Game#2 vs Barrie Sharks - Wildcats (0) Barrie (2)
The Wildcats had their second match of the day and were sluggish to begin this game and would give up 2 first period goals and were not able to find the twine in the second and third periods and would drop their first contest of the year to a persisitent Barrie team.
Game #3 vs Ontario Hockey Academy(OHA) Canadian Geo and Solar Midget "AA" Wildcats (2) - OHA (0) Goal Scorers for the Sault- Goal #1 - Jamie Orlando from Olivia Pavoni and Jayce Chiblow Goal #2 - Mikayla Ferlaino from Mackenzie Gibson and Maraih-Leigh Fell
The Wildcats would score their first goal at the 4:31 mark and the second would come at the 11:42 mark. With a little more than 3 minutes the OHA was granted a penalty shot but Rookie netminder Aleisha Labbe would shut the door and would stop all shots after that to earn her first shutout as a Midget "AA" goalie.
The 2 wins and one loss would seed the Wildcats 2nd overall in their pool of ten teams and advance them to the A Championship round of the top 16 teams out of 40 teams entered.
Game #4 vs Mississauga Chiefs

Goal Scorers for the Sault- Goal #1 - Renae VanBuskirk from Jamie Orlando and Jayce Chiblow Goal #2 - Maraih-Leigh Fell (Shootout goal) Mississauga goal scorer - Nicole Atkinson
The Chiefs were no strangers to the Wildcats from earlier contests and the players knew that they would have to bring their best game to the ice. The Wildcats would open the scoring at the 2:27 mark of the 2nd period. Wildcats would find more trouble towards the end of the 3rd period and get called for a penalty at the 1:16 mark. The penalty was killed to the end but would have to start the period shorthanded as a 4 on 3 and with a great PK effort the Chiefs would be denied and now go into a shootout as there would be no scoring in the sudden death 5 minute overtime. Mississauga would send the first shooter and Goalie Aleisha Labbe would shut the door once again. Wildcats sent shooter Mariah-Leigh Fell in and she pulled an unstoppable move on the Chiefs goalie and the Wildcats would be advancing to the 5th game in this "A" Championship quest.
Game#5 vs Ottawa Senators Wildcats(0) - Ottawa (4)
The Wildcats were ready to take on a strong Ottawa team but would find out that outplaying an opponent will not always give you a victory. The Ottawa team would plant 2 goals in the first period but the Wildcats would not quit. The second period would be a solid performance by every player in the lineup but out shooting the Ottawa team 8 -2 the players could not get a break as the Ottawa netminder turned every shot and rebound away. The determined Sault squad gave up a pair of third period goals to fall to the Whitby Wolves 2-0.
The Wildcats became the first ever Sault Female Hockey Association team to advance to the finals of the Silver Stick Tournament by defeating St Clair Shores of Michigan by a 3-1 margin in the semi-finals. Meghan Boissoneau, Lydia Murray, and Karissa Zack each fired second period goals to erase an early one-goal deficit.

On behalf of the staff, players and parents, the Peewee Wildcats would like to thank the Atom Wildcat coaching staff, players and all the parents for coming into Sarnia and supporting our team on Sunday. Our girls were thrilled to see the Atom girls there to cheer them on. I'm sure they helped us keep Whitby off the scoresheet for the first two periods.
We appreciate that after a long weekend and heartbreaking tournament yourselves, everyone was willing to delay getting home in order to show how supportive the Wildcat teams are for each other. This certainly indicates what a great group of parents you have on your team!
Thanks,
Marty Rimmer for the Peewee Wildcats.
Midget AA Wildcats Competing In London
The Sault Ste. Marie Midget “AA” Wildcats, sponsored by Service Rentals and Sales, made their way to London over the weekend to compete in the 19th Annual Devilettes Tournament.
In game one on Friday morning against the home team, London Devillette’s the Wildcats lost 2-1 in a nail biter allowing a Power Play goal own 5 on 3 and giving up a late goal with 42 seconds remaining in the game.
The Service Rentals Wildcats second game of the day against the Hamilton Hawks was every bit as exciting as the earlier game that same day with the Wildcats earning a 3-3 tie .
