    Lyndhurst SC 5 - Wayne SC 2
    April 6, 2008  --

    Lyndhurst SC 2 - Vikings 1
March 30, 2008  --   The Lyndhurst U-10 girls' highly anticipated first game of the Spring season was finally upon us. After an undefeated Fall season in "C" flight the girls were rewarded with a move up to a more competitive "B" flight for the Spring. The game against the Vikings started quickly with Lyndhurst implementing a strong defense against the Viking's push toward our goal. After the first few minutes, our girls caught their rhythm and looked strong. The Jr. Bears scored in the 9th minute of the game to take the early lead. Five minutes later, the Vikings tied up the score with a goal resulting from a direct free kick. The Lyndhurst keeper did a fantastic job denying any other scores during the first half. The teams came back from half time ready to break the tie. The play continued and Lyndhurst showed some excellent passing skills and put a lot of pressure on the Vikings defense. The Jr. Bears' forwards created many opportunities for goals but each try missed the mark. Finally, in the 40th minute, a perfectly placed shot by our forward gave Lyndhurst the winning goal. The girls won their first game of the season 2-1.

    Lyndhurst SC 3 - Warriors 2
    November 18, 2007  --

    Lyndhurst SC 6 - North Rockland 1
November 11, 2007  --   The visit to the North Rockland Magic's field was very rewarding. It was a beautiful scenic drive and we added another win to our stats. The Jr. Bears learned last week that they can never underestimate an opponent. The Lyndhurst girls came on strong from the start and dominated the game. The ball was a fixture on North Rockland's side of the field for most of the first half. Our Jr. Bears immediately began shooting on the Magic's goal and were finally rewarded with a score in the 7th minute. The Lyndhurst team did not rest and continued their attack with goals in 10th, 28th and 29th minute. North Rockland got lucky with one goal in the 22nd minute. Lyndhurst went into half time with a 4-1 lead. In the second half, Lyndhurst took full advantage of the opportunities presented and scored in the 39th and 47th minute. North Rockland had some strong shots against our keeper, but she had a great performance and kept them shut out the second half. Lyndhurst chalks up another win with 6-1 over North Rockland.

    Lyndhurst SC 3 - Clarkstown 2
October 4, 2007  --   The Lyndhurst team was coming off a very demanding weekend of soccer competition. Rec playoff games and a Saturday tournament kept the girls busy prior to this match-up. The game started quickly with Clarkstown catching our defenders off guard and scoring in the first 18 seconds of the game. The Jr. Bears were stunned when in third minute Clarkstown once again brought the ball down and scored, taking the lead 2-0. After these first two goals, the Jr. Bears finally woke up and began to control the ball. The girls faced a very solemn coaching staff when they went to the sidelines at half time. Coming back to the game, the girls were slow to get the momentum going. Lyndhurst finally succeeded in scoring their first goal in the 45th minute. That goal started an amazing comeback. With the fans loudly cheering them on, our girls managed to score two more goals in the 50th and 52nd minute. The Jr. Bears, scoring 3 goals in less than 7 minutes, clinched the game with a win of 3-2 over Clarkstown. The girls also clinched 1st place in their flight with the victory.

    Game 1
Lyndhurst SC 3 - Wayne Boys & Girls Club 1

    Game 2
Lyndhurst SC 3 - Wayne SC Wildcats 2

    Lyndhurst SC 2 - Nutley 1
October 28, 2007  --   Coming off last week's game, Coach Rick wanted the girls to step up and play to the best of their abilities. Through some different plays and positioning, the plan was to mix things up. After the first ten minutes of the game, Lyndhurst found itself behind in the score against Nutley. Nutley kept the pressure on throughout the first half and put our defense through its paces. The Jr. Bears' struggled to make plays against the Nutley defense, but our passing skills were not up to par. Our girls went into half time down one goal, something that has not happened all season. Lyndhurst regrouped and after a motivating speech, the girls came out to do battle. The Jr. Bears began passing and executing their plays which resulted in many opportunities in front of the Nutley net. The first Lyndhurst goal was scored in the 37th minute, tying up the game. The Lyndhurst defense stepped up and held Nutley scoreless in the second half. A beautiful shot, in the 54th minute, by our forward secured the game with Lyndhurst winning once again, 2-1.

