CONGRATS TO JERSEY DEVIL RAYS FOR WINNING "ETCB" South Jersey Baseball League
Yes, our 1st Place team trophy and medals for each player came in yesterday. Despite the distorted views of one of our opponents, "WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS". Thank you for all of your hard efforts and sportsmanship throughout the season. Parents and players showed alot of class and respect towards not only our players but towards other teams. Not every coach can boast that they have a family environment with great attitudes. Let there be a lesson in all of this. "You can win and still have good sportsmanship."

We are all proud of our players! and again Congrats for being "CHAMPIONS"

    Coach Mario

    Cooperstown Info
Looking forward to having a good time with everyone and visiting Cooperstown next weekend. Mike Revinis the coach of Arsenal called and everything is a go. They are staying at Lake N Pines Hotel. Game is 5:00 pm on Sunday. They are planning on trading pins on Saturday with other teams that are up there at the fields, FYI for all those players with left over pins.

Let's plan on meeting at 3:45 by the field. Uniforms will be Blue Socks, Gray pants, Red Jersey and Blue/Red Hats. Bring your Blue Jersey and Gray/Blue hat just in case it is extremely hot or whatever as a back up.

Please check the web site and go to D Ray Links. I posted a web site that has accomadations in Cooperstown. I know Beth Mog has called a few places and found limited rooms available in any 1 hotel. So stay wherever you would like just email me back where you made arrangements with a number just in case I need to get in touch and also let me know what nights you are staying over.

    Thanks,
    Mario

JERSEY DEVIL RAYS RECEIVE AN INVITATION TO PLAY INTERNATIONALLY
Today, October 4, 2004 I received a phone call from Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Amaury Telemaco's agent extending an invitation to play in the Dominican Republic in 2005. After I showed an interest, he had Amaury call me to discuss some options and he was really interested in our team playing in the DR. His home town is very close to the youth baseball programs near a 5 star resort. He would be able to schedule whatever games we would be interested.

It ended by Amaury giving us his direct cell number and home phone in the Dominican. We are to advise him on our intensions asap so he can start to make arrangements.

I understand this is a big undertaking for us. I have not committed us to anything. I would like everyone's feedback. Obviously there are many positives and negatives to this type of trip. If we decided to take on this project we could fundraise throughout the winter, etc. Let me know your thoughts and if you were interested would March 24-28 approximatley be good or after school is out.

    Coach Mario

National Championship Prep Camp by The Hit Dr.
Our camp to prep for Nationals will only be 3 days. July 14 to July 16. Hours are 2:00 to 5:00. Arrive at 1:45 to run and stretch. It is $60 per player. All players are expected to attend unless you have told me otherwise.

The little bit of difference makes all the difference! Stack it up and let's bring home a National Championship. It is all about peaking and being mentally prepared. We can do it!! Coach Mario

    4/25...GAME 2 RECAP....RAYS12 vs HORNETS 2
March 25, 2004  --   With the D Rays determined to increase their pitching staff and wanting to give Popeye his second chance on the mound after having one real nice showing last week. Popeye got his first start and rose up to the challenge. Throwing 67 pitches with a ball/strike ratio of 33/34 in 4 innings of play. Popeye got 4 k's, 3 BB's and gave up 3 hits to grab the win in a strong performance. Sunny came in to throw 1 inning and got 1 k with 0 BB and giving up 0 hits. Sunny is always dependable and we are proud of the season he has been having on the mound.

Extra base hitters were Popeye 1-3, Rambo2-3 and J Money 3-3 all banging stong 2 B's to the 310 fence. M&M 2-3 and Moose 2-3 also picked the team by getting 2 hits apiece. Contributing with a hit each were Rip 1-3, Ridley 1-1, and Johnny 1-1.

RBI leader was J Money with 3. Followed by Popeye, Rip, Johnny and Moose with one each.

Scoring leaders in this game were Moose 3 and Rambo 3. Other RBI's came from M&M 2, Popeye 2, Rip 1, and Ridley 1.

If you heard sirens at the game that was because Millville Police put out an APB annoucement for grand theft for M&M, Rambo and Moose all stealing 4 bases each. This was supported by other robbers stealing Rip 2, Popeye 1, Beef 1, Sunny 1 and Johnny 1.

Great day at work guys! Keep it up and let's stay at the top of both leagues by taking on the A's and the Cobra's this weekend.

    Good Luck, Coach Mario

    4/25 ...GAME 1 RECAP...RAYS 18 vs HORNETS 2
April 25, 2004  --   As the humble and focused D Rays entered the stadium in Millville we didn't know what to expect from our competition. We were tired from the double header the day before going extra innings and pulling it out 13-10 vs Cardinals in a see-saw battle completing the sweep. As I began talking to their manager and he proceeded to tell me how they have a few kids who can hit it out of their stadium, my concerns increased.

However, once up to bat and having our focused team with our good hitters display their courage by hitting, stealing and scoring, I knew we were going to be a force to be dealt with this day. Our players attacked the game as they should every game, with total energy and attention to their postions and their team.

Rambo took the hill and got the win throwing 2 innings of the four played. Hurling 42 pitches with a ball/strike ratio of 18/24. Rambo picked up 3 k's, 2 BB's and gave up 2 hits. Beef followed Rambo pitching 2 innings throwing 36 times with a ball/strike ratio of 17/19 giving up 1 hit and 3 BB's for his first appearance.

Our lone ranger for extra base hits was Popeye(3-4) banging a 2B in the third inning.

Supporting the cause with two hits were Nick 2-2, Will 2-3 Johnny 2-3, Rip 2-4 and M&M 2-3. Other D Rays getiing a hit were Sunny 1-1, Rambo 1-3 and Chipper 1-3.