Game 3 on Saturday would be a must win situation for the Midget squad and they did not disappoint finding the back of the twine 3 times to earn a 3-1 win over the Stratford Aces. This would put the Service Rentals “AA” Midgets in the Semi Finals to play off against the Waterloo Ravens Sunday morning.
The Sunday game vs the Waterloo team was the toughest game of the tournament and after 2 periods of play the score remained 0-0 with both teams providing superior play back and forth. The goose egg would be broken just shy of the 5 minute mark remaining in the game as Waterloo got a break at the net with a redirected pass that just made the far corner of the net. The Midget girls would attempt to tie the game with the goalie pulled but were unable to get one past the Waterloo netminder and eventually giving up to a 2-0 loss. This was a great accomplishment for the Midget squad scoring 7 goals and only allowing 6 goals against in round robin play. Waterloo went on to win the tournament.
Next action for the Service Rentals and Sales Midget "AA" Wildcats is February 20 as they travel to Sudbury for Northern Ontario Challenge Cup.
Sudbury Northern Ontario Challenge Summary
Bantam Wildcats Win Gold In Sudbury
The Tulloch Engineering Bantam Wildcats struck gold this past weekend in Sudbury as they captured the Bantam Rep Division of the Northern Ontario Challenge. They started off very fast in their first game as they defeated the Thunder Bay Queens by a score of 5-1. They then followed that up with 4-1 victory over the Leaside Wildcats, jumping out to an early 4-0 lead and never looking back. On Saturday morning they faced North Bay and a Wildcat victory would assure them a spot in the finals, but the Ice Boltz from North Bay were very determined to not let that happen. The Wildcats came out very flat and dug themselves an early 6-1 hole before the game was 18 minutes old. They never quit and battled back to make the final score 6-4 in favour of North Bay and set the stage for the evening game against the undefeated Sudbury Lady Wolves. A Wildcat win and they were in the finals. Both teams came out strong and battled very hard, creating chances at both ends but it was the Wildcats who drew first blood and later added an empty net goal to win the game and set up a rematch with Sudbury on Sunday. The final game was no different as the Wildcats battled hard in both ends of the rink and jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, only to see Sudbury tie the game shortly after. The teams would go back and forth before the Wildcats scored the eventual winner on a beautiful play with about 6 minutes remaining in the game. Each and every player played exceptionally hard and should be commended for their effort. This adds a gold medal to the two silver medals they have already won at earlier tournaments. Next action for the Wildcats is March 8th in Thessalon when they host the same Lady Wolves in an exhibition encounter.

The Sault rounded out the round-robin portion of the tournament with a 7-0 victory over the Clearview Ice Cats. Taylor Hayes, Smith and Murray each supplied a pair of goals with Chelsea Gaudette adding a single marker. Rimmer chipped in with three assists while Murray also added two helpers. Tulloch Engineering Bantam A Wildcats Win Gold In Hamilton
Over the past weekend the Tulloch Engineering Bantam “A” Wildcats traveled to Hamilton for the 16th Annual Hawkey Tournament.
The Wildcats started their tournament off Friday afternoon with a 2-0 win over Barrie. Saturday morning the girls were in tough as they battled the host Hamilton Hawks, leading the game late in the 3rd the wildcats surrendered a goal and had to settle for a hard fought 1-1 tie. With their backs against the wall and needing a win, the cats headed to the rink for their Saturday afternoon game with a previously unbeaten Chatham team. The girls new what they had to do and got the job done in style, earning their second shut-out of the tournament as they skated to a 2-0 victory and a birth in Sundays Semi-finals.
Sunday morning’s semi-finals brought a familiar foe for the Wildcats as they would do battle with the Etobicoke Dolphins. The game was filled with fast end to end play and exciting battles but in the end the Sault would not be denied as they earned a birth in the finals with a 3-1 win.
In the finals the girls would face a strong North Halton club who had an undefeated record throughout the tournament. A slow start cost the wildcats as they were down 2-0 late in the 2nd period, but the cats roared back to take the lead 3-2 in the late stages of the game, but with less then a minute remaining the girls recorded a penalty. North Halton pulled their goalie to give them a 6-4 advantage and with only 1 second left they jammed home a rebound to tie the game. After 5 minutes of exciting 4 on 4 overtime nothing was settled so they headed to the dreaded shoot-out. With 3 shooters aside the girls were ready for the most exciting event of the season, the Wildcats first shooter made no mistake as she put the girls ahead with a beautiful goal, and that’s all their goalie needed as she made 3 straight saves to capture the Tournament Title 2-1. Good Job Girls…….

