The Ellington Rams Youth Football Program all started with the dream of giving the children of our community a place to learn about the game of football, cheer and drill, which we also call dance.  The team was formed with the help of many, but Eleanor "Punkin" Hesser was the driving force that brought the club together, she was the president in the early years of the Rams.  The year was 2002, when the Rams made their debut into the Bay Area Football League.  Having just enough money to cover the franchise fees, the Rams managed to participate in the season with kids that had been placed on other area teams waiting list.  The inaugural season was tough with the losses outweighing the wins but the true victory was in the making of a team of kids that never quit.  As time went by the membership of the Rams got stronger and the staff kept improving on the goals set forth before them.  The main goals were to give back to the boys and girls all that we could through everyday teaching of teamwork and dedication.  To this day the hard work has paid off with the success of our boys and girls, year end and year out.  Our girls have continued to be competitive in all BAFL events which includes placing among the top 4 out of 16 teams each year and also taking home "1st Place" honors in Drill Competition in 2006.  Our boys haven't stopped either, the Rams have one of the best teams in BAFL, the boys program has made play-off appearances in all divisions.  Coach Armando Fonseca lead the Freshman division to our first Super Bowl appearance in 2006 and again with the Sophomore division in 2007 and 2008.  Coach Fonseca also led the 2009 Junior Division Rams to the Superbowl. Also in 2007, the Freshman division made it back to the Super Bowl, not to be denied a victory this day!  In this battle, lead by Coach Damon Dixson and his awesome staff, the boys of Ellington managed to pull out a  hard faught victory over a great League City 49er's team.  After it was all said and done the Freshman made history by bringing  home the clubs first Super Bowl trophy.  In 2008 coach Dixson's Freshman Team made another trip to the Superbowl and in 2009, Coach Dixson brought home his second Super Bowl Trophy with a stunning last minute victory over the Pearland Hurricanes.  Also, in 2008 (current athletic director), Montaga Bailey led his Senior team to a stunning Super Bowl Victory over the Southbelt Dolphins.  The Dolphins came into the game with 37 consective wins including a 46-12 win over the Rams during the regular season. This was a true feat in itself in such a short time of our clubs existence.  To this day, the club owes its success to the great membership, volunteers, coaches and families that believe in our program. The Rams have come a long way in such a short time.  With such an array of amazing kids it would be wise to take note of some of the names of the boys and girls out on our field.  They all have the capacity to be the next household name.   Building football attitudes for life....Once a Ram!  Always a Ram!
