VIRGINIA BEACH  2009 COLUMBUS DAY TOURNAMENT FINALISTS

 

 

We had a great Fall season.  We worked hard, played hard and meet with success. 

We came in second place in our division, behind the first place team by only one point.  We were promoted to Division 4 and are energized and committed as ever, we plan to hard in our new division this Spring!

 

After four games to get to the Final Game, we came ready to play.  Our opponents did too. 

 

We fought hard and were a goal ahead until about two minutes before the end of the game when they scored and tied the game.  With very little time to develop a counter attack, we headed to double overtime.

 

In the first half of overtime, from the mid field came a shot that soared over the heads of the players and goalie and curved in a perfect arc into the goal!  We were up by a goal! 

 

We continued to work and scored a second goal securing our win and realizing one of our "goals" for the season - to win a tournament!

 

The Patriots received the presitgous WAGS Sportsmanship Award for the 2008 Spring Season.  This was the second time the Patriots have been recoginized for their good sportsmanship! 

 

In the Fall 2004 the girls received the Randy Rawls Sportsmanship  Award while playing in Old Dominion Soccer League.
