2009 Putnam Athletic League Competition Information

Putnam Athletic League will host the 2009 Cheerleading Competition at Keystone Heights Jr. Sr. High School's Gym on October 17, 2009. Please make sure you check the calendar for deadlines, and check this space for information related to the competition.

There is a coordinator's meeting scheduled for September 27, 3pm - 4:30 pm at Little Rain Lake Park Admin Building, Keystone Heights. If you are unable to attend you need to send someone in your place you are welcome to have another coach attend with you. Please verify how many people will be in your party.

These questions are based on feedback from the eight Pop Warner regions across the country. They have been added to clarify the new category divisions, Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced, listed in the 2009 Pop Warner Rules Book. They will be added to the next addition of the rules book in 2010 and apply for this upcoming season.

Paper Work

• Please check your sports physicals make sure it was performed in 2009, if it says any date prior to 01/01/2009 then the physical is invalid and your squad will be disqualified from competition.  Also make sure all physicals were performed on the Required Pop Warner Form. Double check the date on the lower left hand corner to verify that the form is the 2009 physical form.
  
  
• Also check birth certificate. Make sure it is legible and that it is the official form from Vital Statiscs office. Also verify that you can read all the information.
  
  
• Cross reference the birth certificate with the signatures on all the forms and make sure that the LEGAL GUARDIAN is the person who signed the paper work.
  
  Any falsified document will result in disqualification for the entire squad.
  
  
• If the child has a Home School Eligibility or has a Scholastics Eligibilty form in lue of a report card, then 2 official progress reports must be completed by the school official between Sept 16 and Oct 16. This progress report must include the school stamp or the Home School Evaluator's Deptartment of Education certification number, and a statement that the child is progressing with a 2.0 or higher GPA. A list of grades would be nice, but not necessary. When in doubt please check with your scholastic coordinator.
  
  
• Verify that the Parent/Player contract is completely filled it.
  
  
• If the participant has missed a game, please make sure an absentee form is completed.
  
  

Putnam Athletic League offers a highly competitive cheerleading and dance program in the Southeast Region and the United States. With 4 national placements and over 8 regional titles in the past 5 years, Putnam Athletic League has become a recognized name in Pop Warner.

Associations within the Putnam Athletic League may provide Cheer and Dance Squads in the divisions outlined in the table. All Pop Warner Rules and regulations must be upheld in each division. Tryouts of any kind within Pop Warner are prohibited. Team availability is based on each Association's ability to fill a team. The Jr. Pee Wee through Midget divisions are categorized as novice, intermediate, or advance depending on their skill level. These skill categories are declared by the Association Cheer Coordinator. The participant’s age on July 31st of the current year shall be the participant’s age for the coming season. All cheerleaders must pass a physical that is dated after January 1 of the year participating.

Tiny Mite and Mitey-Mite squads are considered entry level squads and are not permitted to compete. These age groups are designed for participants to have the opportunity to learn basic skills without the pressure of competition. These squads are permitted to perform an exhibition routine at a local competition for fun and experience only.

The Jr. Pee Wee through Midget divisions will participate in a local competition sometime mid-season. The 1st and 2nd place winners from each division in all three categories will be invited to represent the Putnam Athletic League at the Southeast Region Cheer and Dance Competition Thanksgiving weekend in Orlando, Florida. The Southeast Region consists of teams through out the State of Florida. Teams that place first and second at Regionals will be invited to attend the National Pop Warner Cheer and Dance Competition at Walt Disney World's Wide World of Sports Milk House Arena in early December.
