OUR GOAL
Frederick Steelers Cheer (FSC) strives for excellence and encourages youth
development by providing opportunities for personal and athletic growth. FSC
promotes sportsmanship, self-esteem, and the development of life skills
through engaging youth in sports while providing a safe, healthy, positive
environment where the youth of our community can learn the fundamentals of
cheer and dance.
We require a huge commitment from everyone involved and the season
includes practices, games, fundraisers, and competitions from August through
December.
We groom Lady Steelers, to show respect, and good sportsmanship to
themselves, coaches, teammates, opposing teams, parents, and all members of
the community both on and off the field!
REGISTRATION
Registration for the 2013 cheer season is open and will continue thru June 30th
2013. You may also register online now or PRE-Register and select any of our
payment options
a.) mail payments or b.) bring to walk-in registrations (TBD).
The cost of registration is $160.00, + an annual $25.00 membership fee

Spirit Pack (crop top, cheer bow, and shoes)

*Please note that there is a 5% online payment processing fee when paying by
credit card online.
Competitive cheerleaders will require:
Maryland State Identification Card.
Report Card -the last term of the prior school year.
Sports physical - forms t0 be provided in registration packet.
Completed Registration Packet – to be provided.
UNIFORMS
Steelers Cheer will issue each participant a cheer shell and skirt.
A deposit check will be collected upon issue and upon the return of all issued
items in satisfactory condition.
Additional items that are to be purchased by parents/guardian.
Warm Ups (fittings to be scheduled).
No-show white socks.
PRACTICE
Cheer is an athletic performance sport. Practices are intense, but structured so
each cheerleader can succeed with effort and self-discipline. Practice begins the
first week of August during which we will maintain a mandatory conditioning
period of 20 hours. For the first two weeks of practices cheerleaders will
practice Monday through Friday for two hours each day. During the
conditioning period, cheerleaders will learn muscle building skills, cheer
positions, proper stunting techniques as well as their choreography for
competition routines. This provides every cheerleader with the basics and
foundation to compete safely.
COMPETITIONS
Competitive squads have the opportunity to compete and advance to the Pop
Warner National Cheer Competition that is held in Walt Disney World Florida
in December and nationally televised on ESPN.
Additional local competitions are available in preparation for MFCA’s
competition, and to showcase the talent and hard work of recreation squads.
All competition entries will be discussed with parents but is the decision of the
head coach and the Cheer Director based on team readiness.