Sports Gold/Tenaris/Sling Choker(Sault) Midget AA Wildcats Competing In First Annual Minnesota Crunch Showcase Tournament
The Sports Gold/Tenaris/Sling Choker Wildcats needed a good first game to beat the Green Bay Bobcats 2-1.. The first goal came at the 4:05 mark of the first period by Mariah Krancevich with assists going to Jaime Orlando and Haley MacLeod. The Bobocats tied it up at the 10:50 mark of the second period. Both teams would go to the rooms for a break while the ice was resurfaced and the game would stay tie until the 16:33 mark and Haley MacLeod would get the go ahead goal with helpers going to Krancecich and Orlando once again. Amanda Alexander was in net for the win. All 17 players contributed playing 3 - 18 minute stop time periods in the first of 4 games in this 1st annual Minnesota Crunch Showcase Tournament. Great work "Cats".
Sports Gold/Tenaris/Sling Choker(Sault) Midget Wildcats in game two vs the Western predators would be a come back victory with the Sault squad down 2-1 after the 1st period, but the wildcats would not give up over the next two periods coming back and winning 6-3. Goals came from Britany Syms with Kelsey Burton and Olivia Pavoni getting the assists. Second period goals came from Jaime Sacco with helpers from Karly Meincke and. Mackenzie Gibson. Michelle Fabbro assisted by Jaime Orlando and Haley MacLeod. Olivia Pavoni would finish off the scoring for the second period with Jessica Grisdale providing the helper. Third period scoring would come from Jasmine Roy with Mackenzie Gibson assisting. With the cats leading 5-2 Mackenzie Gibson would find the twine with assists going to Jasmine Roy and Kelsey Burton. Emma Running was in net for the win.
Sports Gold/Tenaris/Sling Choker(mfg) Sault Midget Wildcats won Game 3 vs Winnipeg Polar Ice in a tight scoring 4-3 game. First period scoring opened up with the Sault getting a goal from Jaime Orlando with assists going to Jayce Chiblow and Michelle Fabbro. Polar Ice would match that to end the 1st period. Second period action would be a goal filled period. Jasmine Roy would start with a goal on a nice feed from Mackenzie Gibson. Mariah Krancevich would tally the 3rd goal with Jaime Orlando getting the assist. Polar Ice would reply with 2 more to tie the Wildcats. At the 6:09 mark of the 2nd Kelsey Burton would find the net with assists going to Brittany Syms and Olivia Pavoni. This would stand as there was a scoreless 3rd period with Amanda Alexander shutting the door giving the Sports Gold/Tenaris/Sling Choker(mfg) Sault Midget Wildcats first place in their pool. Strong contributions in the first 3 games came from Renae VanBuskirk, Melody Paradis, Jessica Grisdale, Karly Meincke and Jaime Sacco and Haley MacLeod.
In the final vs Thunder Bay Queens the Sports Gold/Tenaris/ Sports Gold/Sling Choker mfg (Sault)Midget "AA" Wildcats. would find themselves behind 3-0 by the end of the first period. After a talk with the coaches between periods the Wildcats would strike twice, caused by a strong fore check causing Thunder Bay to give up the puck. Melody Paradis would find the back of the cage to make it 3-1. Shortly after on another strong fore check Mariah Krancevich would net the Cats second goal of the game. The Wildcats would get a chance to tie the game with a penalty shot being awarded to them, but the T-Bay netminder would shut the door. In the 3rd period they would get an insurance marker to make it 4-2. This was a great weekend for the Wildcats as they went 3-0 and competed against U-19 teams in the round robin and all periods were 18 minute stop time. Next action for the team will be the local Ice Breaker Cup Tournament. Members of the Wildcats include Amanda Alexander, Emma Running, Jamie Orlando, Michelle Fabbro, Renae VanBuskirk, Kelsey Burton, Melody Paradis, MackenzieGibson, Jessica Grisdale, Mariah Krancevich, Brittany Syms, Karly Meincke, Jayce Chiblow, Jasmine Roy, Jaime Sacco, Haley MacLeod, Olivia Pavoni.