RBI leaders were Popeye and Rip with 3 each followed by Rambo, Will, Nick and Ridley all with 2. Sunny and Johnny each knocked in a run apiece.

Scoring was lead by Rambo and Will crossing over the plate 3 times each. Also crossing twice were Chipper, M&M, Popeye, and Rip. Ridley, Johnny, J Money and Nick all contributed 1 time each.

Rambo was the most wanted stealing 3 bases followed up by Chipper, Will and J Money with 2 steals each. Also stealing were M&M, Rip and Johnny with 1 each.

This game helped all the players who played improve their stats, great job! Again we are proud to be your coaches.

Nice performance by all players on Offense and Defense.

April 18, 2004  --   D Rays didn't let up and got some good base running and batting practice after a nice healthy half-time meal cattered by Mrs Sheets. Thank you from the whole team!

Popeye regains the hill and fights his way on the mound to have a couple of real nice innings. Popeye pitched 3 innings throwing 35 pitches ending up with a tremendous ball to strike ratio of 9/26. Nice concentration and improved form taught by Crazy Horse himself.

    Coach Mario

    4/10 D Rays 5 vs SJ Hawks 0
April 10, 2004  --   Alec Mog "Sunny" brought another bright spot to our team again vs the Hawks. Sunny hurled 5 strong and controlled innings leading us to victory. He pitched 52 pitches of which only 14 were balls. The Hawks only got 3 hits from Sunny. Sunny had 4 strike outs and 0 walks. Great, great performance!

J Money came in for the 6th and 7th and grabbed his 2nd save. His pitch count was 30 with only 14 balls. J Money only gave up 2 hits, 1 BB and 1 strike out.

Brandon Sheets "Popeye" ate his spinach this morning as he was prepared to take on the Hawks. This was a special performance for the whole Sheets family because many of their old neighbors and friends played for the Hawks from Winslow, inluding one of Brandon's best friends pitcher Brett Danifo.

Popeye lead the hitting with going 4-4 with an RBI and 2 stolen bases. Great job!! Chipper and Ridley supportrd Popeye with 2 hits each. Rip, Will Rambo and Sunny also aded hits to the win.

    4/10 D Rays 8 vs SJ Hawks 3
April 10, 2004  --   Barry Morgan "Ridley" helps capture D Rays second win of the day. Ridley pitched 5 strong innings throwing 86 pitches of which only 38 were balls. Ridley had a real nice performance and we were happy for him. Ridley only allowed the Hawks to 4 hits with 3 k's, 3 BB's, and 1 HP.

John Garozzo "Johnny" came into to secure the win. Johnny pitched 2 innings throwing 23 times of which 11 were balls. It was 3 up 3 down for the 6th and 7th as the D ray's defense made the outs when the ball was hit to them. Johnny also had 1 k with no BB's.

Andrew Mucerino "Moose", Popeye, Rambo all lead the way hitting contributing 2 hits each. M&M and Ridley also helped out with a hit each.

    3/28 D Rays 3 vs Columbia Cougars 3
March 28, 2004  --   Between Hooter's the day before, his birthday, a warm-up inning the day before and 2 outstanding performances by teammates Sunny and Johnny, J Money was primed to go. J Money pitched 7 great innings with a total pitch count of 65 and only 23 balls out of the bunch. The Cougars got 7 hits, 1 k and only 1 BB from J Money. Again, J Money and all the pitchers are feeding off of one another and following there coaches instructions to the T.. Great job J Money!

Leading the way hitting this game was M&M. What a game for M&M going 4-4. He was supported by another great effort at the plate by Ridley going 2-3. Other D Rays contributing were Rip, Rambo, Will and Johnny with 1 hit apiece.

This is one were I'll take the blame for the tie. We were too aggressive in a situation that our players weren't prepared to execute and it cost us a run. All in all the tie didn't hurt us for the semi-final seedings. At this point we need to win one more game and we were going to the ship!!!!!

    3/28 D Rays 9 vs Central Jersey Patriots 14
March 28, 2004  --   Recap coming soon. Typed it in once and was too long. Lost it all and don't have time now to finish, check back later.

    What a game it was!!

    3/27 D Rays 6 vs Delaware Dragons 3
March 27, 2004  --   I think after watching his teammate Sunny pitch fabulous, Johnny Garozzo was inspired. What a game he had, both on the mound and at the plate. Johnny's hard work in the off-season sure looks like it is helping him get off to a great start. Johnny pitched 7 great innings. Johnny had 65 total pitches and only 26 balls out of that bunch. Giving up 7 hits, no BB and 1 HP not until the 3rd to the last batter of the game.

Leading the way hitting was Johnny going a strong 3-3. Also contributing with 1 hit each were M&M, Popeye and Rambo.

Great job guys! We were in a fight and you guys stayed in there to see it through right to the end. The coaches really enjoyed that win! Thanks from all the coaches.

    3/27 D Rays 7 vs Central PA Capitals 4
March 27, 2004  --   What a performance by "Sunny" Alec Mog, winning pitcher. Sunny went 5 strong innings throwing 73 pitches and only 23 balls out of the bunch. Capitals got 6 hits, 1 BB and 3 k's against Sunny. To start the season Sunny picked off his first base runner with a great move. J Money came in to pitch the 6th inning. 15 pitches only 6 balls, 1 k, 1 BB and no hits. Graet save!

Chipper, Popeye, Rip, Rambo, Ridley and Sunny all contributed with 1 hit each. Great Defense by all!!

This was a win where everyone contributed in some way!! I'll take it, great start guys. Coach Mario
