W.A. Seniors Meet Chester in Final
Eighteen senior lettermen play their final high school football game against Chester, Friday night. Eleven of these eighteen seniors who will start are Jack Walker and Ed DeCarlo at ends, Jack Bigger and Don Davidson at tackles, Lamont Anderson and Frank Meacci, guards; Bob Susa, center. The backfield consists of: Joe Stein, quarterback; Richard Harvey, John Gamble and Dale Reddinger at halves; Frank Rupich at fullback. The team of '52 has had many standouts who have set a goal for coming West Allegheny football players to shoot at. Frank Rupich has been the top ground gainer by averaging 80 yards a game in games he has participated in. Dick Harvey also has been a top performer in all games on the defense and offense. His blocking has been a tremendous asset to the team. The passing of Joe Stein and the kicking of Dale Reddinger has been high in the standards of high school football. Stein has completed more than half of his passes and Reddinger has averaged close to forty yards a kick all season. Linebacker, Bob Susa and end, Jack Walker, have been standout tackles on the defense. They have made many timely tackles to prevent scores. The middle of the Indian line has been kept strong by the presence of Frank Meacci. Another defensive man who deserves much credit is little Olen Bittinger. His weight of 130 lbs. has not handicapped him in any way. Olen has made a named for himself in Class A football.
Coaches have been commenting on the hard charging of this fiery football player. Olen's name no doubt will go in for W.P.I.A.L. mention. The Indian football team from top to bottom and in every aspect of football has been a tremendous one. These 18 seniors of the West Allegheny football team have helped make the "52" football season a noted one and a successful one.
