Al Bevilacqua requests that the Event Name be changed
to honor his long time friend and MHS coach Gary Mims
Gary wrestled for me, was my assistant coach for 9 years and the head coach at Massapequa High School for 29 years. He won 9 Section 8 Championships, 1998 New York State Team Champions, 87 Tournaments, 3 State Champions and has been a loyal friend for over all his years coaching. He was honored by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame for his LIFETIME SERVICE. His record is in the AL BEVILACQUA wrestling room. - Al Bevilacqua

Three-hundred and forty-three Bantam, Intermediate, and Novice wrestlers participated in the 7th Annual Al Bevilacqua Youth Wrestling Tournament.
Razor and Massapequa declared Co-Champions with 44 team points each.
{Six different tie-breaking criteria were unable to determine the team champion so the tournament directors declared the clubs Co-Champions}
The other top eight teams were as follows:
Island Trees (35), Wantagh (33), Rocky Point (24), Port Washington (22),
Oceanside (20), Long Beach (20), Lindenhurst (18) and Garden City/LI3 Style (16).
