PROCEDURES FOR RESCHEDULING GAMES

  • All postponed games will be rescheduled by Kids First Director of Personnel.  Coaches will not be involved or have any say as to when a game is rescheduled.  Due to large demand of diamond use and limited amount of diamonds, many rescheduled games will need to be played during a team’s weekend practice time. We will do our best to try to reschedule games during the week prior to rescheduling games on the weekend.  However, please make plans to include weekend games into your schedule.  These are the only days where we will know our playing fields are available. Using our weekend practice times as much as possible will avoid having to contact the park district to find an available field to play on during the week, as well as having to wait for park district approval.
  • Postponed games will be rescheduled in a timely manner (not to exceed 72 hours).  We will need to inform the park district so they can ensure our diamonds are ready to be played on.
  • Postponed date will remain on the team schedule as well as the rescheduled date.  Rescheduled date will be identified with an exclamation point (!);which when selected will reveal the original game date.
  • Kids First will reassign umpires once a rescheduled date has been established.  We will attempt to reassign the same umpires that was assigned to the original game
  • Both coaches will be sent an email advising them of the rescheduled date and time.  COACHES WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR INFORMING ALL PARENTS.  PARENTS SHOULD CHECK THE TEAM SCHEDULE DAILY FOR UPDATES ONCE A GAME HAS BEEN CANCELLED
  • To simplify the procedure, if a team cannot make the rescheduled date assigned, the game will not be rescheduled a second time (no exceptions).  The game will simply be cancelled and will not be replayed.  This will avoid having to post the game several times, which often causes confusion with parents.  We do not have time to work around the already busy and packed schedule.  We will assign several games with anticipation that a few games may unfortunately have to be cancelled.  We still anticipate each team having enough games played to have a successful and fun season.  Assigning make up games on practice days will avoid having to work around any coaches scheduled requested off dates they reported as part of their initial paper work at the coaches meeting and avoid any possibilities that parents will not be able to make it to the games.  Parents are aware of weekend practice days and times and should already have made plans for their player to attend the practice, thereby all teams should have a full roster on any given weekend practice day where a game needs to be rescheduled on their practice day and time.  We will always use the home team practice day and time when scheduling make up game on weekends.
  • Kids First is under the assumption that coaches selected weekend practice dates that fit into their schedule.  If coaches did not request a new practice date, it is believed that the date selected by the coach worked out well for everyone and that the majority of the team showed up for practice and that practice was conducted with a complete team without any problems.  Therefore rescheduling games during the weekend practice should not be a problem.  We will do our best to try to reschedule games during the week using the coaches availability dates prior to rescheduling games on the weekend.