    Lyndhurst SC 2 - Mahwah 1
October 21, 2007  --   The Lyndhurst Jr. Bears maintained their winning streak by squeaking by Mahwah with a 2-1 victory. There was a fast start of the game with Mahwah scoring in the 8th minute. It would be the first time this season that Lyndhurst was behind in the score. Instead of getting down on themselves, Lyndhurst played on and scored in the 11th minute tying up the score board. Although the girls were not at their best, they managed a second goal in the 29th minute to take the lead. Lyndhurst's goalkeeper kept Mahwah off the board the entire second half. Lyndhurst had some good passing in front of the net during the last minutes of the game, but several shots missed their mark. With this win, the girls maintained their first place position in their flight for another week.

    Lyndhurst SC 3 - Arsenal 1
October 14, 2007  --   Our Jr. Bears came off their bye week a little rusty. Our defense did an outstanding job not allowing the Arsenal squad any quality scoring opportunities throughout the game. The Jr. Bears unfamiliarity of a fast turf field hampered their ball control and passing for most of the game. The girls were finally able to break through Arsenals back line in the 28th minute for the first score of the game. Our lead was short lived when the girls were caught guard on a free kick just outside the Lyndhurst penalty area and Arsenal was able to net the rebound to knot the score in the 30th minute. The girls finally found some success in the second half, scoring goals in the 37th and 39th minutes to secure the 3-1 victory, their 5th consecutive win of the season. The win keeps the team in first place at the halfway point of the season with a 4-point lead over the Emerson Eagles.

    Lyndhurst SC 3 - Arsenal 2
September 30, 2007  --   It was a fast start to our game against Arsenal. The Lyndhurst offense came out strong and scored in the 1st minute of the game. The girls were doing extremely well at passing the ball to each other and the Jr. Bears looked great. Arsenal drew a penalty off our defense and took a shot which resulted in a goal in the 6th minute of the game. Our Jr. Bears were not deterred and with great teamwork took the ball to the net for another goal in the 13th minute of the game. During an exciting breakaway, our forward surprised the Arsenal goalie with a beautiful shot, giving Lyndhurst a 3-1 lead by the 14th minute of the game. Arsenal did not let up and put some pressure on our defense. There were some tense minutes in front of the Lyndhurst goal. Another penalty kick was awarded and Arsenal scored their second goal in the 25th minute of the game. The second half brought more pressure by Arsenal's offense but the Lyndhurst keeper held strong. Arsenal controlled the ball much of the second half, but the Jr. Bears held off the attack. Lyndhurst went home with another win with the score 3-2.

    LyndhurstSC 3 - Glen Rock 1
September 23, 2007  --   Coming off a great win last week, the Jr. Bears faced another obstacle. The team was coming into this week's game missing some key players. The first few minutes of the game saw the Shooting Stars pushing down field on a mission. They challenged the defense but our girls stepped up. Finally, our midfield broke free and the ball was in front of the Glen Rock goal. Our strikers awed the crowd with some great shots on goal but were not rewarded until the 26th minute. Lyndhurst went into the half with a 1-0 lead. The Shooting Stars came back hard at the start of the second half but our girls did not give in. The defense held and sent it up to Glen Rock's net. The Jr. Bears scored again in the 40th minute. A strong breakaway by our center mid lead to another goal in the 44th minute. The Shooting Stars tried to rally, but were only allowed one goal in the 56th minute. At the whistle, the final score was 3-1 sending the Jr. Bears home with their third win of the season.