The SportsGold/tenaris/Sling Choker MFG. Sault Midget "AA" Wildcats competed in Traverse City over the weekend and came home with 2 wins and 1 loss.
Game one saw the Wildcats lose 1-0 to the Traverse City North satrs "AAA" U-19 female travelling team in game one. It was an exciting game right until the final buzzer as the Wildcats had their goalie pulled with an extra attacker for the last minute of play in the Traverse City end having several great opportunities to bury the puck but the Northstar goalie would not allow the Sault squad to find the twine.
Game 2 the Wildcats would regroup and take the second game of the series 3-1. Jasmine Roy would lead the way jumping on a big rebound and getting an early goal just 3 minutes into the game. Four minutes later Mackenzie Gibson had a nice tip in goal and that would give the Cats a two goal lead with helpers going to Kelsey Burton and Jasmine Roy. The Northstars would cut the lead in half with less than 2 minutes left in the second period but 46 seconds later Karly Meincke would find the back of the cage to put the Wildcats up 3-1 with assists going to Michelle Fabbro and Jasmine Roy with her third point of the game.
Game 3 would turn out to be the rubber game to see who would win the 3 game series in the Northstars home ice. The Wildcats showed up at the rink Sunday morning focussed and ready to play. The referee's would let these 2 teams bump and grind in all zones of the rink. Although their opponent was known for their aggressive style, the Wildcats would not take this game lightly with play going both ways and shots being pretty even at both ends of the rink. With the face off in the Wildcat zone, Jasmine Roy would push the puck through the legs of her opponent on the face off dot and power her way up the left side and drive around the Northstar defenceman on her off wing and snipe a nice shot past the Traverse City Netminder in the last minute of play in the second period. The 3rd period would be intense as the Wildcat players would be on their feet on the bench to start the period banging their sticks with encouragement. The Northstars would find themselves in the same position as the Wildcats in game one having to pull their goalie and trying to press for a goal to tie the game with the extra attacker but they would be denied the equalizer. Amanda Alexander was in net for all 3 games and she would earn her second win and a shutout and the Wildcats would win the first series against the Northstars 2 games to one.
The team had a solid weekend and competed very well. The Wildcats now have record of 11 wins/ 5 losses and one O/T-shootout loss earning them one Gold/ one Silver and winning the first part of a home at home series vs the TC Northstars
Next action for the SportsGold/tenaris/Sling Choker MFG. Sault Midget "AA" Wildcats will be December 10th - 13th in the Thunder Bay Showcase Tournament and the second series between the Wildcats and the Traverse City Northstars January 2nd and 3rd here in the Sault.

MAITLAND FORD PEEWEE WILDCATS WIN TO CONTINUE THEIR GOAL
Game 3 - The Maitland Ford Peewee Wildcats won a close contest with the Cornwall Typhones to continue their advancement in the Ontario Provincial Championships, but had to score in overtime to win. With less the two minutes left in the first overtime, Jana Longo fed a pass through the neutral zone to Taylor Cleminson who would fire a shot as she crossed the oppositions blue line that would hand cuff Cornwall’s goalie. It would be the only goal in the game that saw both teams with numerous chances through out the four periods. Alesha Labbe would record the shut out. The Wildcats next game is at 12:30 against Woodstock
Game 4 - MAITLAND FORD PEEWEE WILDCATS ADVANCE TO QUARTERS.

But Woodstock would come back 2 minutes later with on of their own to tie it. Then at the drop of the puck at centre ice in the third, Maitland Ford would create a strong rush into Woodstock’s end and Taylor Cleminson would score the game winner with the assist going to Orazetti. Good luck next season.
