Just and update for everyone regarding the increase in registration fee for ball players for 2013.
Reason for the increase is to help raise money to pay for the new field project that has been underway for the past 2 years and will continue until project is completed.
We have spent $40,000 so far developing 1 new T-ball field, 2 new Midget fields and 2 new fields for Minors-Jr Pony players. Of this $40,000 we have borrowed $15,000 from the city which went for new backstops and side fencing at the new larger fields in the last 2 months. We anticipate needing another $100,000 to complete fencing around the fields, dugouts, storage barn, parking lot, press box, etc. We have had $15,000 in materials, labor, trucking, excavation work donated so far towards the new fields.
The youth sports commission felt a minor increase is needed to be able to get as much accomplished in as short a time period as possible. Also instead of asking each player/parent to sell coupons books, or cookie dough, or pizza kits, we felt it would be better received by parents if we asked for extra $15 instead of the fundraising. To offset this increase we will have the Chevy raffle tickets available for each family. They can get 2 tickets to sell for $5 each for a drawing for a new car from Chevrolet & they are allowed to keep the $10 for selling the 2 tickets to help offset the increase in registration fee.
