Dear 3rd Grade Boys and Parents
Thank you for your interest in GCAA travel basketball. On Tuesday Sept 29th a try out was held and ratings were done by 3 Island
Garden youth AAU coaches. These evaluators were independent and have no children in GC schools. The average ratings of the 3 evaluators were calculated and teams were formed based upon those ratings. The first portion of the try out included drills/skills while the second portion included scrimmages.
Try outs are not an exact science but the utilization of 3 independent evaluators certainly helped in our efforts to make the try out fair and transparent. Within GCAA travel basketball, there is a new try out every year and there is always movement from one team to another, subject to a player's performance at a try out.
Please note it is required for all players making a team at this grade level to register for intramurals by October 7th if a player has not done so already. GCAA has a great intramural program
