    Some common wrestling related terms and what they mean.
    Action Start wrestling
    Ankle Lace Grabbing opponent by the ankles with the arms.
    Arm Bar Just thread your forearm behind his elbow and over his back then apply the pressure.
    Arm Throw Throw the opponent over the shoulder by holding their arm.
    Back Arching Throwing opponent from his feet onto his back.
    Body Lock Locking arms around the opponent's body.
    Body Throw Lock arms around the opponent's body and throw him to the mat.
    Bottom Position Wrestler on hands and knees..
    Bout A wrestling match.
    Breakdown Putting opponent to the mat on his stomach or side.
    Bridge Arched back over the mat.
    Bridge Out Rolling from a bridge (arched back) onto your stomach.
    Central Circle 1 meter diameter inner circle on the mat.
    Changing Levels Raising and Lowering the body.
    Crotch Lift Method used when opponent is face down for a roll-over.
    Gut Wrench Another method of getting the opponents face off the mat.
    Half Nelson Passing your arm under your opponent's armpit and placing the palm of your hand against the back of his head. Not on his neck.
    Headlock You wrap your arm around your opponent's neck and lock your hands together.
    Lifting Lifting opponent off the mat.
    Motion Maintaining proper position and balance.
    Penetration Moving forward to penetrate opponents defenses for a takedown.
    Pin Pressing opponents shoulders against the mat untill the referee blows a whistle.
    Posture Good body position or stances.
    Takedown Putting your opponent on the mat.
    Tournament Competition between 3 or more schools.
