2009 ICE BREAKER CUP TOURNAMENT RULES
1. CHA and OWHA rules shall apply, except as outlined below.
2. All teams must be dressed and ready to play 15 minutes before their scheduled game time. There will be a 3 minute warm-up prior to each game. All games begin immediately upon completion of the 3 minute warm up. The clock will not stop at the 12/15 - minute mark but will continue until the first stoppage of the game. Teams are required to provide their own dressing room locks and keys.
3. All players and team officials must sign and verify the game sheet prior to each game. To be eligible to participate in the tournament, the participant’s name must appear on the team roster form submitted with the entry form. Changes to the roster must be made in writing and will not be permitted after registration prior to the first game. Players on Ontario teams must be registered with the OWHA. The OWHA “Pickup Consent” forms will be honoured and must be included where necessary based on OWHA Rules.
4. All games (except Midget AA) will consist of three 12 minute stop time periods. Midget AA games will consist of three 15 minute stop time periods. Floods are at the discretion of the Convenor. No overtime in round robin play.
5. There will be a three-minute warm up prior to each game.
6. The home team must wear their light-coloured jerseys.
7. One 30-second time out is allowed per team in quarter-final, semi-final and final games only.
8. INTENT TO INJURE and FIGHTING penalties will result in the player being EXPELLED from the game and the remainder of the tournament.
9. Any game with a 5 goal differential will be running time at the start of the third period (or anytime thereafter). A return to stop time will result once a goal difference of 3 is reached.
10. Teams will be awarded 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss during round robin play.

Tiebreakers.
In case of two (2) teams tie in points after round robin games, tiebreakers will follow the numerical order until all ties are broken. If more than 2 teams are tied then 2 criteria will be omitted.
The following criteria will be used to break the tie:
- Number of wins.
- Record against other tied team.
- Goal ratio -The goal percentage of a team is determined by adding the goals for and against together (total goals) and then dividing goals for into total goals, with the team having the highest percentage winning the higher position Eg. Goals for / (goals for + goals against) or 10 goals for / (10 goals for + 4 goals against), 10/14 = .714 percentage
- Fewest goals allowed in round robin play.
- Most goals scored in round robin play
- Fewest penalty minutes in round robin play.
- First goals scored in round robin play.
- Most periods won in round robin play
- Flip of a coin.
11. Championship, Semi-Final and Quarter-Final games are played to a winner. In the event of a tie after regulation time, Teams will remove one player and play a 4-on-4 two-minute sudden victory period. This will continue until teams are 2-on-2 (2 skaters and a goalie). The 2-on-2 will continue until a winner is declared with no clock stoppage. Penalties during two-minute overtimes—The non-offending team will add one player for the advantage. The penalized player will serve her penalty and join the play on expiration. Teams will return to the assigned format at the next stoppage of play. NOTE: There will be no break between overtime periods. Teams must immediately line up at centre ice at the conclusion of each overtime period as directed by the official. Failure to do so will result in the non-offending team being awarded a penalty shot
12. The decisions of the Tournament Officials are final with no appeals!!
