Thanks to the sponsors of the 7th Annual Wing Bash!

Monaca Youth Baseball would like to thank the sponsors of the 7th annual St. Patty's Day Wing Bash which was held on March 13th. It was another record-breaker. Thanks to everyone who attended, sponsored and worked hard at making this event a huge success.

Adam Scassa wins the 2010 Michael Demarco scholastic award

The Michael Demarco scholastic award is presented each year to the 12 year-old player with the highest grade point average. The 2010 recipient was Adam Scassa, who has an average grade of 98% at St. John the Baptist school in Monaca. Great job Adam!!

John Wolfe presented the MYBLA Man of the Year award.

Monaca native and Dick's Sporting Goods Vice-President John Wolfe was presented the MYBLA Man of the Year award. John's generosity to the organization he once played for has been unmatched over the past six years. Each season John sees that we have thousands of dollars of equipment as prizes for the kids on opening day. Anytime we have needed anything equipment-wise for the organization, John is there right away with only one question..."What else can I do for you". It was a pleasure to have John at the opening day ceremonies and to throw out the first pitch of the season.
John Wolfe throws the ceremonial first pitch of the season.

Rain holds off enough for a great opening day.

While it rained right to to the start of the parade, it didn't dampen the enthusiasm for the 55th year of Little League baseball in Monaca. All of the t-ball games were full of excitement. The Farm and Minor league games featured some big hits and great pitching. The night concluded with Sportmans defeating Lions in a competitive, down-to-the-last-out nail-biter. A great start to the 2010 season.

Cain's walkoff Home Run wins the game for Sportsman

After loading the bases in the fourth inning with a 9-0 lead, Connor Cain took control of the game Friday vs. Beaver. He retired the next three batters, stranding all three runners on base to preserve the 9-0 shutout. Then with the mercy rule in sight, Cain decided to end the game by launching a lead-off, walk-off home run to left field for a 10-0 four inning victory. It was Connor's first career home run. Congratulations to Connor and the entire Sportsmans team for a game well-played.

Turners wins Minor League Championship!!!!!

Turners went up 7-1 on Beaver Falls SOI and hung on to win 8-5 to capture the Beaver County Youth Baseball Minor League Championship. It was the second championship for Coach Mike Samangy and several of his players and coaches as they won the Farm League championship in 2008. Congratulations to all of the Turners players, coaches and parents on a PERFECT 18-0 season.

2010 season comes to and end.

After hosting a 10U tournament and then a 12U tournament, the Monaca Youth Baseball League Association would like to thank everyone who worked so hard all season long to provide the children of our town an opportunity to play T-ball and baseball this season. Without the time and dedication put in by our members, all of which are volunteers, it would not be possible to have such a successful season. We had one Beaver County League Champion, Minor lg's Turners, and one runner-up, Farm lg's Tuma's Landscaping. We also hosted two tournaments which drew many compliments from the visiting teams and their fans. Please continue to support the Monaca Youth Baseball League Association and feel free to join and volunteer your time to provide a great opportunity to your children and the rest of the children in the Borough.