    LyndhurstSC 2 - Emerson 0
September 16, 2007  --   The girls prepared themselves for one of the the toughest opponents that they will have to face this season. Lyndhurst would have to be on top of their game to get a win this week. At the start, both teams came out strong. The Jr. Bears' defense held back the Eagles while our midfielders tried to push the ball up toward Emerson's goal. Play went back and forth resulting in only very frustrated strikers. After a scoreless first half, the excitement continued into the second half. The Jr. Bears tried with several shots but the Emerson keeper denied any goals until the 50th minute. The fans went wild but our girls knew a one goal lead was not enough to secure the victory. They continued their strike and beat the Eagles' defense resulting in a second goal in the 55th minute. Lyndhurst clinched their second win of the season.

    Lyndhurst SC 3 - Warriors 2
September 9, 2007  --   The Jr. Bears kicked off the new season with a great game against the Waldwick Warriors. From the blow of the whistle, the girls worked hard with great footwork in front of the Warriors' net. Lyndhurst excited the crowd with two quick shots on goal, but were not rewarded with a score until the 10th minute of the game. The Warriors tried to put together a plan of attack but the Jr. Bear's keeper denied any scoring. Our girls did not give up and worked their magic with a second goal in the 25th minute. The half ended with Lyndhurst leading 2-0. The pep talk that the Waldwick coach gave to his girls certainly impacted their play in the second half. The Warriors came back like a different team. Our keeper was kept busy fending off the attack. The Jr. Bears were caught off guard and drew some penalties from the ref. After composing themselves, the defense managed to get the ball up to the striker and she took it in for a goal, extending our lead to 3. The Warriors never stopped fighting and scored two goals in the 40th and 45th minutes. The girls kept the fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes. Lyndhurst came off victorious with a 3-2 win over Waldwick.

    Torpedos 3 - Lyndhurst 1
    August 10, 2007  --

    Aviators 5 - Lyndhurst 1
May 20, 2007  --   Coming off three loses, the Lyndhurst Jr. Bears prepared to face the Aviators. The struggling Lyndhurst defense worked on new strategies during the week and finally held their opponents from scoring until the 14th minute of the game. The Aviators, however, kept up the pressure during the first half and pulled ahead with 3 more goals. During halftime, our coach switched up the game plan and some girls were placed in fresh positions. The Aviators were caught off guard and Lyndhurst scored their first goal of the game. The Jr. Bears were stronger during the second half, spending more time on the Aviators side of the field. But in the end, the Bears were handed their fourth consecutive loss with the final score of 5-1.

    Allendale 7 - Lyndhurst 1
May 13, 2007  --   The annual Mother's Day game started off rough for the Jr. Bears. Allendale came on strong scoring 4 goals in the first half. The defense had trouble stopping the Allendale strikers which resulted in many shots on goal. The ball remain in Lyndhurst territory for most of the first half. At the start of the second half, the Lyndhurst team tried to step up to the challenging Allendale girls. Two exciting Lyndhurst breakaways were not turned into goals despite the girl's effort. Finally, the Lyndhurst girls were rewarded with a goal, making the score 4-1. Allendale quickly responded with some great passing in front of the Lyndhurst net earning two more goals. Never a team to quit, the Lyndhurst Jr. Bears struggled to make good on some opportunities in front of the Allendale net. At the end of the game, Allendale sealed their win with another goal, making the final score 7-1.

    Vikings 5 - Lyndhurst 1
May 10, 2007  --   The game started with strong play on both sides of the field, but once again our opponent scored in the first few minutes of the game. The first Viking goal came on a direct free kick and was unstoppable by the Lyndhurst keeper. Lyndhurst tried to apply pressure in front of the Demarest net, but their defense held strong. Although the Jr. Bears tried to fight off the Vikings offensive strikes, Demarest prevailed with four more goals during the game. Lyndhurst was given an opportunity to score during a penalty kick and the shot resulted in a goal, making the final score 5-1. The girls have been on a down turn but they never give up and work hard to improve their play each week.

