Q: Who Manages the League?

A: The Board of Stokes County Youth Basketball League runs the League. SCYBL is a non-profit organization that is ran by volunteers. The Board operates on By-Laws that have been in place for many years.

Q: How Long Does the Season Last?

A: Our seasons usually last 10 weeks. We usually start regular season game play on the second weekend in December and usually runs through the end of February. All games are usually played on Saturday; occasionally we play some games on Sunday afternoon. We also have tournament play at the end of the regular season. There is usually one game a week for each team unless make up games have to take place (This usually happens due to inclement weather).

Q: What time and location will my child practice?

A: Practices are on weeknights at 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 and 9:00PM (typically younger kids practice at earlier times). Each team practices once a week. Practices are held at King Elementary School Gym, Mt. Olive School Gym and Poplar Springs School Gym. (Actual Game play will be held at King Elementary School Gym and Chestnut Grove School Gym)

Q: Who Will Be Coaching?

A: Coaches are selected by The Board. Selections come from parents that sign up to coach and some of our coaches are board members. We try to make coach selections by getting people that are knowledgeable of the game while also factoring in people that we believe will represent our league in a positive manner.

Q: How are teams composed?

A: There is a draft based on player assessments at our Skills Evaluation. The Board tries to spread the talent out as even as possible so teams will not be stacked.

Q: How Is Playing Time Determined?

A: All players are guaranteed to play at least 2 full quarters in one given game.

Q: What if I have questions, complaints or suggestions?

A: Each division has a manager whose name is posted on the website at our contact info link. We also have all board members posted here as well. Feel free to email us at any time.