National Supply/Main Street Pharmacy Bring Home The Silver
Game #1 – Sault vs Barrie (Sault wins 2-0)
This was an exciting game for fans as the National Supply/Main Street Pharmacy Wildcats were pumped up for the 1st game of the 2008 Provincial Championships. The first goal of the tournament would be scored by Mariah Krancevich out muscling the Barrie defender in front of the net afterMackenzie Gibson tipped a hard low shot from Arla Biron. The Sault squad was not finished yet when Brittany Syms would find Olivia Pavoni behind the net and Pavoniwould feeda pass to Jamie Orlando in the slot with Orlando finding the back of the cage. The entire team put forth a solid effort not allowing Barrie a chance to get into this game in any of the 3 zones. Amanda Alexander would get her first shutout of the tournament.
Game #2 – Sault vs Brampton (Sault wins 4-1)
Brampton would draw first blood with less than a minute remaining in the first period as they would pressure the Sault team for the betterpart of this period. After a good talk with coaches between periods the Sault team would come out hard and within the first minute of the second period Renae VanBuskirk would receive a nice up ice feed from Mariah Krancevich and drive to the net shooting a hard low shot on the short side beating the Brampton netminder. With the game tied at 1-1 the Wildcats would get a solid effort from Haley MacLeod as she would steal a puck on the boards at the halfwall and shoot a hard shot at the Brampton net and beat the goalie through the 5 hole. The Sault team could taste victory while working their way into the opposing end Haley MacLeod would cycle the puck behind the net when Cierra Luxtonwould make a beautiful pass to Jessica Grisdale and she would direct the puck past the Brampton netminder to put the Sault up 3-1. This was a heated affair especially when Brampton was trying to drive the net and take Emma Running off her game but the Sault skaters would not allow themselves to be pushed around as it would show on the game sheet with the Wildcats taking 6 penalties to Bramptons 9 in the 3rd period alone. With the net empty and the Wildcats with a player in the penalty box Jamie Orlando would get a loose puck over the red line and make a nice lead pass to Brittany Syms to take the puck in for break away on an empty net to seal the deal 4-1. EmmaRunning would get the win in net.
Game #3 – Sault vs Peterborough ( Tie 2-2)
Peterborough would open up the scoring at the 5:33 mark of the 1st period when a loose puck would be jammed in past the Sault netminder. Peterborough ranked as one of the best teams in this championship would find the twine one more time in the 2nd period and go up by a score of 2 – 0. With solid netminding by Emma Running the Sault remained only down by 2 goals but with a player in the penaltybox it seemed that they were in trouble but at the 1:32 mark of the 2nd period Brittany Syms would spring loose from the Sault blueline and feed a pass to a hard breaking Olivia Pavoni up the middle and she would put one through the 5 hole of the Peterborough goal keeper to cut the lead in half. After another inspiring speech from the bench bosses between the 2nd and 3rd periodthe Sault squad would get the equalizer at the 3:45 mark of the 3rd period from Brittany Syms with a nice shot from the top of the circle. Peterborough needed the win to finish first place in the pool so they pulled the goalie with 1:25 remaining and with the Sault being short handed in the last minute, this would give them a 2 player advantage. Emma Running and the Wildcat defence would have nothing to do with this and they would shut down the Peterborough team and claim first place in the pool with a 2-1-0 record.
Quarter final – Sault vs Scarborough (1 – 0 Sault wins)
National Supply/Main Street Pharmacy Wildcats would have to be ready for this game as it was lose and go home or win and advance to the semi’s . These two teams were no strangers to each other as they have watched each other play in previous tournaments throughout the year. It was a tense game for the fans and playersbut at the 6:59 mark of the 3rd period the Wildcats would get on the board when Melody Paradis would snipe one over the glove of the Scarborough goalie with the assists going to Brittany Syms and Jayce Chiblow. The Wildcats would have to kill off 3 consecutivepenaltiesinthe 3rd period, 2 of which overlapped forthe last 40 seconds of the game. With the goalie out of the net in the Scarborough end they would press hard with a 6 on 3 player advantage but the 3 defenders in front of Amanda Alexander would be flawless and Alexander would earn her second shutout of the tournament.