    Wayne SC 6 - Lyndhurst 0
May 6, 2007  --   The Lyndhurst Jr. Bears experienced a 6-0 loss to Wayne Tornados. The Wayne offense dominated the game and Lyndhurst struggled to gain control over the ball. The Tornados succeeded in scoring 4 goals during the first half. Lyndhurst worked hard to position the ball in Tornados territory, but was quickly denied by the Wayne strong defense. After another 2 goals, the Wayne team put the game away. The Jr. Bears will have to regroup and come out strong for their next challenge.

    Lyndhurst 3 - Monroe-Woodbury 2
April 29, 2007  --   Monroe-Woodbury started the game off with a fast paced offensive drive which resulted in a goal in the 3rd minute. Lyndhurst was trying to hold back the M-W strikers, but the Wildcats persisted with at least five more shots on goal in the first 15 minutes. Finally, the Lyndhurst offensive caught their rhythm and struck back with a goal in the 16th minute. After the tying up the score, the play went back and forth making both goalkeepers work to deny any striker’s success. M-W crowded the Lyndhurst net and came away with another goal in the 30th minute of the game to pull ahead before half time. After an inspirational half-time chat from their coach, the Lyndhurst Jr. Bears came onto the field determined. Lyndhurst broke free from the M-W defense and scored in the first minute of the second half. The girls looked strong taking many shots on goal, but were denied by the M-W keeper until the 38th minute. Lyndhurst finally took the lead but the M-W girls were not giving up. Intense pressure in front of the Lyndhurst goal kept the fans on the edge of their seats during the last minutes of the game. Our girls prevailed with the score of 3-2.

    Lyndhurst 3 - Emerson 2
April 26, 2006  --   Lyndhurst dug itself an early hole for the second match in a row. The defense failed to safely clear a ball in it’s penalty area and the loose ball found an open Emerson player in front of the Lyndhurst goal in the game’s 3rd minute. Our girls regrouped and the Lyndhurst striker was able to steal a ball in the Eagle’s end and knot the score in the 18th minute. Lyndhurst struck again in the 25th minute when the striker was able to control the ball in the midfield off a big boot by the Lyndhurst keeper, beat two defenders and score her second goal of the game. Lyndhurst took their 2-1 lead into the intermission. Our striker completed her hat trick in the 38th minute scoring off a nice feed from the right mid. Emerson cut the lead back to one when they converted on a penalty kick following a questionable handball call in the Lyndhurst box. The Eagle’s goal in the 46th minute made for an exciting finish as both teams exchanged scoring chances. Emerson pulled their keeper late in the game in their effort to tie the score but the Lyndhurst keeper came up big with two great saves to secure the 3-2 victory.

    Thisle 5 - Lyndhurst 0
April 22, 2007  --   Playing in their first game in three weeks and with little practice time in between because of the weather, the Lyndhurst girls came out flat against a very good team from Kearny. The slow start coupled with the level of play by the Thisle team made for a long day for the Lyndhurst keepers. Thisle broke through the Lyndhurst defense and scored the game’s first goal in just the 2nd minute on a blast from 12 yards out over the Lyndhurst keeper. The Lyndhurst defense was kept back on it’s heels as Thisle peppered the Lyndhurst goal with 18 shots and numerous shots that missed the mark. Thisle was able to find the back of the net again in the 18th minute for a 2-0 half time lead. The second half played out the same way as the first as Thisle added goals in the 32nd, 42nd and 58th minute for the 5-0 victory. While they didn’t play their best game, our girls never gave up and played hard until the final whistle.

