emotions to betray the trust that others have placed in me as a member of my team!

Dear Lord...
Hold me up just a little longer Lord and help me keep smiling for one more game.
Give me the strength for one more cheer for I am so very tired.
Give me the courage to face the fans one more time, even the ones who are never around when the team is losing.
Help me say the right words when the contest is over and our team needs to be comforted.
Guide me Lord with your infinite wisdom for you are my spirit.

The Competition Prayer...
God our loving Father, we take a time out before we begin to thank you for giving us the ability and the opportunity to participate in this cheerleading competition today. We thank you by offering you the prayer of our words, actions, and attitude. This competiton is more than a competition because it expresses who and what we are. May we recognize and respect you as you come to us, in our teammates who stand by us, in our fans who support us, in our coaches who guide us, in our judges who evaluate us, and in our competitors who challenge us to be our best. May we see cheering as something we are called to do not only on the court but in life. May we see cheering as a true ministrywhere we offer support and encouragement, as well as spirit and life to others.Help us overcome our fears, help us to accept what is beyond our control, and help us to do and be our best in this competition and in life, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep...
Now I lay me down to sleep,
A pom-pom and megaphone at my feet,
Now I lay me down to rest,
I've tried my hardest and done my best
to tumble, jump, dance & cheer,
with the sharpest of motions and no trace of fear.
I know in the morning my body will ache
But, for what I love it's a price I gladly pay.
Thank you God for making me strong
with determination & commitment
when practices are long.
And Lord if I shall die before I wake,
I'll know I've shown the world,
cheerleaders were born, not made!!!
