Uniforms:
Jerseys can either be purchased or borrowed; either way requires a check to be completed to LUYAA LAX prior to receiving the jersey. If the cost of a uniform is too much of a financial burden, please contact Jaine Ackley for more options.
- Jersey Purchase option:
If you decide to buy the jersey the cost will also include a screen printed name on the back of the jersey. This jersey should be good for a number of subsequent seasons/years.
- Jersey Borrow option:
If you decide to borrow then a deposit check made out to LUYAA will be required before obtaining the jersey. Players cannot add a name to the jersey or damage the jersey in anyway as this will be lent to families in subsequent seasons. After the tournament(s)/end of season for the player, the jersey must be returned to LUYAA LAX for the deposit check to be returned to the family (therefore no costs to the family).
If this jersey is not returned within one month of the last game, the check will be deposited and the jersey may be kept by the family/player.
If during the season the player changes their mind and wants to keep the jersey, the family needs to contact their LAX Coordinator for formal notification and deposit of check.
- Shorts
Shorts will be made available for purchase only. Sorry, no borrowing. U13/Midget and U15/Junior ‘A’ team players are required to have these shorts for a full uniform; all other players (Bantams, PeeWees, Midgets B and Junior B) have the option to purchase shorts. There will be a very limited availability and sizes. This will be available first come first serve only, as we cannot hold an extra inventory of shorts. Price to be provided shortly.
- Availability:
It is anticipated that these jerseys and shorts will be available by the end of February. More information to come.

This is fun, low stress and educationally focused season. There is no body checking. The games are played on modified fields, typically smaller; depending on the needs/preferences of the two teams playing. Coaches are out on the field coaching during the games. It is a great way to get into the sport and learn a great deal while having a lot of fun!
League
LUYAA boys play in the Southern Maryland Youth Lacrosse Association (SMYLA) league. SMYLA provides us with a quality level of lacrosse and fun competition/competitors. Each Team participates in an End of Season SMYLA Tournament.
SMYLA has two Conferences.
NORTH CONFERENCE: 2 Divisions
- WHITE: Damascus, Linganore, Olney, and Urbana
- RED: Bowie, Burtonsville, MVSA, and Rockville
SOUTH CONFERENCE: 2 Divisions
- BLACK: Calvert, Dunkirk, Prince Frederick, and Prince Georges
- GOLD: Mechanicsville, South Calvert, St. Mary's 1, and St. Mary 2
We play every team in the RED Division once, and we play every team in the WHITE Division twice.
League Rules
For the 2009 Spring Season SMYLA will play by the Mens Federation Rules with the following exceptions/clarifications. Link to 2009 Rules.
- BANTAMS (U9): born in 2000 or later
While not an officially sanctioned age group within SMYLA, each organization participates at this age group. Games are officiated by on-field coaches and are designed as a instructional league to introduce 7 and 8 year olds to the game. No body checking is allowed. Use of goalies, rejecters, field size and number of players is determined prior to the game between the two head coaches.
- PEEWEE (U11): born in 1998 or 1999
The U11 age group play mostly by the Mens Federation Rules. The only exceptions are; NO long poles at this age group, the 10 second portion of the 20/10 clearing rule is not in effect, and NO one-handed stick checks.
- MIDGETS (U13): born in 1996 or 1997
The U13 age group play by the Mens Federation Rules with NO one-handed stick checks.
- JUNIORS (U15): born in 1994 or 1995
The U15 age group play by the Mens Federation Rules with NO one-handed stick checks.
*As stated above, enrollment permitting, we will try to field an "A" and "B" Team for each Age Group. "A"-Team players will typically be experienced players that will play highly competitive games, while "B"-Team players will have a more educational and modestly competitive season. SMYLA is devoted to developing TRUE "B"-Teams and would prefer to have all "B"-Teams play on the same day/location as the "A"-Teams.
