9:00 a.m. Game Day Evaluation
Participants should come prepared in full hair and makeup. Hair should be half up with a bow (curls or straight). Makeup should be applied heavily, but natural colors. Participants are expected to come dressed in clothes conducive to cheerleading in some combination of maroon, black, white, or leopard. During the evaluations all participants will be required to show the material learned from the night before. We look for clean sharp motions with proper arm placements. We will also be looking at the cheerleader’s spirit and enthusiasm, ability to lead the crowd, and confidence.
10:00 a.m. Jumps/Tumbling
Participants will be required to demonstrate a toe touch, pike, front hurdler, and side hurdler. Each participant will also be required to demonstrate a combination jump of any two jumps. Jumps are evaluated from the approach to the landing. We expect to see good height, flexibility, pointed toes, and solid execution from start to finish. For tumbling, all participants are expected to perform a minimum of a standing backhandspring. If the cheerleader is unable to tumble, but can demonstrate superior stunting ability, consideration will be given. It is recommended that each applicant show all tumbling skills. We advise that you show all skills you can perform safely, even if they are not perfected. All tumbling will take place on a cheerleading mat.
10:30 a.m. Stunting
During this segment cheerleaders will be divided into stunt groups. All stunt groups will progress from elevators to more elite stunts. Flyers will be judged on their flexibility and twisting ability. All flyers should have a minimum of a heel stretch. Flexibility can also be demonstrated on the ground if necessary. Bases will be evaluated by their ability to execute proper technique, lifting through their legs and catching high to absorb the cradle. If a participant can perform multiple positions, she will also have the opportunity to demonstrate that.
LUNCH BREAK
1:00 a.m. Fitness Evaluation
During the fitness evaluation participants will be required to undergo a series of fitness tests. While we do not require a minimum weight, we do require our athletes to have enough strength and stamina to keep up with a fast paced cheerleading routine. During the fitness evaluation there will be a mile run, pushups, and sit-ups.
