LUKE MAILE
Congratulations to Luke Maile on accepting an offer to continue his baseball career at the University of Kentucky next year. The following appears on Kentucky’s website regarding Luke:

“First-team All-State as a junior, Maile is considered the top prospect in the state of Kentucky … Maile, the two-time Northern Kentucky Player of the Year was named a first-team All-American by MaxPreps.com as a junior, after hitting .554 with 62 hits, 62 runs scored, six homers and 40 RBI, while hitting leadoff for Covington Catholic … Played for the Chicago White Sox team at the Area Code Games in Long Beach, Calif., and for the Kentucky Colonels during the 2008 summer … As Covington Catholic’s cleanup hitter in 2007, hit .486 with eight homers and 66 RBI … Owns school records for season batting average (.554), RBI (66), runs scored (62), totaling the second-most walks (37) and hits (62) in program history … The career record holder for batting average, triples and RBI, ranking third in hits, second in doubles, fourth in homers, second in runs scored, third in walks and seventh in at bats … Named the team MVP in 2007-08 … Named all-state in 2007 and 2008, earning Cincinnati Enquirer All-Star honors in 2008 … Helped lead Covington Catholic to a region runner up finish in 2007 and 2008 … Has played four years of basketball and two seasons of golf … Coached in baseball by Bill Krumpelbeck … Has earned the Mt. St. Joseph College writing award and the Northern Kentucky University writing award while maintaining a 3.2 GPA”.

Gary Henderson, head coach at Kentucky had the following to say about Luke, “Luke is the top prospect in Kentucky. He is a strong, smart leader who plays with a tremendous amount of poise and confidence. Luke is an outstanding student who will be a very good player for us.”

Luke is the son of Rich and Lauri Maile.


WILL SHUTTLEWORTH
Congratulations to Kentucky Colonel Will Shuttleworth. Will has accepted an appointment to the United States Naval Academy where he will continue his baseball career.

Will is a senior at Conner High School where he concentrates on college prep courses, carries a 3.94 GPA (4.0 scale), ranks 8 out of 311 seniors and scored a 29 on the ACT. He is President of National Honor Society and is a Louisville Yarmuth Book Award Winner. Will participates in Baseball, Cross Country and Track. His accomplishments include District All-Tournament Team 08 (Junior Year/ baseball), 3 time Regional Champion 05, 07, 08 (Freshman, Junior, Senior Year/ Cross Country), 3 time Conference Champion 05, 06, 08 (Freshman, Junior, Senior Year/ Cross Country).

Will is the son of Larry and Robin Shuttleworth.


ZACH ISLER
Congratulations to Kentucky Colonel Zach Isler for accepting a scholarship offer to continue his baseball career at the University of Cincinnati. Zach will be joining the Bearcats pitching staff guided by head coach Brian Cleary and will be competing in the Big East Conference. Zach currently leads Northern Kentucky in wins with a 7-0 record. He also has a 1.70 ERA and has struck out 39 hitters in 37 innings.

Zach is son of Bill and Amy Isler.


A. J. SMITH
Congratulations to Kentucky Colonel A.J. Smith for accepting a scholarship offer to continue his baseball career at Murray State University. A.J. is currently a senior at Beechwood High School. He plays varsity basketball and baseball. He was selected for the All “A” Baseball Tournament in 2007. He was also selected for the All “A” basketball tournament in 2009.

The following appeared on Murray State's website regarding the signing of A.J. “Murray State head baseball coach Rob McDonald announced the signing of A.J. Smith to a National Letter of Intent to attend the University and begin playing baseball for the ‘Breds in the Fall of 2009.
"I am very happy with our early signee. A.J. is the ideal type of guy we target to play at MSU," said coach McDonald. "He is a super young man from a great family. He will be a great addition not only to our program, but to the MSU community."

"The sky is the limit for A.J," said coach McDonald. "He is a quality young man with great potential on the mound. I can definitely visualize him in a ‘Breds uniform."


A.J. is the son of Alan and Kim Smith.


DAVID ETSCHEID
Congratulations to Kentucky Colonel, David Etscheid who has committed to continue his baseball career at Thomas More College in Crescent Springs, Kentucky. David will be joining head coach Jeff Hetzer and his TMC Saints who compete in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (“PAC”). Coach Hetzer had the following to say about David, "David is a top notch student-athlete. He is exactly the kind of student-athlete that we look for at Thomas More. We look for great things from him both in and out of the classroom over the next four years".

David is currently a senior at Ryle High School in Union, Kentucky where he is carrying a 3.3 GPA and his academic achievements include memberships in the Math Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. David is a multi-sport athlete playing for Ryle’s football and baseball teams.

David is the son of Dale and Becky Etscheid.


MIKE SULLIVAN
Congratulations to Kentucky Colonel, Mike Sullivan, who has committed to play football for Division 1-AA Murray State. Mike will be playing for “Racers” head coach, Matt Griffin in the Ohio Valley Conference. Mike, who is senior at Holy Cross High School in Latonia, Kentucky, carries a 3.4 GPA and scored a 23 on the ACT. He is a member of the Student Council and Pep Club. Mike is also the recipient of the John Wysong Memorial Scholarship, Christian Leadership Award.

Mike is a multi-sport athlete playing on the football, basketball and baseball teams. Mike’s football awards include represented Kentucky in the KY vs. TN Boarder Bowl All Star game, NKY Top 26 player of the year, All NKY offense and defense, Anthony Munoz offensive/ defensive lineman of the year award (division winner), NKFCA All Star (Jr. & Sr. year), Northern Kentucky Athletic Conference All Star (Jr. & Sr. year), Team MVP.

Mike is the son of Brian and Michelle Sullivan.


BRANDON NUTINI
Congratulations to Brandon Nutini who has committed to Thomas More College to contiunue his education and baseball career. Brandon will be joining the Saints baseball program coached by head coach, Jeff Hetzer. Coach Hetzer had the following to say about Brandon, "In Brandon we feel like he epitomizes what a Thomas More Baseball player is. He is a good student in the classroom and puts forth maximum effort in everything he does. We feel like he was one of the top outfielders in the ninth region and we look forward to watching him develop even more over the next four years".

ANDREW HITCHCOCK
Contratulations to Andrew Hitchcock who accepted an offer to continue his education and baseball career at Pikeville College. Rob Taylor, head coach at Pikeville College had the following to say about Andrew joining his program, "As we begin to build a baseball tradition at Pikeville College our focus is being strong defensively. Andrew provides us with a player who will be a key anchor to building this tradition. He is a solid player who demonstrates a good glove and arm. He comes from a solid baseball program at St. Henry and Kentucky Colonels. I am very pleased to have him a part of the program and look forward to watching him develop as a player for the next four years."