    Lyndhurst 2 - Maroons 2
April 1, 2007  --   The start of the Jr. Bears spring season was finally upon us with a game against the Ridgewood Maroons. Moving up to the B Flight in their division proved challenging for the girls. Our girls were now well matched against their opponents. The Maroons kept the ball on the Lyndhurst goal side for much of the first ten minutes of the game stressing our defense and goalkeeper. Ridgewood was finally awarded with the first goal in the 12th minute. Lyndhurst tried to respond with a great shot on goal, but was denied by the Maroons keeper. Finally the Lyndhurst girls dug hard and scored in the 19th minute, tying the score. A misstep by the defense on a corner kick allowed Ridgewood to take the lead with a second goal in the 27th minute. Going into half time, the girls were not discouraged and regrouped to start the second half. Ridgewood came on strong in the beginning of the half, but the scoring opportunity was taken away by a great effort by the Lyndhurst keeper. The contest went back and forth on the field with shots from both teams not resulting in a goal. Lyndhurst tried several times to tie the game and finally was successful in the 48th minute with a goal. The last ten minutes had both the players and fans on the edge of their seats to see who might take the lead with a final goal. But at the whistle, the teams had to settle for a tie. The Lyndhurst Girls got into the spirit of “April Fools Day” with a well played prank on their team manager, Dawn.

    Lyndhurst 5 - Maroons 1
November 19, 2006  --   The fall season ended just as it started with a win against the Ridgewood Maroons! As a result of our first encounter in September, the Maroons were now prepared for our strong offensive play. Their defense stepped up their game and was ready for the Jr. Bear's attack. Ridgewood held strong and the Lyndhurst girls were not able to score until the 21st minute. The Maroons offense tried their best to push our defense back and attempt a shot, but the Jr. Bears would not back down. A strong Lyndhurst drive resulted in a score in the 34th minute. Ridgewood's offense did not give up and was rewarded with their only goal of the game in the 36th minute. That goal sparked Lyndhurst's girls into action and they responded with a goal in the 38th minute. The rest of the game was all Lyndhurst with two more goals coming in the 41st and 46th minute to clinch the game at 5-1. An excellent final win to top off a great season!

    Lyndhurst 5 - Hotspur 1
November 5, 2006  --   Our Jr. Bears had a early morning game against the Ramsey Hotspurs this week. The play was back and forth with the midfielders sharing possession of the ball. Lyndhurst had many shots on goal, but no success during the first ten minutes of the game. Our girls were caught off guard by a Hotspurs score in the 15th minute. After the Ramsey goal, Lyndhurst woke up and countered with TWO goals in the 23rd minute! Another goal followed in the 25th minute taking them to a 3-1 lead into half time. The second half of the game was all Lyndhurst as the Hotspurs struggled to maintain their defense. Several shots were fired at the Ramsey goalie who tried her best to protect their goal. A goal in the 32nd minute and 41st minute sealed the victory at 5-1. A special thanks to our team manager, Dawn, for her hospitality at the early morning game. The bagels, doughnuts and beverages were enjoyed by all!

    Lyndhurst 6 - Wayne 1
October 29, 2006  --   The Lyndhurst girls were faced again this week with weather challenges, but not even the strong wind gusts could hold them back from another victory. Playing against the Wayne Wildcats, our offense came out strong, scoring the first goal in the second minute of the game. Wayne regrouped and came back with a few shots on goal but the Lyndhurst keeper remained unshakable. Our Jr. Bears scored again in the 8th and 26th minute of the game. The Wildcats started to apply strong pressure to our defense and kept the Lyndhurst keeper busy with several shots on goal. Going into half time, the Jr. Bears lead 3-0. In the second half, Wayne made many attempts to break through the defense and their persistence resulted in a goal in the 33rd minute. Lyndhurst responded with a goal of their own in the 36th minute. Both teams rallied, but the Jr. Bears were rewarded with two more goals in the 40th and 50th minute of the game. The Lyndhurst girls were victorious with a 6-1 win over the Wildcats.

