2013 Rawlings Wood Bat Jamboree Runner-ups - May 2013

PA Diamond Nine - 10U

        Jaron Shimmel, son of Pa Diamond Nine Baseball Manager Marty Shimmel, accepted an exclusive invitation to play for the American International Sports Team (AIST) in the largest European Tournament.  Jaron will be travelling to the Czech Republic in June 2013 to play at Prague Baseball Week.  This tournament is ranked, by ESPN, #7 of the top 10 Ultimate Baseball Experiences.  AIST is the only team to win the 32 year old tournament 3 years in a row.

Shimmel, a 2009 graduate of Eastern High School, is currently a Senior at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU).  He is a member of the Division II baseball team.  He has been playing baseball since a young boy in t-ball.  Before transferring and playing at TAIMU, he played for Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas.  During the summer he has played for the Marion Bobcats in Kentucky, and the Greeley Grays in Colorado.  This past summer, Jaron played for the local men’s league.  As a member of the Hellam Men’s League Team, he was selected for the all-star team.

         In addition to playing baseball and earning his degree in Psychology, Jaron spends his free time working with some of the players of the Pa Diamond Nine Baseball Team.  He spent several days each week developing the players’ fielding and hitting.  Before he left to return to college, he gave each of the player’s a list of drills to work on while he was away.  Jaron has been a positive role model for the players and is a big asset in the development of the Pa Diamond Nine Baseball Team. The boys are looking forward to his return, so they can continue to develop their skills.
