    PARENT MEETINGS - IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR PARENTS TO ATTEND THESE MEETINGS

    PLEASE FOLLOW SCHEDULE BELOW

    TINEY MITES AND MITEY MITES - 6:00 - 7:00
    JR. PEE WEE AND PEE WEE AND DANCE - 7:00 - 8:00
    JR. MIDGET AND MIDGET - 8:00 - 9:00

    ALL MEETINGS ARE AT TROJAN FIELD. PLEASE BE ON TIME!!!!!


    2009 TROJAN CHEER INFORMATION

    1. Warm ups are mandatory for all levels except Tiny/Mitey Mites

    2. Sideline attire is skirt, shell, hair bow, socks, purple spankies and white tie shoes—crop top for older girls/white turtleneck for Tiny-Mitey Mites(subject to weather)

    3. All girls will have the same game bow and socks which will be available for purchase(about $10.00). Coaches may request a competition bow/sock not to exceed $15.00(subject to board approval)

    4. Shoes for Tiny/Mitey Mites will be available for approx $35.00

    5. Shoes for all other levels are approx $50.00

    6. No one is guaranteed a specific coach or team

    7. No coaches have been selected and will be selected by a Board
    Appointed committee

    8. Cheer camp will be August 9, 2009

    9. Pop Warner Coaches clinic for new head coaches will be August 7, 2009

    10. Pop Warner Coaches clinic for all coaches will be August 8, 2009

    11. There will be a Mandatory Coaches Clinic- date TO BE DETERMINED

    12. Physicals will be available in June

    13. Report cards will be due in June

    14. Each Family must attend a “Character Counts” clinic from the Park District—


    Your Cheer season is approaching and here are a few things you can start doing to prepare for the season.

    It is never to early to start conditioning- start stretching and doing exercises to build up your endurance and strength. Practice arm movements and facial expressions in front of a mirror. Chant or sing while you are practicing to develop your voice projection. Have a great summer. We will be seeing you soon.

    MORE TIPS

    MOTION TIPS

    *Always make sure your wrists are not bent or broken!

    *Watch yourself in the mirror to make sure you have good motion placement.

    *Squeeze your muscles so that your motions are sharp and precise.

    *Relax your shoulders so that you are not shrugging.

    *Make sure you are not going too far forward or too far back.


    JUMP TIPS

    *Always point your toes!

    *Practice your jumps every day to get higher and stronger.

    *Stretch, Stretch, Stretch

    *Work on your splits and this will improve your jumps!

    *Watch yourself jump in the mirror or on video.


    SHOWMANSHIP TIPS

    *Always have natural facials instead of scary ones!

    *Smile Smile Smile!

    *Have fun in your performance to get the crowd involved.

    *Have good, loud voices so that your cheer can be heard easily.

    TUMBLING TIPS

    *Always tumble with your legs tight together to avoid looking "FROGGY"!

    *Push through your toes when doing a backhandspring.

    *Keep your head neutral and always lead with your toes.

    *Perfect basic skills before attempting more difficult ones. Progression is key to perfection!

    *Condition several times a week to improve power in tumbling.

    STUNTING TIPS

    *Only try skills that have been properly taught to you to avoid injury!

    *Flyers, hold your weight in your arms when loading into a basket toss or sponge/ squish.

    *Make sure to keep the flyers heel up when performing single-leg stunts.

    *Keep your knee locked to maintain balance.

    *Bases condition your abdominals to avoid hurting your back.

    CLEANING YOUR ROUTINE

    *Always transition with arms and hands tight by your side with fingers tightly together!

    *Alway stand with shoulders back and chin slightly up.

    *Tight motions= cleaner routine!