Semi Final – Sault vs Mississauga(5-1 Sault wins)
National Supply/Main Street Pharmacy Wildcats had played this team in 2 previous tournaments. One was a 1-0 loss in London in double overtime in the Semi finals where the Sault had outplayed their opponents but succumbed to poor officiating, and in a tournament3 weeks prior they had lost 1-0 on a kicked in goal. This would set the stage for a Wildcat team that was hungry for a medal but they also had to prove to themselves that they could beat this team. The Sault would strike early on the first shift of the game as Jamie Orlando would get a nice pass up ice from Kelsey Burton and Orlando would drive around the Mississaugadefence and blister a shot past the low blocker side of the Chiefs goalie. The second goal would not come until the 1:54 mark when Jessica Grisdale found the back of the cage with the helpers going to Jaime Sacco and Brittany Syms. The Wildcats knew that this game was far from over and at the 2:48 mark of the 2nd period Brittany Syms would beat the Mississauga net minder with helpers going to Olivia Pavoniand Jamie Orlando. The Wildcats would respond 33 seconds later withJamie Orlando’s 2nd goal of the game and Syms and Pavoni getting in on the action again. The 3rd period was quiet until the 1:41 mark and Mackenzie Gibson would crush Mississauga Chiefs chance to advance to the semi’s with helpers going to Michelle Fabbro and Mariah Krancevich. It seemed that Amanda Alexander would get her 3rd shutout but while the Sault was finishing the period shorthanded again, a Chiefsforward would spoil that chance and get a power play goal to end the game. The Wildcats were off to the finals!!!
Finals – Sault vs Clarington (1-0 Clarington wins)
Once again the Wildcats would face an opponent that they had met twice previous to this tournament. The record vs Clarington was a 1-0 win and a 1-1 tie.The Sault team would have early chances including a shot off the inside goal post on the short side but luck was not on the Wildcats side and it would go off the post and through the crease behind the Flames goalie. The first period would end in a draw and both teams would receive encouragement from their coaches. The 2nd period would not be gracious to the Sault when 13 seconds into the period the referee would assess an interference penalty against the Sault. Only 14 seconds later the Sault would get another penalty and were now in a position in their own end to kill a 5 on 3 for nearly 1 minute and 45 seconds. The girls were doing a great job of penalty killing but with 9 seconds left in the 1st of the 2 penalties, Clarington would get one by Amanda Alexander after stopping everything they could get at the net. The Wildcats did not give up and half way through the 2nd period a hard shot from the top of the circle would ring off the crossbar and without lady luck to guide it in, the Sault would play the rest of the game with heart and soul. The Wildcats pulled the goalie with just over a minute remaining but the tenacious Wildcats could not seem to break the goose egg and would have to settle for 2nd best in Ontario at the Bantam “A” level.
This was a huge accomplishment for the National Supply/Main Street Pharmacy Bantam “A” Wildcats as they started the year as a Bantam”BB” team and were bumped up to the “A” level. The team accepted the challenge and they rose to the occasion.
Congratulations to the Silver Medal Champions!!!

Taylor Smith picked up her second victory of the tournament in goal for the Wildcats, as they earned a spot in the championship game.

The game got underway with Kincardine Cougars scoring first with 1:45 remaining in the first period and again at the 45 second mark of the second. The Wildcats would then spend most of the remainder of the game in the oppositions end of the ice with them finally getting a tally on a power play when Jessica Orazietti would fire a shot and Reanne Zack would put away the rebound with 6:33 remaining in the game. In the final 6 minutes the Wildcats would have numerousopportunities but would not be able to even the score to force the game into overtime. In the first game of the tournament, the Eazy Cab Atom Wildcats opened the scoring at 5:07 of the first period. Lauren Rimmer scored on a beautiful pass from Lydia Murray. Megan Turcotte scored for the Wildcats just over one minute later on another great feed from Lydia Murray to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead. The Wildcats increased their lead to 3-0 with 1:55 remaining in the second period on an unassisted goal by Mackenzie Nadeau. The Coyotes broke Jennifer King’s bid for a shutout with 6:14 remaining in the game, as the Wildcats skated to a 3-1 victory. The Coyotes had the game’s only penalty. Way to go girls! This is a great start to the tourney.
In game two of their Sudbury tournament, the Wildcats continued their strong play as Jamie-Lynn Anich opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at 7:22 of the first period. Lydia Murray then set up Lauren Rimmer to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead after the first period. Lydia Murray then scored putting the Wildcats up 3-0, with Danielle Watling earning an assist. The Eazy Cab Atom Wildcats returned home from the Silver Stick girls hockey tournament in Belleville with an undefeated record…and nothing to show for it.
