Fast Pitch
Fast Pitch Levels of Competition
In the older age groups (10U and above), there will be three levels of competition offered:
C Level
Teams are composed of moderately skilled and beginning fast pitch players that have just started learning the fast pitch game. "C" is great to introduce the softball player to the fun and exciting pace of fast pitch games. For example, in the 10U age group, pitching is a player/coach combination and there are no walks. This allows for a fun competitive experience for all players and for those girls that are just learning to pitch.
C level teams participate in a league, similar to your experience in slow pitch leagues. The league will consist of surrounding parks that have C level teams. Typically players on C level teams are selected from some form of an equalization draft.
C level is a good opportunity for girls new to fast pitch or moderately skilled to enhance the knowledge of fast pitch play in a league setting but without an added expense.
B Level (Select)
Teams are composed of very skilled, moderately skilled, and highly skilled slow pitch players transitioning to fast pitch. These teams will participate in a "B" level league and may also choose to play in "B" level tournaments. "B" level ball is competitive but still allows those that are new to the game of fast pitch or improving their skills the environment to grow and improve in less intense surrounding.
Try-outs are conducted and the selection of players is based on the player's ability and a team's needs.
The cost to play B level fast pitch at KGSA will vary depending on which playing route the team takes. If the team decides to play strictly league ball then the cost to play would be similar to the C level teams. However, if the team chooses to also play tournaments in addition to league play, the cost will be substantially higher than playing C level fast pitch. The cost to play B level tournament ball will include registration fees plus the additional expense of tournament entry fees, uniforms and additional training.
B level teams are usually selected in the Fall towards the end of recreational play to allow these teams to practice during the winter break in preparation for the Spring season.
A Level
This level is reserved for teams that are composed of highly skilled players that will participate in "A" level tournaments. "A" level play is a very competitive environment that requires both a time and a financial commitment.
