Head Coach David Bacani
David Bacani enters his first year as head coach of SMCHS after several years of playing and coaching at the collegiate and professional levels.
Coach Bacani, second baseman and bench coach for the Orange county Flyers was a standout at NCAA Div. I Cal State Fullerton, where he was the only player in Big West Conference history to earn four all-conference first-team selections, and was twice named All-American to go with an All-College World Series selection in 2001.
Bacani then went on to play seven years in the New York Mets and Boston Red Sox organizations, reaching the Triple-A level in the Mets' farm system. He ended a professional career where he was named to four All-Star teams. He played for the Orange County Flyers in 2007-08. Last season, Coach Bacani served as the assistant coach at Concordia University. His coaching career also includes coaching at the high school level as an assistant baseball coach at JSerra Catholic High School and Orange Lutheran High School.
