2008 Special Olympics (August 16, 2008)

The Troop helped at the Special Olympics which was at the Orland Bowl on  Saturday, August 16.  We will be helped the participants with their bowling skills. We did not need  to be an expert bowler. We just made sure that they get the ball down the lane so that they can enjoy themselves.

This counted as a Troop Activity, or community service hours. The total man hours was recorded for the Good Turn For America Program.

For those new to the troop, we previously helped out with the Special Olympics Bocce Ball Tournament held at the Sportsplex and the scouts had a very rewarding experience. They learned about the diversity within our community, that the athletes are very much like the scouts in their desire to perform, and that helping others brings joy to the athletes as well as the scouts.

The following persons helped at the Special Olympics:

Scouts                            Siblings                  Friends           Adults