In their first game, the Wildcats defeated the Waterloo Ravens by a score of 5-2 with five different players scoring. Lydia Murray, Caitlin Baker, Lauren Rimmer and Hali Studens led the way with a goal and an assist each, while Jamie-Lynn Anich completed the scoring. Allie Marshall and Megan Hayes each added an assist for the Wildcats, while Taylor Smith earned the victory in net.
In their second game, the Wildcats battled the Clarington Flames to a 4-4 tie in what was by far their toughest game of the tournament. Lydia Murray paced the Wildcats with a pair of goals, while Danielle Watling and Mackenzie Nadeau scored once each. Also finding the score sheet were Lauren Rimmer, Hali Studens, Caitlin Baker and Jana Headrick who each added one assist. Jennifer King held on for the tie in net for the Wildcats, who were out-shot in the game 21-16.
In their third and final game of the round-robin, the Wildcats showed their teeth as they dominated the Barrie Sharks in a 5-0 win. Lydia Murray once again led her team with two goals and an assist, with single goals going to Allie Marshall, Megan Turcotte and Hali Studens. Lauren Rimmer and Caitlin Baker each contributed 2 assists, while single assists were earned by Kaysie Bordin, Jana Headrick, Mackenzie Nadeau and Erin Gillespie. Taylor Smith stopped all 12 shots she faced in earning the shut-out.
Although the girls finished the round-robin portion of the tournament with an undefeated record in the six team event, they did not qualify for the semi-finals based on a poorly designed playoff system. The Wildcats were in a three team division where the other two teams finished with perfect 3-0-0 records, leaving the Wildcats in third place with a 2-0-1 record, thereby missing the playoffs. The other division meanwhile, saw the top two teams advance to semi-final action with records of 0-2-1 and 0-3-0 respectively. The girls were of course a little disappointed, but quickly decided to use their strong play as a motivator as they prepare for their next tournament in Sudbury on February 22nd.

Later in the 3rd period with Sault squad down 2 players the Sault would have their second goal of the game called back by the other London official. It seemed like just a matter of time as to when the Wildcats would score a goal that could not be questioned but nothing could be solved in regulation time. The 2 teams would square off 4 on 4 which would be the 1st of 2,three minute overtime periods. The play was going back and forth until the 2:26 mark of the second overtime while playing 3 on 3 when the London Official called a very questionable slashing penalty when such a high intensity back and forth game had been played to this point. With the Sault player due to be out of the box at the :26 second mark and the face off in the Sault territory, the Mississauga girls would get the puck hard to the net off the draw at the :41 second mark of the overtime ending the opportunity for the National Supply/Main Street Pharmacy Bantam Wildcats to win their 3rd consecutive London Devilettes Tournament.
Sault Ste. Marie can be proud of this team which represents Sault Female Hockey in the Bantam Rep division. All of the players on this team deserve recognition whether their name is on the score sheet or not. Thank you to all the girls for the hard work and dedication this past weekend.

The National Supply/MainStreet Pharmacy Wildcats earned themselves a spot in thesemi finals against the home town Markham-Stoufville team.
Semi Final
Sault National Supply/Main Street Pharmacy Wildcats – 1 Markham-Stoufville – 0
It seemed like not a player would be able to solve either goalie in this nail biter of a game which would play out to a 0-0 tie in regulation time. Markham had many scoring chances but with the absence of Jayce Chiblow the defensive core of Arla Biron, Kelsey Burton, Michelle Fabbro, Melody Paradis and Jaimie Sacco would not allow the Markham team to get second shots on goalie Emma Running earning her 1st shutout of the tournament. The forward line of Jessica Grisdale, Cierra Luxton and Haley MacLeodprovidedsolid back checkingagainst the strong Markham forwards. A five min 3 on 3 sudden death overtime would begin but it would end at the 3:51 mark after Renae VanBuskirk would find Mariah Krancevich and she would blow one past the Markham net minder and send the Sault team to the finals against the round robin rivals Belmont Blazers.
