     U14 - Blue Search | Weather

Playing against the top teams around, our girls had their hands full. They managed to win a couple of games however, and they were able to enjoy the experience of just being a part of it all!

    Here were the scores:
    Lost to West Side 10-2
Lost to St. Francis Red 11-1
    Lost to Woodbury (Todd) 3-1
Defeated Tartan Titans 8-7 (in extra innings!)
    Lost to Centennial Red 1-0
    Defeated Lakeville Storm 8-4
    Lost to Farmington Orange 20-4

Thanks for all the great memories, and we'll see you next season!!

    Go Tartan!

    State Tournament - July 18-19
Our ladies proved that their 4th place finish at the Tri-County was no fluke! The team began the tournament with a nice 7-5 win over Chanhassen and then proceeded to defeat the Tartan White team by a lop-sided score of 16-2. On the next day, the girls kept that momentum going by downing Area J 6-3 to secure a top-4 finish. Unfortunately, St. Francis stood in their way and defeated them 10-3 to put the team a step away from the championship. The girls regrouped and then played flawlessly to down White Bear Orange 6-0 to advance them to the championship game. Facing St. Francis for the second time, Tartan Blue turned the tables and easily won that game 9-1. Since this was St. Francis's first loss, tournament rules forced a second championship game between the same 2 teams. Unfortunately, St. Francis jumped out to an early lead in the final game and then held it to ultimately take away the championship by the score of 8-3. Tartan Blue left the field with their heads held high and well-deserved 2nd place medals! Way to go!!

Good luck to you next weekend at the National Tournament!!!

    Grrrrr!

    Tri-County Tournament
The team came out playing fast and furious and won their first two games by a single run each time (over White Bear Lake Orange 10-9, and Cottage Grove 3-2). The 3rd game was also close, but White Bear Black rallied in the final inning to take it away 9-7. Our team regrouped and proceeded to defeat Mahtomedi in a yet another nail-biter (3 to 2), and this advanced them to the final four. Unfortunately, the team ran out of gas and lost to Eagan Lynx 7-4, but finished in 4th place out of 20 teams. By making it to the top 4, they are now headed to both the State Tournament next weekend and to the Nat'l Tournament the weekend after that. You ladies ROCK!

    Hastings - July 7
The team moved several runners onto the bases in the first game, but couldn't manage to get them all home. Our Blue team lost 6-2. In the second game, the ladies scored early and built a 6-2 lead, but then they watched the lead go back to Hastings. In the final inning, down by just one run, our chances for a comeback win fell just a little short. The game ended with runners at 2nd and 3rd base. The final score was 7-6.

Mounds View Black - July 1
This game was a make-up game from a previous rainout. In the first game, our ladies played strong and took the game 8-2. In the second game however, Mounds View stepped it up and won the game by the same score 8-2. One win and One loss on this night.

    Hudson - June 30
Hudson had 3 strong pitchers and used their strongest one in the first game. Hits were hard to get, but the team managed to score one run and they had some excellent defense to make it interesting. The final score was 7-1. In the second game, our ladies had one bad inning in the field (giving up 10 runs...) and struggled with hitting as well. The final was 14-0. No luck on this night...

    Ellsworth - June 25
Our ladies played a strong first game both on offense and defense and won by the 10 run rule - 12 to 2. In the second game, Ellsworth thought they had an easy victory by taking a 13-5 lead going into the final inning. Never ones to give up, our Blue team mounted a rally and scored 6 runs before the 3rd out was called. It was a great effort, but it fell just a little short this time. The final score was 13-11.

    Tartan White - June 22
After losing to Tartan White twice earlier in the season, our Blue team desperately wanted to get even. They came out firing on all cyliders and scored 8 runs in the first inning! Tartan White buckled down after that but couldn't overcome that big head-start. Tartan Blue held onto the lead and easily won 10-7. In the second game, both teams made some nice plays and had some big hits. Suspense was building as the score was tied 10-10 in the bottom of the 6th inning. Tartan Blue was up to bat and needed just one run to prevent a tie. The lead batter walked, and then managed to get to third base with one out. With pressure on, a solid base hit up the middle clinched victory for Tartan Blue by the score of 11-10! Both games were fun to watch and it was nice to see so many of the fans cheering for both teams.

    Shakopee Father's Day Tournament - June 20-21
Below are the scores from Saturday:

    Prior Lake - won 10-3
    Eastview Storm - lost 5-4
    Shakopee - Schleif - lost 8-7
    Area J - lost 8-3

Although there were 3 losses in this tournament, our Tartan Blue team showed that they can compete against some very strong teams. They're getting better all the time!

    Mendota Blue - June 18
Our ladies put on a good show! After taking the lead early in the first game, they fended off a rally by the Mendota Blue team and claimed victory 11-10. In the second game, the team continued to hit well and make plays in the field. They won that game 12-7. This was the team's first double victory of the season!

Lakeville Summer Grand Slam Tournament - June 13-14, 2009
The team had high hopes for some success at this tournament, and although they had many strong innings, the other teams were just too much to handle on this weekend. It's time to put this one behind us and focus on the next games. Go Blue!

    Harding - June 11
This was a crazy night! In the first game, our girls could do no wrong and won by a lop-sided score of 28-1. In the second game however, Harding responded by taking that game 8-3. 1 win and 1 loss for the evening.

River Falls Blue - June 9
The team jumped out to a 7-2 lead early in the first game, but then watched that lead dwindle. In the final inning, River Falls Blue had some timely hits and stole away the game 8-7. In the second game, River Falls took an early lead and then held it to claim another win 11-5.

North Polars Black - June 2
In our first league match of the season our ladies played well, but in the end were defeated by the North Polars Black team in two close games. The scores were 7-5 and 11-10.

Sting the Ball Tournament - May 16-17, 2009
The first day of the tournament was cold and windy, and although our ladies gave it all they had, they fell victim to Centennial Red, Forest Lake Maroon, and Tartan White.

Never giving up, the team rebounded on the next day to beat White Bear Lake 7-5 - which qualified them for the Silver bracket championship. Facing the Tartan White team for the 2nd time in this tournament, our girls stepped it up a notch and managed to take a 2 run lead going into the bottom of the final inning. Unfortunately, the Tartan White girls had some timely hits and rallied to take the game 8-7. It was an exciting finish and the team left the field with 2nd place medals!

    Go Blue!
