Our Mission Statement

The Rochester Lady Lions is a not-for-profit travel fast pitch softball organization based in the Rochester, New York area. The organization is comprised of teams at the 10u, 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U, and 23U levels. 

Our mission is not only to provide our players with year round opportunities to enhance their softball skills but also to provide an opportunity for them to become well rounded individuals through teamwork and sportsmanship. Our coaches strive to provide the proper softball fundamentals needed to elevate their player’s skill levels as we break the game down into its smallest pieces. 

The Lady Lions organization has a long standing tradition of placing their players in collegiate programs and we constantly impress upon our players the importance of academics in life and in the recruiting process. 

* We will strive to maximize our player’s exposure through networking with college coaches and attending competitive showcases, individual recruiting events, and college softball camps. 

* We understand how economically challenging playing a year round travel sport can be for a family and are always attempting to provide value, while steering teams toward the proper level of challenge.
 
* We fully believe that our program allows girls with a passion for the game to reach their true potential while creating memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Even though Gino is now Head Coach of the Alfred University Softball program, he is not far from our hearts and minds.

Gino Olivieri was appointed softball coach at Alfred University prior to the 2005-06 academic year.

In his firsat season at AU, Olivieri led the Lady Saxons to a fourth-place finish in the Empire 8 Conference standings and the team's first-ever berth in the conference championship tournament. In 2007, he guided AU to a school single-season record 23 victories.

Olivieri is well known in softball circles around Western New York, having served the last 11 years as head coach of the Rochester Lady Lions, an elite 18-and-under travel team that competes in American Softball Association, National Softball Association and PONY tournaments throughout the country.

His teams placed 20th and fifth, respectively, among more than 125 teams competing at PONY national championship tournaments in 2005 and 2004.

Olivieri comes to AU from SUNY Brockport, where he served as assistant softball coach during the 2004-05 season. He also served as an assistant high school softball coach at the Aquinas Institute near Rochester from 1999-2002.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in political science in 1981 from the University of Delaware, where he was a three-year starting tailback for the football team, helping the Blue Hens to an NCAA Division I-AA national championship in 1979. He was a member of the Detroit Lions for two seasons (1981 and 1982) before retiring in 1982 due to a shoulder injury.

Olivieri served 20 years in the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department as a canine handler, retiring in 2002. He and his wife, Janet, live in Conesus, NY, and have three children: Frank, Gina, and Michelle. His daughters both play Division I collegiate softball — Gina at Maryland-Baltimore County and Michelle at Binghamton.
