Jammerz, sometimes called the ERASER, because she often ERASES our pitchers mistakes. Which is what an eraser does, erase mistakes. She scoops and blocks pitches in the dirt and loves to throw out runners trying to steal or pick them off when they stray too far from the base. Our pitchers just don't worry when a runner is on base because they know Jammerz is zeroing in on them. Her leadership qualities and knowledge of the game gives her freedom to make her own calls. Pitchers are very comfortable when Jammerz is behind the plate. They know they have a quality catcher to pitch to.

    Curly Q looking for a 2nd position
Curly normally is our starting 3rd baseman but she is teaming up with Jammerz to learn how to be a catcher. She is strong and quick and has plenty of energy. Her strong arm and good hands at 3rd gives her a good start. With Jammerz to use as a role model she is developing fast. Combine a good teacher with natural ability and Curly will soon have a new position to add to her resume.

This section is to track the number of players the snipers erase from the bases after getting on. This is pick-offs and caught stealing events.

    Good Footwork for Pick-Offs

There are many different styles of footwork you can use while picking off a girl. The most important thing to remember is the quicker you get your feet into correct position the quicker you can release the ball.

    THREE TYPES OF FOOTWORK:

First is the shuffle. When you are in your squat position the first move you want to make is with your back foot. Just to be clear, if you are right handed your back foot is your right leg and so on with left handers. You want to take your back foot and step FORWARD while pointing your toes to the desired base. This will help you open up your hips. Next, take your other foot and bring it around. You will want your hips and shoulders in line with the desired base. Also, make sure your knees are bent and you are in a good athletic stance. Never stand straight up and then throw because this takes to much time.

Second is pivoting. This time you will want to pivot or spin on your back foot. Keep in mind to stay low in your stance. Once you have turned on your back foot bring you other leg around. Make sure your hips and shoulders are lined up with the base you are throwing to.

Third is throwing from your knees. I recommend this style only to girls who have strong mature arms. When you are in your squat position you will want to take you back leg and slightly open it up and make sure your momentum is moving forward. It is very important that your momentum is going forward since you are relying only on your upper body for strength. Also, like I said before hips and shoulders need to be in line with the base.

Have fun with your footwork and try new things!!
