Modified Rules for U6 games
1. Maximum five players. The NSC Board has determined that the U6 age group will not allow a goalie to be used during the game. Coaches will not instruct or teach a player to position herself/himself to stay stationary in front of the goal.
2. Breaks of one minute shall be given mid-way through the first and second half. The game will restart with a kick-off with the same team who started that half.
3. The referee shall make decisions on points of fact connected with the game and their decision is final. The referee is encouraged to explain the infraction to the offending player.
4. All free kicks will be taken as indirect free kicks. A goal may not be scored until the ball has been played or touched by a second player of either team.
5. No penalty kicks shall be taken.
6. Goal kicks may be taken from any point inside the goal area. All opposing players must be at least six yards away and out of the goal area.
7. A repeat throw-in may be granted by the referee to a player after an explanation.
8. Offside is generally not called unless in the opinion of the referee a player is being coached or is remaining in an offside position to gain an advantage of a scoring opportunity. A restart shall be awarded to the opponent with an indirect free kick.
9. Slide tackling shall not be allowed in any case. The penalty will be an indirect free kick from the point of infraction.

FOULS TO OBSERVE
If these fouls are committed, an indirect free kick is given to the opposing team. There are no penalty kicks.

1. Kicking
2. Tripping
3. Jumping
4. Charging
5. Striking
6. Pushing
7. Kicking opponents leg before touching the ball
8. Holding
9. Spitting
10. Handling ball deliberately

It is my experience that when calling the direction of play to yell out “Purple or White Ball” instead of using your hand movement for direction.

Offsides:
We as Parents, Coaches, Players, Spectators often yell out "Offside" during the course of a game...But do you know there are FOUR determining factors to the offside rule when the ball is kicked by your teammate.
*In the opponent's half of the field, AND
*Nearer the opponent's goal line than the ball, AND
*Nearer the opponent's goal line than the second last opponent, AND
*REFEREE DETERMINES THAT YOU HAVE PARTICIPATED IN THE AREA OF ACTIVE PLAY
Of course there are some exceptions to this rule. You CANNOT be offside if:
*You receive the ball from a throw-in
*You receive the ball directly from a goal kick
*You receive the ball directly from a corner kick
