WBBA Travel Baseball Program
Travel baseball is played in the spring and summer, and offers the opportunity to play against teams from other local communities and typically represents a more challenging and advanced level of play in comparison to the in-house and inter-township programs. The WBBA is hoping to have 2 travel teams at each age-level (8-12) for the upcoming season. Our ability to offer a 2nd team for each age group is contingent upon sufficient player interest, a volunteer coach and sufficient field availability to meet each Travel League’s Requirements. It is important to understand that tryouts will be held and not all players will be selected to a team. For WBBA’s travel program, players are required to play age pure.
For players who are selected to a team, there is a travel fee of $60 to cover umpires and other program costs(this is in addition to the normal registration fee). In addition, each player is expected to participate in their team’s weekly winter workouts. The cost of the winter workouts will be $250. These amounts are in addition to the WBBA registration fee. Most travel teams will fundraise to cover the winter workout cost however each individual is responsible for any of the costs that the fundraisers do not cover.
While travel baseball is an excellent opportunity for developing young players to enhance their skills and compete at a higher level of play, it does require a fairly significant commitment by both players and parents. All players ages 8-12, who participate in the travel program are also required to play in-house baseball. The typical week will include 2 travel games (Friday evening and Sunday afternoon), 2 in-house games (1 weekday and 1 Saturday), and one or more practices – resulting in at least 5 days of baseball each week of the season.
