COACHES:
COACH BOB YUENGLING
Bob has been coaching hockey for 25 years. He is a Level 4 Ice Hockey Coach. He started Bellmore Merrick "Bulldogs" 1n 1992, and since its inception has been Head Coach and President of organization. Coach Bob has led his teams to two Nassau County Championships 2000-2001, 2002-2003. The 2001 team went undefeated through regular season and Playoffs.
He has coached in 4 NYS High School Tournaments. Bob's two sons played for the BMHSHC. Derek 1992 - 1994 [team Capt]. Jonathan
1996-2000 [team Capt]. Bob is also a member of NCHSHL Disciplinary board(since 2000) and has been a League Statatician since 2003.

COACH COSMO LAURINO Middle School A Coach
Cosmo grew up on Long Island and moved to South Jersey at age 30. There he coached his 2 sons( Cos jr., and Nick)in Middle school & High school levels. Cosmo was a cub scout and boy scout leader for 8 years. Upon moving into the Merrick area in July 2000, he was an assistant coach on the freshman team. He delighted to be asked to join the Varsity team the next year with both sons. Cosmo comsiders that year the highlight of his coaching career. The team won the championship and won a game in the states(with Nick in goal)
MIDDLE SCHOOL JV Coach
Coach Ed Shinnick
Ed has been involved with hockey since he was six years old. Ed grew up in the Bronx and played at Rye Playland, he attended St. Dominic’s High School where he made all county. Ed’s hockey career followed him to the NYPD where he played on the NYPD hockey team which played all over the country as well as Canada.
Ed started coaching 12 years ago. He has coached all levels from Mite to Juniors, from house league to travel and now here at the Bulldogs. Ed is a level 4 coach and will be attending the level 5 course in Rochester this July. Ed joined the Bulldogs organization in 2004 as assistant coach for the Middle School team and was named Head Coach for the 2005/06 season for the Middle School Red team.
Ed is delighted to be part of this great organization and hopes to continue with the Bulldogs for years to come.
PROFILE OF COACH GARY LENZ JV Coach
Coach Gary has obtained a Advance Level 4 and has coached hockey for 14 years (10 years with Massapequa High School and 4 years with Bellmore/Merrick Bulldogs)
Highlights of his coaching career were two Nassau County H/S Hockey Championships 98/99 and 99/00 seasons along with a second place in a Lake Placid Tournament during this time period.
Gary played hockey for the Nassau County Police Department Team with Coach Bob Yuengling for many years.
Coach Gary’s two sons played hockey with St. Anthony’s H/S, Massapequa H/S, Travel and College Hockey.
He considers Bellmore/Merrick a top-notch organization
Joe Degeilh Goalie Coach
I graduated from Suny Cortland in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts/ Major Sociology, I was a member of the 2001 Bulldog team and have been goal for over fifteen years. This is my second season as Goalie coach for the Bulldogs
Coach Patrick Yuengling
Started playing roller hockey at the age of ten years old and joined the Eisenhower park roller hockey league at the age of fourteen where I played for four years.
Started playing ice hockey at the age of 16 and played for the Nassau County and Transit Police Departments from 1980 to 1986.
I have coached and officiated in the Bellmore/Merrick roller hockey league from 1987 to 1989.
My preferred position is right defensemen and I have played that position most of my life. I presently hold a USA hockey coaching level two certification and will be attending level three this fall.
I still playing hockey once a week in various rinks around LI.
My profession is in the Document management / Computer field where I have worked for over 22 years.
Favorite hockey team NY Rangers.
Coach Tom Apa
Tom has been involved with ice hockey since he was eight years old. Tom is a Merrick resident who has coached both of his sons in local house leagues for the past 15 years. Tom joined the Bulldog organization in the Spring of 2008 as an assistant coach for the Middle School team.
Tom looks forward to many rewarding years working with the Bulldogs and coaching his son
Coach Richie Bentze
Richie has been involved with ice hockey since he was six years hold. Even now, he plays on an adult league. He started coaching at age 20 and has coached both school and in-house leagues. Richie has run clinics at Newbridge on Sunday afternoons since 2006. He has been the head coach of his younger son's team for the past 3 years. This is his first year with the Bulldog's organization, and he is thrilled to be a part of it.
