Cheer is an athletic performance sport. Practices are intense, but structured so
each cheerleader can succeed with effort and self-discipline. Practice begins the
first week of August during which we will maintain a mandatory conditioning
period of 20 hours. For the first two weeks of practices cheerleaders will
practice Monday through Friday for two hours each day. During the
conditioning period, cheerleaders will learn muscle building skills, cheer
positions, proper stunting techniques as well as their choreography for
competition routines. This provides every cheerleader with the basics and
foundation to compete safely.
Competitive squads have the opportunity to compete and advance to the Pop
Warner National Cheer Competition that is held in Walt Disney World Florida
in December and nationally televised on ESPN.
Additional local competitions are available in preparation for MFCA’s
competition, and to showcase the talent and hard work of recreation squads.
All competition entries will be discussed with parents but is the decision of the
head coach and the Cheer Director based on team readiness.
