GREEN MACHINE BRINGS HOME THE GOLD!!!
Results from the Owensboro Tournament.
Sat June 2
Game 1 - Despite leading 2-0 into the sixth
inning the Hurricanes lose to the Owensboro
Oilers 3-2.
Game 2 - With just 20 minutes rest between
games the Hurricanes come back and defeat
the Indianapolis Rebelz 13-4.
Game 3 - Later in the evening in a vital
game the Hurricanes hand the Evansville
Riverman a 7-1 loss. This win earns the
Canes a top seed for Sunday.
Sunday June 3.
Game 1 - In a rematch with the Indianapolis
Rebelz the Hurricanes come out on top 8-0.
Game 2 - The Championship Game. Hurricanes vs
Owensboro Oilers. This was a must win game for
the Canes. They did not want make the 2 hour
plus drive back home as runner-ups again. The
Hurricanes took an early 2-0 lead in the top of
the second but the Oilers counter with 2 in the
bottom of the the second. Top of the 3rd the
Canes score 2 more and lead 4-2. Top of the 5th
Canes score another and lead 5-2. In the bottom
of the 6th the Oilers score another and have
have the bases loaded with 2 outs. But the Canes
get out of the inning and take a 5-3 lead into
the 7th. Maybe it was the agony of being to the
big game before and falling short that haunted
them, the Hurricanes made sure they took care of
business in this one. In the top of the 7th the
Canes bust loose for an additional 5 runs and
take a commanding 10-3 lead. Good thing, the
Oilers are able to come back with 2 in the bottom
of the 7th but can't overcome the 7 run deficit.

Less than 24 hours later...................
A battered and weary Hurricanes faced the Lyndon
Cobra's in Middletown Competitive League action.
With a minimal amount of pitching available for
the Canes, the Lyndon Cobra's took a 6-4 lead in the
top of the 6th.Then the Hurricanes hammered out
12 runs, yes 12 runs, in the bottom of the 6th to
win 16-6. GO BIG GREEN!

The Hurricanes resumed Middletown Competitive
League Play Wednesday May 30. After a tough
loss late Monday night the Hurricanes wasted
no time in jumping all over the Louisville
Wildcards. The Canes blasted 5 runs in the
first and another 3 in the 3rd inning. Final
score Hurricanes 8 Wildcards 1. This was a big
win. The Wildcards were 5-2 in league play
heading into this game. They appeared to be
shell shocked and could never recover after the
1st inning. Way to go Hurricanes!!!
The Hurricanes record in the Middletown League
is now 5W-3L.
Overall record 18W-12L (see weekend results below)
Hurricanes make it to championship game
in Cincinnati but fall short of title. The Hurricanes
lost Monday in the championship game to a talented Cincinnati West Stars team. The final score was
West Stars 8 Hurricanes 4.

beat the Blue Devils 7-3. Overall record 15W-10L.

The Hurricanes tried to mount a comeback again in league play on Wednesday night. Down 6-2 the Hurricanes scored 3 in the top of the 6th inning to pull within 6-5, but a 3 run shot over the centerfield field fence capped off a 4 run bottom of the 6th for the Legends. Fighting to the bitter end the Hurricanes scored another in the top of the 7th but come up short. Legends 10 Hurricanes 6

Hurricane results from the “Easton Early Bird Classic” in Indianapolis. First the tournament format.
The tournament consisted of 8 teams divided into 2 pools of 4 teams each. All teams played 3 games on Saturday. The top 2 teams from each pool advanced to play on Sunday. The games on Sunday were seeded. The second place team in each pool played the first place team in the other pool in the opening round, with the two winners advancing to the championship game.

In a dramatic finish the Hurricanes (vistors in this game) entered the top of the 7th down two runs. When Yogi Berra said "it ain't over till its over" he was talking about games like this. With an onslaught of singles and doubles the Hurricanes score six times with two outs to take a 10-6 lead. The Hornets were able to add only one additional run in the bottom of the seventh.

Despite the score the Canes had a valiant effort. Several Hurricanes reached base but the key hits from the previous game avoided them this time. That's Baseball.
