PLAYING EXPERIENCE:
Coach Garner began playing volleyball as a Junior at Jefferson High School, in Tampa. While in high school, Coach Garner also played basketball, and was a high jumper on the track team. Coach Garner earned a scholarship to the University of Memphis where she participated on both the volleyball and track teams. On the track team she competed in the high jump, pole vault and javelin. Other volleyball playing experience includes:

1978 Olympic Festival, Gold Medalist on the South team
Tried out for the 1980 Olympic Volleyball Team
Competed in three USVBA National Championship Tournaments.
VOLLEYBALL HONORS:
Coach Garner was inducted into the University of Memphis, Athletic Hall of Fame, and her volleyball jersey was retired.
As a member of the 1980 University of Memphis Volleyball team, compiled the most wins in the school history. The record still stands today at 41 match wins.

Coach Garner was named to Tampa Tribune's Tampa Bay's All-Century Team.
FAMILY
Coach Garner is married to Don Garner, who is the Head Boys Golf Coach, and Teacher at Mainland High School. The Garners have two children: Jonathan (24yrs). Jonathan was a QB for Georgia Tech & Marshall University, and was 4 year starter as QB on the Mainland HS Varsity Football team. He works in Atlanta for CBeyond.
Sarah Garner (20), played 3 years on the Mainland Varsity Volleyball team. She played volleyball at Florida Institute of Technology.
The Garners are members of Providence Church in Daytona Beach.


COACH KEN ARCHIBALD, JUNIOR VARSITY HEAD COACH, 2004-Present
After serving as Mainland's volunteer assistant volleyball coach, Ken Archibald has accepted the position of Head Junior Varsity Coach.
He was the Varsity Girls Head Coach from 1982- 1999 at Hazelwood West High School (N. St. Louis County, Mo.)
2001 was awarded the USA Volleyball Gateway Region Meritorious Service Varsity Boys Head Coach from 1985-2001 at Hazelwood West H.S.
Coached St. Charles Volleyball Club 16-1 (girls) 1983 - 1998. Biggest thrill watching former club players Marnie Triefenbach and Kristin Folkl become All-Americans and leading Stanford to 4 national titles.