    Lyndhurst 6 - RYSA Wildcats 1
November 22, 2006  --   Shrugging off last week's loss, the Lyndhurst girls were back this week giving 100% against the RYSA Wildcats. The field conditions were less than perfect, with mud hindering the play. From the blow of the whistle, the Jr. Bears burdened the Wildcats defense. Scoring, as a result of a penalty kick in the 7th minute, Lyndhurst was on the board. The Lyndhurst girls continued their attack with many shots on goal, while our defense held strong in the backfield. Two of our shots connected with the net in the 18th and 19th minute of the game, making the Jr. Bears' lead extend to 3 by the end of the half. The girls quickly prevailed in the second half scoring a goal in the 31st minute. The Wildcats challenged our defense and scored their lone goal in the 32nd minute. The Lyndhurst squad went on to land two more goals in the 36th and 56th minute to secure the game. If the 6-1 triumph wasn't enough, Coach Rick sweetened the victory with a full out mud slide at the end of the game!

    Clarkstown 7 - Lyndhurst 2
October 15, 2006  --   The Lyndhurst Jr. Bears knew that the Clarkstown team was going to be their toughest opponent this season. Prior to this game Clarkstown had only given up one goal and they had a high scoring offense. From the blow of the whistle, defense on both sides were put to the test. The first goal for Clarkstown was as a result of a penalty kick. Strong pressure from the Clarkstown offense landed two more goals in the first half. The Lyndhurst offense did not give up and pressured Clarkstown defense throughout the game. Although the score was 3-0 at the half time whistle, Lyndhurst's defense and goalkeeper held strong against many shots on goal during the first half. Clarkstown came on strong in the first minutes of the second half scoring two more goals. The Lyndhurst girls finally answered with two goals of it's own, making Clarkstown's defense struggle to contain our Jr. Bears. After a valiant effort by our girls, Clarkstown dominated with two additional goals, making the final score 7-2.

    Lyndhust 6 - Montclair 1
October 1, 2006  --   The Lyndhurst Girls got off to a fast start again today scoring goals in the 2nd, 3rd and 7th minutes for the early 3-0 lead. Timely passing by the Lyndhurst defenders and midfielders helped to set up the goals. Montclair had the best attack the Girls have faced so far but a few great saves by the Lyndhurst keeper helped the Jr. Bears to maintain their lead until Montclair was finally able to get on the board in the 17th minute. Lyndhurst scored again late in the half for a 4-1 lead at the intermission. The Lyndhurst front line and midfield controlled the play in the second half adding 2 more goals and the Montclair attack was never a factor in the second half. The win, their 4th of the season, matches their total for the spring season and keeps Lyndhurst in first place in their flight setting up a first place showdown with Clarkstown on October 15th.

    Lyndhurst 2 - Glen Ridge 1
September 24, 2006  --   Going up against the toughest opponent they have faced so far this year, the Lyndhurst girls fell behind early when Glen Ridge broke though for a goal in the 9th minute. Trailing in a game for the first time this season, the Lyndhurst defense tighten, allowing only two other shots on goal in the half and only four for the entire game. Lyndhurst failed to score on a penalty kick in the 15th minute but was able to score on a nice give-n-go pass in the 20th minute to tie the score at 1 – 1. The Lyndhurst Midfield controlled the play for most of the 2nd half until they were able to score the winning goal on a breakaway in the 43rd minute. It was an exciting and well-played game by both teams, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all of the proud parents and fans.

    Lyndhurst 6 - Northern Valley 1
September 17, 2006  --   The Lyndhurst Girls continued their good start with their second consecutive win. Lyndhurst scored early and often scoring the first three goals of the game and added two more after Northern Valley tallied their lone goal of the game. Lyndhurst 6 – Riverdell 3
March 26, 2006  --   Standing up to the elements (hail, snow and rain) as well as their opponents, the U-8 girls came away with a victory in their inaugural game. The first half was a tightly contested battle, which ended with Riverdell over coming a 2-goal deficit to knot the game at 2-2. The Lyndhurst girls’ strong defensive play and persistent offensive pressure proved to be too much for the Riverdell team as Lyndhurst pulled away in the second half.
