Coach Charles Taylor - Athletics Director and Head Fooball Coach

 Coach Taylor enters his 19th year as a high school football coach in Texas and his 4th year with the Knights. Coach Taylor's resume includes Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach at Kealing Middle School in Austin; Assistant Head Football Coach and Offensive Coordinator at LBJ High School in Austin; and, Wide Receivers Coach and Assistant Track and Field Coach at Stony Point High School in Round Rock. Coach Taylor earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Education degree from Lamar University in Beaumont. While at the University of Texas, Coach Taylor was a member of the 1995-1996 Southwest Conference Champion Track and Field Team. He and his wife, Mary Beth, have been married 15 years and they have a son named Cole who is 8 years old.

Coach Tom Gammerdinger - Varsity Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator

 Coach Gammerdinger is the Defensive Coordinator for the McCallum Knights football program.  He graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in Kinesiology.  Coach Gammerdinger is in his 7th year of coaching and begins his 6th year at McCallum.  Coach Gammerdinger's coaching career started at Austin ISD's Pearce Middle School. He also serves as the Strength and Conditioning Coach at McCallum.  In the spring Coach Gammerdinger will lead the Knights JV girl’s soccer team.

 

Coach Kevin Schneider - Varsity Assistant Coach and Offensive Coordinator

 Coach Schneider begins his 12th season with the Knights, 8th season as the running backs coach and 3rd season as the Offensive Coordinator.  He also is the Head Boys' Track coach in the spring. Coach Schneider graduated from Southwest Texas State (not Texas State) and previously coached in the Rockdale and Pflugerville school districts before coming to McCallum. He and his wife of 19 years, Melissa, have two boys.

Coach Mike Ellis - Varsity Assistant and Offensive Line Coach

 Coach Ellis is beginning his 11th year at McCallum High School and his 37th year of coaching high school football in Texas. He coached 13 years at Anderson High School and 13 years at Manor High School before coming to McCallum. Coach Ellis works with the offensive line. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He has two sons, Scott and Nathan and is a proud grandparent. Scott and his wife Kari have three kids - Graci, Jaci and Kaci. Nathan and his wife Rose have two kids - Garrett and Maddy.

Coach Aaron Stancik - Varsity Assistant and Defensive Line Coach

 Coach Stancik enters his 11th year as a high school football coach in Texas and his 3rd year at McCallum. Prior to joining the Knights, he worked at St. Michael's Catholic Academy here in Austin. Coach Stancik spent 8 years at St. Michael's - four as a classroom teacher and coach and 4 years as an administrator. Coach Stancik helped St. Michael's win 6 consecutive district championships and compile a 33-1 district record during his time on staff. Coach Stancik played football at Texas A&M-Kingsville for two years before graduating from Texas State University with a degree in Geography. Coach Stancik earned a Master's degree in Sports Administration and Management from Texas A&M University over the summer. He and his wife, Abby, have been married 12 years and they have three children; Livvy, 8, Madden, 6 and new addition Shepperd 9 months.

Coach Russell Houston - Wide Receivers and Junior Varsity Head Coach

 Coach Houston is in his 18th year of coaching in Texas and his 13th year at McCallum. Coach Houston graduated from Tarleton State University with a degree in Exercise and Sports Studies. He works with the Wide Receivers and is Head Coach of the Junior Varsity football team.  Coach Houston is also the Varsity baseball coach at McCallum.  His baseball teams have won numerous district championships over the years and he has collected over 200 wins during his tenure at McCallum.  Coach Houston has been married to Shelli for 15 years and they have two children - Addison (10 years old) and Bradyn (3 years old).

Coach Ray Amaro - Freshman Assistant Coach and Director of Physical Education

 Coach Amaro is in his 16th year at McCallum. In addition to football, Coach Amaro is involved with the wrestling and baseball programs at McCallum and he is in charge of the Physical Education Department. He is a graduate of Texas Lutheran University and received his Master of Education degree from Prairie View A&M. He has accumulated 38 years of coaching experience at Robstown, La Joya, Johnston and McCallum High Schools, as well as 20 years in the Marine Corps Reserve. Coach Amaro and his wife Rose have six children: Christina, Raymond Jr., Carlos, Anna-Alicia, Amanda and Ramona.

Coach Jacob Alvarez - Quarterbacks and Freshman Offensive Coordinator

 Coach Alvarez Coach Alvarez is entering his 3rd year at McCallum High School. After two years of coaching the wide receivers, Coach Alvarez is making the switch to coach the Quarterbacks at McCallum. In the spring he assists with the baseball program where he is the head JV baseball coach. Coach Alvarez graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science.

Coach Carlin Shaw - Defensive Backs and Freshman Assistant Coach

 Coach Shaw is beginning his 3rd year at McCallum. He is a 2004 graduate of McCallum High School and attended Prairie View A&M University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education. Coach Shaw recently finished courses at Concordia University Irvine for his Masters of Arts in Coaching and Athletic Administration. He is also the Junior Varsity boy’s basketball coach at McCallum. Coach Shaw and his wife Brittney have been married for 1 year and they have a son named Karrington.

Coach Anthony Osorio - Linebackers, Junior Varsity Defensive Coordinator and Freshman Special Teams

 Coach Osorio is entering his 4th year of coaching at the high school level in Texas and his 1st year at McCallum. Coach Osorio coaches Linebackers for all teams, is Defensive Coordinator for the JV team and Special Teams Coach for the Freshmen.  He also teaches World History at McCallum. Coach Osorio graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in History and Secondary Education and also was a graduate of the TechTeach program. Coach Osorio comes to us from Lubbock ISD where he coached at Estacado High School for 3 seasons. In the Spring, he will serve as Assistant Coach for Boys Varsity Soccer.

Head Athletic Trainer Matt Johnson

 

 Matt Johnson begins his 4th year at McCallum serving as the Head Athletic Trainer.  Before coming to McCallum, Matt spent two years as the Athletic Trainer for the spirit teams at The University of Texas. Matt is a native of Iowa.  He completed an undergraduate degree in Athletic Training at Simpson College and moved to Austin in 2008 to work on a Master’s degree at The University of Texas.  Matt has a cat named Waffles and a dog named Zilker.
