League Description
Our local program is divided into 9 divisions, based upon age as of APRIL 30, 2012. Please see the age requirements below. Except for the Rookie League, which plays only on Saturdays, teams normally play twice a week, one weeknight game and once on Saturdays.
Rookie - Introduction to the game for five year olds. Children born between May 1st, 2006 and April 30th, 2007 can participate. One hour sessions are held on Saturdays. Session consists of 1/2 hour of instruction from the coaches and a 1/2 hour mini game. No scores are kept and there are no league standings.
Tee Ball - Continuation of the introduction for six year olds. Coaches begin to pitch to players (tees are still used too), no scores are kept and there are no league standings. Children born between May 1st, 2005 and April 30th, 2006 can participate.
Texas League - Tees are eliminated and coaches pitch to the players. No scores are kept and there are no league standings. Children born between May 1st, 2004 and April 30th, 2005 can participate.
Pacific League - Players begin pitching in games. Game scores are kept, but there are no league standings. Children born between May 1st, 2003 and April 30th, 2004 can participate.
Minor League - Game scores are kept, but there are no regular season standings. At the conclusion of the regular season, playoffs are held. Finalists play on Championship Saturday. Children born between May 1st, 2002 and April 30th, 2003 can participate.
Central League - Regular season standings are kept. At the conclusion of the regular season, playoffs are held. Finalists play on Championship Saturday. A ten year old tournament team is formed which competes in the Williamsport Minor division tournament. (see below) Children born between May 1st, 2001 and April 30th, 2002 can participate.
Major League - For ALL eleven & twelve year olds. Tryouts are held in late February or early March followed by a draft by the team managers in mid March for seven or eight Tier I teams (Major National League). Any child that signs up and does not tryout is automatically placed on a team in the tier 2 division (Major American League). Regular season standings are kept and playoffs are held at the conclusion of the regular season. Finalists play on championship Saturday in June. A twelve year old tournament team is selected from the players in Tier I which competes in the Williamsport Major division (U12) tournament. (see below) An eleven year old tournament team is selected from the players in Tier I which competes in the Williamsport U11division tournament. (see below) Children born between May 1st, 1999 and April 30th, 2001 can participate.
Junior League - For all thirteen and fourteen year olds. Children born between May 1st, 1997 and April 30th, 1999 can participate.
Senior League - For all fifteen through seventeen year olds. Children born between May 1st, 1994 and April 30th, 1997 can participate.
TOURNAMENT TEAMS - In early June ,Tournament teams are selected for 10 year old (Central), 11 year old (Major National) and 12 year old (Major National). The top players are invited to a tryout by their respective managers. If a child tries out and makes the team they should expect to play baseball for the month of July. Please do not plan vacations during this time as any child selected is expected to make the full commitment to the team. No exceptions are allowed. Tournament practices and games will run from mid June until mid July at the minimum. If teams win the districts (GCAA teams have done so from 2002-2010) then games could continue until early August. If teams win at the state and regional level, play could continue past that.
